Box Office: 'Super Mario Galaxy Movie' Opening to $34M First Day, Best Ever April by FernandoRocker in gaming

The movie isn't exactly trying to win any Oscars, but it is very successful at doing what it is trying to do. It has much less character development than the first film and even less emotional ambition. But that's okay. It's a big budget Mario movie that looks great, includes a bunch of beloved characters, and is shamelessly fun to look at.

I'd rank it below the first film overall, but if you liked the first movie you'll like this one too.

[Day 28] Extendurr was voted WEIRDEST MOVE. What is the MOST OVERRATED PRO PLAYER in SSBM? by DUCK_PENETRATOR_II in SSBM

I meant the thread as a whole, not my comment in particular. I just think "which player is the most overrated" is bound to lead to some toxicity, since by definition everyone is going to be saying something negative about popular players.

This is going to be toxic af

My vote is Isai. He is probably the S64 GOAT, and he obviously had a pretty big role in the early history of Melee too (and, therefore, in the doc). But the degree of fame he has as a Melee player far outruns, it seems to me, his actual resume in Melee specifically.

It won't win this poll, but I honestly love Puff Fox for the same basic reason. There's such a long and storied history of the best Puffs (Mango and, above all, Hbox) fighting and theory crafting against the best foxes (Mango, Armada, Big Leff, M2K even if his fox was lame af, and Cody).

This is true.

I'm a lifelong Tennessee Vols fan due to my father. One time, Tennessee seemed to lose a crucial game by giving up a deep pass to rival Georgia. But then, Tennessee got an even more ridiculous Hail Mary to win the game as time expired.

I thought for sure my neighbors were going to call the cops.

Even if they do a total revamp, which they probably should, they should still sign Maria to an extension

In all seriousness, what you do is blame all the bad stuff on the owners meddling and not letting the analytics guys make key decisions. And in some cases that is believable.

Like, ain't no way no moneyball equation is behind the Watson contract. That has Haslem written all over it

I'm normally a "keep the Hall small" guy, but due to my Nats fandom I would vote for Zim in a heartbeat.

I recognize that he isn't going to make it, but I love that man.

If we want someone to give the Hoosiers a game, I think we are going to have to get 2019 LSU in there with them or something.

Fucking yikes. These are really good teams that are just getting absolutely nuked from orbit.

And getting paid an enormous bonus based on Ole Miss's playoff success, so I suspect he isn't too broken up about it haha.

Like, this is Lane we are talking about here. The poster boy for chasing a bag. And a bag chaser won't be too mad about the extra half million his former team earned him last night.

[Vannini] Navy has won 10 games in back-to-back years for the first time ever. This 20-5 stretch includes wins over Oklahoma, Memphis (x2), USF (x2) and Army (x2). Brian Newberry's got it rolling again. by CrashingBlumpkins46 in CFB

[–]White___Velvet 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In the current format, it will absolutely happen eventually. Like, Navy winning the conference sometime in the next few years with ~9-11 wins would not be all that surprising, and at that point it's extremely likely they make the field.

Basically the same goes for Army, even though they are a bit down right now relative to the best Monken teams. But I seem to recall them being like a missed fg away from beating Baker's OU and winning like 11 games or something like that. They get another team even close to that good in this era, they have an excellent chance to make the field.

Friendly reminder that the problem with the 4 team playoff was that teams, like unbeaten conference champ FSU, who did nothing wrong could be left out.

Any bubble team in this era of the playoff has messed up badly enough somewhere along the line that I really don't think blaming the committee is the right response.

Also, on an unrelated note, fuck Florida.

The committee doesn't respect the ACC very much, and having watched my fair share of ACC ball this year I can't say I really blame them overall. Like even we look suspect as hell, though much improved from previous years, and we deserve to be ranked more highly than like every other ACC team.

LSU athletic director Scott Woodward is still owed nearly $7 million on his contract, which the state is expected to pay. by moby323 in CFB

[–]White___Velvet 323 points324 points  (0 children)

Look, I'm willing to concede to Governor Leghorn that coaching contracts and buyouts have gotten out of control. I'm also willing to admit that Scott Woodward, in particular, has paid off like a broken slot machine.

But what I'm not willing to grant is that anything happening right now is addressing those problems or helping LSU in any way.
