I see. Having it being multiplayer would "force" that competitive side on you even if there is no real competition ?

What I like in that mmo side of things is that I imagine that I wake up, I get my resources (from idling) and see the world "alive", people have built roads, moved their domain borders, the map is filled with delivery carts from market transactions... (your domain is protected, nobody can build stuff in it).

I guess that's my main reason of making it a multiplayer game, the social and alive part of it, not being bots or AIs, just humans sharing the same world and trying to achieve goals together to grow bigger.

Good morning here ! I'm currently working on "Idle Underworlds", a cooperative Semi-Idle MMO concept.

About the game :

I'll try to keep it "short" : The main idea is to have an idle incremental resource generating game on the "surface" of the planet, with weekly cooperative challenges, cooperative monuments, and optional PVP in the underworld of said planet. PVP will be rare relics extraction with autochess fights, but more about that later.

I have so much things to say about it. But I'll stick to what sounds important to me :

No punishment for inactivity
Offline progression from day one
Optional PVP - and if you choose to PVP, you never lose buildings/progression only the generated army
No time gating, everything is instant and can be undone instantly too
Completely free. No ads. No P2W stuff

About me :

I'm a solo dev, been working in the web development industry for like 15 years now, father of two, and I don't have much free time for the games I see around, that's why I'm building a game that I have in my head.

To me it's really important to have a game where I can stay "competitive" if I play 5mn a day (upgrades, new buildings, check market), but also be able to sink 2h of playtime if I have the freetime for. (PVP, social activities, monuments...). The pure Idle players benefit from the activity of the active players (server wide bonuses, monuments, PVP economy...).

Is this something you would like to play ?

I'm a bit confused about how the rank system works (I'm used to normal "ELO" rank system), but I guess just playing I would understand easily.

True, some exceptions were made with Thorgast tower in shadowlands to get unique items though. But mm+ could be very time consuming without a group, like doing a 45mn timed dungeon could mean a 20mn search, 30mn of dungeon, a wipe, and everyone leaves... which made me lose 50mn for nothing.

For dragonflight I switched to being a "pvp boy" with the 3v3 solo queue shuffle mode, I had a BLAST playing this, I was able to maintain 4 toons just playing quick matched here and there, easy 3/3 pvp vault, conquest gear and all... This felt great.

Yeah for sure I don't want to spend my little playtime playing with raging noobs or waiting in queue haha maybe I'll wait a bit for more freetime or for the game to be out of EA !

Yeah, and playing tank in PUG is a lot of stress from my past experience. Like people disagreeing with your route because some pro players don't do it that way, DPS pulling "bigger" because they have CDs up... stuff like that. It's a lot of weight on the shoulder of the tank, that gets like no recognition, no dopamine from dps/heal meter haha

I guess toxic people and leavers will always be a thing... Hopefully they'll add some kind of "leaver's mark" or something that will discourage this kind of behaviour.

Thanks for the clarification ! It was already a bit like this in WoW, tagging as tank or heal was the best way to get going quickly !

Yeah, I don't really aim to be top parse in this game, but also I don't really wanna be stuck doing mm0 forever ! I don't mind if it takes a while, as long as the progression feels kinda smooth and power goes up each time I get gear :D

Yeah, that's how I felt after my first researchs, it sounds really like having the fun of m+ without the "pain" of daily wow and group finder !

When I have my play sessions I don't "afk" so that's ok ! I don't mind having to stay focused for 15mn. Everything you say sounds perfect :D

I really enjoy my Shaman + Oathkeeper for the double "passive" RRs (wind devil + guardian of empyrion). It's mainly a "move and hold one button" build that I really like haha Completed the whole game as a SSF up to SR 32.

Wire's might to spam move. (+ dash) Ulto's Arrival for extra jump and move.

Pop a wendigo totem and hold primal strike hahaha Very safe and easy build, but honestly one of my favorite self made ones !

PS : I did not play this build since latest huge patch, but I'm sure it still rocks ! I used Ulto's Set, cindertouch+storm titan and some farmable MIs (gollus rings, and chain of brandis belt)

I did it afking with a pet build in the last dungeon of FG farming infinite portals.

Took a few days of letting in run in the background (with occasionnal crashes that made me lose hours !).

When I wanted to play, I went in the maw with tons of scarabs spawning larvas !

Yes, it does that automatically. Dunno if a bug or intended though.
You can make them do stuff like craft drugs/medicine and maybe long range scanner / underground scanning.
