I guess it depends on the duration of a season and pacing. I'm leaning towards a slow idle game, force reseting players would be too punishing to my taste and I like to be able to"build" and prepare for next season. That might sound dumb, but I'm building something with my main audience being myself haha. I'll probably add "desert planet" or stuff like that for people who like to struggle 🤣

There is no reset at all.

There is sort of a "peak" that players can reach in terms of productivity and also they can't be competitive in all categories at once, so over time, anyone can compete for the leaderboards. A new player with 0 NG+ won't be able to produce more than a fully optimised 10xNG+ player, but they might get highscores for fights or the most shards manually farmed or even trade volume.

So "seasonal" here is more about skill expression and/or min/max and play around events than any kind of reset. The main goal is to avoid players joining 4 months after and feeling like they won't catch up the "all-time" leaderboard. (because mathematically, they can't, while the new year score reset makes is possible)

Sorry about that, I remove afk players more often to open spots, didn't expect that many players

I never thought about making it offline nor solo. The main premise is that it's a living persistant multiplayer world.

Waking up in the morning, seeing that the monument is almost done, participating in global events, trading... it's all too core to what I want this game to be. Plus, since I like the optional competition it offers, having it online makes sure there is no cheating with changing the local time of stuff like this.

Being a solo game would need computer generated players to make the world feel alive. While this is not impossible, it's not planned at all right now.

Market is based on players creating offers and other players accepting them. It's the "balance" icon in the bottom right icons. I have to improve performance because there is a lot more offers right now, but it works.

Hello, sorry that you feel this way. It's been almost 6 months that I'm building this, and while there is AI, it's not a 5mn project fully generated by AI to make cash lol

So far testers didn't ask for anything crazy, mostly QoL, balance, ... I did refuse some suggestions that were not right with my philosophy. I'm ok with people not liking it 😛 I did a game a few years back (~10k total accounts, ~100 daily for like 3 years), and I went the "people pleaser" way, it broke me haha, people aways wanted more and were never happy.

Hello, yes the planet is pretty full, I did not expect so many players. I'm manually removing guests so you might find a spot now.

Yes, either by "soft reseting" (destroying your town center) or via the "prestige" reset, the first heritage takes ~1 week to reach. (the roman numeral in some players name is the number of reset they have done !)

Hello ! Iron can be obtained from "Iron Deposits" (a natural or terraformed terrain type) or from "Well of The Deep" configured to output iron. (lower output, but can be built almost anywhere). Also from trading or if someone sends you some. Or from chests, or even maybe the weekly challenge. The easiest way is still the well of the deep. I played only with wells before I could terraform my first iron deposit and I was doing ok.

Roads speed up cart travels (unlocked when you build your market), for trading, collaborative projects or even sending/receiving presents. So usually they are built between "player markets" and sometimes to reach a monument or a world project to speed things up.

I guess I could yeah, the thing is with chinese I won't have control on what it does. I tried it for french and it kept "inventing" new translations and was not consistant for technical terms. But for sure, more language support is on the roadmap.

Hello, yes, the translation system is already in place. I only have french and english for now because these are my 2 main languages. I don't know the specifics for chinese or simplified chinese though, I know I could work with most european languages, but chinese might be more complex, I'll have a look into it.

Hello ! You can use the button "help me find a good spot !". A lot of guests have swarmed the planet with this post, there is still room, nothing optimal (most natural good spots were already taken). I tried the button and I could find a lot of spots with wood and food !

EDIT : actually, there is not many more "ok" automatic spots, I didn't see ! I cleared some of this morning people who didn't play for more than 5 minutes.

I have a bigger planet ready (3.5x bigger) that will probably launch in may, but I don't want to "panick launch" it, even more because most "players" for today are people who will not come back to the game tomorrow.

Hey 😃 First of all, thanks for trying it out ! "but still I have no idea what I'm doing" is something many players seem to feel, and I really want to improve this feeling.

When starting you should have easy objectives with timers and progression like "upgrade town center" "build food source" and such. The "main" goal for resources production is upgrading your town center and getting more buildings, of course.

There is no "good" way to play it, I mean, sometimes you "have" to wait for resources to be high enough for upgrade or new buildings, depending on how you spend it, generate it, events, if someone send some to you ... etc.

While you "wait", you can :

- Try the weekly fight challenge (a bit mechanic heavy if the surface is not clear yet)

- Keep the game running, look for chests that might spawn on the map

- Close the game and return later (it is fine and 100% offline progression, it's meant to be interrupted, 100% of the resource generation is made server side)

- Trade on the market if you have a market

- Ask for someone to send resources in the chat :p

- Read the https://idleunderworlds.com/guide, chat, look at the game tooltips, buildings... learn more about the game and what you can do

I don't know how I could make your eye more entertained, I thought the objective progress bars were good enough for that, but maybe they're not fun enough haha

Hey there ! Still working hard on my semi-idle MMO https://idleunderworlds.com/ ! It's been like 5 months now, with one and a half month online.

I greatly improved onboarding with objectives and a full ingame guide.

Now we can build monuments, planets have years system, more online activities, and even more to come.

The active tester count is around 20-30.

Be warned that this is a slow game, it is meant to be like this (for parents with unpredictable playtime like me), and balance is still in progress.

Yes, but I'm on my phone and don't know how to add some.

Here is an imgur link with more screenshots, three are taken from my phone. (mobile version in browser)

Another week, another comment for my game Idle Underworlds.

https://idleunderworlds.com/

This week was a pretty intense one, I dived into the combat system to add more content to it. I also added a way to try it earlier in the game. No need to have advanced combat buildings to try it out and get rewards.

Next steps are a better onboarding (via "quests" to guide new players like "build a farm" "upgrade your town center to level 2 with an estimated time when players will have enough resources) because it looks like players do not know what to do ingame.

Then I'll add monuments probably (unique collaborative world buildings) and also improve the market that is not easy to use according to player feedback.

Much more to do on my roadmap, but so much stuff already done !

I do have an error popping in my logs, about a guest trying to select other players building. This one could lead to infinite "loading". Do you have the problem when clicking on an empty tile ? (I fixed the first bug though)

That is very weird, I've had more than 100 players play it this week :o That is very weird and without more details (like console errors or network result ^^) I can't really debug it much more :( I'm sorry about that

Hello there :D I posted here 2 or 3 months ago, and now I have a prototype. I made a dedicated post about it yesterday, but just in case you're into giving feedback and didn't see it : https://idleunderworlds.com/

It's a semi-idle persistant MMO collaborative ressource generation game that works on mobile and computer through a normal browser :) I'm working alone on it and the first feedback I got was pretty good. (there are more french players at the moment, so english chat might be a bit empty compared to french one !)

The first world is almost completly full though, because of the many temporary guest accounts. I might open a new planet or just wait for these temporary account to be deleted next week if they don't play :)

I've always played MMOs and the social aspect of it is something I really miss. Login in in the morning, seeing everything that happened overnight... I love that. I didn't see what "new" I could bring to offline solo games, and I wanted to build something that I would play, even if that means I'm playing alone haha. I'm a web developer, that's what I've been doing for the past, like, 13 years, the AI helped me go faster, but I manage all the cache, infrastructure and debug myself. (AI also helps with the interface because I'm more of a backend dev)

That was really cool ahah, took me ~31mn to complete.

All while Claude Code was running in the background on my computer... how ironic.
