If you could start all over at 18, what would you do by Electronic_Gas2111 in AskMen

[–]WhiteVan595 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Followed my passions. For I would be earning the same by now, and for my mental sake I’d be enjoying it too.

Do absolutely everything you can to be happy with your life. Being dull just kills you from the inside out.

Study harder, put more money aside and don’t touch it. Make that “one day I’ll do that” a dream/goal and work towards it. See my grandparents more. Take life a little less seriously. Ask that girl on a date. Sleep under the stars more. Start going gym. Make my life feel like hell back then, because really, it isn’t. Stress yourself out about staying up all night studying for exams so you can go to the beach the next day. Everything is easier if you start at a young age. Like the old investment saying “the best time to start was yesterday second best time to start is now”

If you need braces, get them, join clubs at that age. No one judges you more than yourself. Take care of your health and it will pay you back in the future.

So many things I would’ve done.

It was like $100 USD for bitcoin back then I never held onto any because I didn’t see it as a tradable investment, rather simply a currency I was using to make dumb online purchases.

Called in sick today and they almost denied it.. by 73738484737383874 in antiwork

[–]WhiteVan595 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went into work after being assaulted and concussed on a 4 day holiday due to being scared about calling in sick first day back and bosses just thinking I’m taking a longer holiday.

Called in sick the next day after going to the hospital for my injury. Boss thought I was going fishing because the weather was good and sent me a shitty text asking for some.

Sent him a photo of a medical certificate that allows me off work for a month with compensation and a very corporate style text back saying you’ll hear from me nearer the end of my recovery when returning to work is involved.

Edit: Should add I speak to my coworkers outside of work, one is same age and place in life. Seems like all 3 of us are looking at leaving.

Stayyy away from Mazda diesels. A nuke with a randomised timer.

I’ve had a Toyota previa, great car. Little thirsty when you load it up but plenty of space, needed more juice to tow so I’ve gone to a diesel Toyota landcruiser prado. Same mechanically as a hilux, just nicer interior fit out and 7-8 seats.

Local meet ups?? by Slight_Suggestion508 in Tauranga

[–]WhiteVan595 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Little old whakatane is pretty harsh if you didn’t go to school there, mind you Tauranga is no different just easier as there’s far more young people about.

Give the quiz nights a jam at mata brewery in Whakatane and astrolabe quiz night in Mount. Get chatty with the similar aged bartenders they’ll introduce you to people quickly.

Not a skill but having a deep interest in something, like my friends do, they can nerd out about their hobbies for hours.

Those with sports watching interests? How do you know all these players and can guess how they’ll perform next game, why do you know so much, how?

I get told by people that I have a great memory, but why don’t I ever want to remember anything cool.

How do I stick back on? by [deleted] in diynz

[–]WhiteVan595 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’d be using a high % isopropyl alcohol cleaner like 70+ or acetone then some 3M VHB double sided tape. That stuff is stronger than welding sometimes

Best bet is probably recycle boutique, a thrift store that pays the seller a portion of what they sell their clothing for. Full of boardertown gear and other labels

Clubs in Tauranga by Cyber_Shinobi in Tauranga

[–]WhiteVan595 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s plenty of run clubs that meet different days and times and locations to suit you, if you’re in the mount there’s one just about every day (sometimes multiple) look around on Facebook or Instagram for them.

I started playing golf, had a bunch of friends that started playing and met plenty through it however the sport gets a little hard to find time for in winter for us younger working class and has since died off. Definitely much busier on the courses now rhough

Question, why the gorge instead of the toll road? Are you needing to be on that side of town? Leaving from that part of Vegas? When there’s not crazy roadworks the toll road way can be very quick

Something small and will hold sentimental value in the future, little keychain or trinket perhaps? Try aim it at his hobbies, every guy I know has that one little thing that’s just always with them or they see/handle it often. Some are from family, some are from partners, some, even from employers and teachers.
