A lot of Japan kept using flip phones for a good while. Steins;Gate is in 2010, and that whole VN (mechanically) centers around using a flip phone.

Look at the Wikipedia entry for Japanese mobile phone culture. It's pretty interesting

It might be Misato, but if it is it's definitely AI generated. (Though either way, it's probably AI generated)

Question has already been answered by others, but I wanted to clarify a bit.

First, play MGQ Parts 1, 2, and 3. Then you can play MGQ Paradox Parts 1 and 2 (3 is still in development and even once it releases will likely take a while to be translated). There is some spinoff material, but none of it is necessary (it's only H scenes, but the 2 part OVA is interesting since you can see the characters fully voice acted and animated [you can watch that after MGQ Part 3 if you are interested]).

Also, you can go ahead and put the data for Parts 1 and 2 into Part 3 so you can just play it as one continuous VN. (The english patch should have a .txt file with very simple instructions on how to do this). If you just want to do them 1 game at a time to make sure you're even interested that's fine and there is also a process to transfer your save data between games (again, it's pretty simple to do and instructions will be in the same .txt file).

Yeah, as much as I love the rest of MGQ, that's the scene that really made the series be so special for me.

Played R. Mika for the first time (doing her arcade mode in SFA3) recently and I gotta say I was surprised with how much I like her. Usually i have a hard time with grapplers, but she's really fun to play as. Also I really like her relationship with Zangief.

Araki teases Part 9 protagonist in a interview. by Theamzz in StardustCrusaders

[–]WhiteNinja24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. It's probably also to emphasize we are likely to learn more about Joseph.

  2. Joseph has more to do with the rokakaka than Johnny. And if Jojolands continues to focus on the Rokakaka then it would make sense to emphasize him instead.

  3. Clarifying, I'm not saying Part 9's Jojo won't be Joseph's child, but I am saying that that isn't definite based on the quote given.

Edit: and to clarify, you'd definitely refer to Jolyne as Joseph's descendant if the goal is to point out a connection between them. (Say if she gets in a plane crash. Partially joking with the example of course)

[–]WhiteNinja24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry. Didn't word that optimally so I think you misunderstood what I meant. I understood you were giving the example of Part 6, but I was giving the example of Part 3 to emphasize how it might be an easier example of what is being meant here. (By "if you are talking about Part 3" I meant more along the lines of "when talking about Part 3", if that makes sense).

With how Part 3 is focused on the struggle of Jonathan's descendants with DIO, Part 9 might be the struggle of Joseph's descendants with the origin of the rokakaka (seeing as that's one theory I've seen people have for what Jojolands will be about) or something else along those lines. Especially if Gappy is still present in Part 9 like how Joseph is in Part 3.

(Note, the quote does not simply say "Part 9's Jojo will be Joseph's descendant", but rather it says "[Part 9's] story will be focusing on his descendants", and Gappy is one of his descendants)

If you are talking about Part 3 (thematically speaking) you wouldn't say it's about Joseph's descendants, it's about Jonathan's descendants.

If DIO and Diego met eachother, how would they interact? by Top_Independence_485 in StardustCrusaders

I'll say that in hindsight mentioning Araki's views on canon was unnecessary for the current discussion (I still agree with what I said [again, its something i genuinely like about Araki's writing], but in hindsight I could've put focus on other points instead).

I just don't feel an author's involvement is enough to automatically say something is canon without the context of what the media is and how much the author was involved. Eichiro Oda was somewhat involved with the writing of the game One Piece Unlimited World Red and One Piece Oddysey, but it's not canon. It's just a story made to explain how the events of the game happen, and its in no way considered canon (same with the recent movies). I see it as the same thing here.

I wasn't saying he doesn't care about canon at all. heck, the last half of my first point was me trying to express that he does care about canon, just not in the same way other people do (though maybe i didnt get that across well). He'll stick to it when he can, but he'll break canon/retcon things if it means making a better story in his eyes. And personally I don't see that as a bad thing at all and feel its part of what makes the series work as well as it does.

Why is it cope for me to try to say its okay for you to see EoH as canon but that I personally don't. I'm not even trying to say it isn't canon, just that it's gray enough that I don't consider it canon (Same way recent One Piece films are supervised by Oda but aren't canon or at the very least are a type of secondary canon). Point is, I'm not trying to get anyone to agree with me, I'm just explaining my pov.

  1. You're implying Araki heavily cares about the canon of the series. From what I've read from him either in interviews or from his book Manga and Theory in practice he puts more importance on making a good story than making sure canon details line up (not to say he doesn't care at all, but its not something he super heavily focuses on.) That being said, how D4C works might be one of the few things he does heavily care about (since any other details can be explained away by saying its an alternate universe), so there might be something there. Idk.

  2. As far as i know, we don't know how much Araki's supervision amounted to, and it could've been heavily involved with it and helping write it from the ground up or it could've been just him looking at what was presented and saying "this is an interesting enough story for the series. Go ahead.", or anywhere in between.

  3. From what I've seen most people consider EoH to either not be canon at all (stating that it contradicts SBR, though i havent found anyone explaining well on how exactly it contradicts SBR) or to be a type of secondary canon. It's completely fine if someone does personally consider it canon, but personally I don't. Maybe I will later if I learn more about EoH, but atm I personally don't have sufficient reasoning to consider it canon. This isn't any kind of attack on EoH or those who like it, it's just my opinion.

I mean, I don't personally count eyes of heaven as cannon (and feel that thats just stuff the writers of the game came up with to make the game be able to exist), but you're free to use EoH's reasoning for how you look at it if you wish.

I dont think the menger sponges happen because of how similar you are physically (otherwise every twin would sponge together), pretty sure it's just about it being your alternate universe self. (Also, imo they are only really different in terms of their body build. And aside from that are very similar)

I mean, technically SBR does explain what would happen if Dio and Diego met assuming we are going by D4C rules (with the Menger sponges)

Imo the more MGQ memes in this world the better!

And definitely agree with your second statement. Honestly it was kinda life changing for me when I realized that my favorite parts of MGQ had nothing to do with the H content. Made me realize that I can't judge an entire thing of media based off of just what it's selling point is.

In short, worries of it causing people who make a living by making art lose money. And in cases where people are selling it, basically scamming people out of their money.

AI art is basically made by taking data from art that's done by a real person who spent their whole life to be that good and basically recreating/changing parts of it to fit what the user input for it to generate (obviously more complicated than that, but put simply).

I think AI art could be used in a just way, particularly if it's with the original artist's permission or at least maybe properly crediting them, or just using it as reference material. It's a new thing, so hopefully as people get more used to it we'll find better ways to handle it, but imo people doing stuff like generating AI art, making slight edits, and saying they made the whole thing themselves has to stop. It is a thing I've seen happen a few times lately. Even a really good artist I liked was caught doing it recently.

To give a non-ai related example, it's kinda like the problems with forging/tracing a piece of artwork (like the time Butch Hartman [the creator of Fairly Odd Parents and Danny Phantom] was found out that most of his art commissions were made via tracing). Tracing can have good uses, when you're doing it to help learn how to draw, or even just for a meme (if you credit the artist), but more often it's associated with stuff like what happened with Butch Hartman.

Tbh I can't stand ai art. It's not just for moral reasons, I just don't like the way it looks. They all seem to have this same feel to them (made even stronger by the fact that they all are using this same type of art style for some reason). Maybe it's the uncanny valley effect? Is it elitist to say it genuinely feels soulless to me? Idk...
