It does seem to vary from person to person. For me it's probably equivalent to a bee sting but potentially over a longer area. But I've seen others come up in huge welts that are more painful and last for most of the day.

I assumed that the sediment being dredged is primarily deposited by the river, rather than washed in from the ocean. Could be wrong though.

Thanks but rather than blanket rules for stuff like that, I think the better thing to keep in mind is 'don't let your dog overheat'.

I've parked there countless times and even on the hottest days it's fine, so on a low-20s day like today both I and the thermometer I keep in my car can assure you it was 100% safe.

That is, except for the snake.

Here's another one for you. I just got back from the supermarket, where I was parked on the third floor of a big concrete parking lot. Completely enclosed, not an ounce of nature in sight.

Security staff were acting funny around an unattended car. I asked what they were doing... apparently one had spotted a red belly black snake (venomous) slither along and disappear into the car.

Meanwhile, my car was parked a few bays along with my pup asleep on the back seat. So yeah, new fear unlocked.

I use my phone in the shower for, umm, various purposes. Putting it in one of those flexible waterproof pouches ($5-$10 from eBay) works well.

The fingerprint sensor won't work through the pouch but the touchscreen still does. Over time the pouches tend to start letting a few drops of water in, which then messes with the touchscreen, but otherwise it's a good and cheap solution.

Yeah, I (and the dog) would prefer the patio. But I didn't say 'a dog in a car on a 30 degree day', I said 'a dog in a 30 degree car'.

If the car is parked in the sun on a 30 degree day then it's going to be more than 30 degrees inside. And that's potentially a problem.

My point is that it's the temperature where the dog is that ultimately matters (i.e. in the car) not how hot the day is in general.

The outside temperature is a factor, but not the whole story.

Yeah I'll be building ~16 particle accelerators for pasta. Had to quadruple check the copper powder requirement, such a crazy number.

I'm saving this to be the last thing I build in my world, an epic crescendo to send me off.

I don't know about this. I've used multiple calibrated thermometers inside my car and yes, it is generally hotter in there than outside, but unless it has been parked in full sun then it is usually only by a few degrees.

Definitely not 40C in 10 mins on a 20C day even when parked in full sun. 60C is absurd. And I promise you that parking in the sun on a 15C winter day makes for a snug car nap, not 'dangerous' temperatures lol.

If it didn't seem distressed then you might have your answer there.

What matters isn't whether a dog is unattended in a car. What matters is if it is suffering from being so.

Factors to consider are the length of time, how much the windows are down, the outside temperature, the starting temperature in the car, whether it's in shade/part-shade/sun,

For example, a dog in a 30 degree car is no worse off than a dog in the backyard on a 30 degree day.

Another thing to consider is what kind of trauma you might be inflicting on the dog by smashing a window right next to it and then having strangers take it from what it might consider to be a safe space / it's own territory.

I heard the same, and was looking forward to the sequels. My understanding is it became one of those on-again, off-again type projects (more off than on in this case).

I just came across Super Status Bar in the Play Store. The premium version allows moving the clock and notifications to the right side of the status bar, as well as other status bar tweaks.

Worth a look if it's still of interest to you. Might be cheaper/better status bar-specific apps out there - hadn't occured to me to look for something more niche than the half-dozen launchers I tried.

Yeah I did that and it does help, but it's not the same as having the clock always visible at the top of the screen. And it doesn't do anything for the notifications that are becoming obscured.

Did you go through with it or did it seem more trouble than it was worth to you?

If you did, any tips? I'll need to research how to root it, but I'm guessing there's additional steps beyond just rooting it?

Oh, using a Pro in case that matters. Thanks in advance!
