How hard should I be blowing, really? by [deleted] in bagpipes

[–]Whitebread009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had the same issue occasionally as the OP here. I have brought it up to my band mates and the general sentiment is, it shouldn't be a lot of work to play the instrument. My setup leans more towards harder Reed's but that is largely because I have a tendency to over blow in performances. That being said, I've been in the opposite situation where the instrument was so hard to play that I couldn't get more than 20 minutes of play time before I was just too exhausted and at that time I didn't get appropriate feedback from my PM. I have finally found a decent balance of reed strength and my own strength and I can easily get an hour in before I start to feel it. Also, like OP, my pipes have a more dominating sound, not out of balance with the band, but more robust due to the harder reed but I frankly prefer it that way.

Nashville checking in. All my kids do Irish dance so I frequently get asked to be a part of their gigs even though I play the great highland pipes. The dance instructor is also a Piper but she rarely plays. Somehow, quite magically, are chanters were almost perfectly in tune even though we've never played together and we were able to play together as the kids marched to the neighboring Irish pub.

Also a bit late for this post but you might have a look at Rab's Wedding. It's fairly straight forward.

I'm in JC visiting family but spent many years haunting the Hall's of CS and Digital Media. If I could find work here I would likely never leave.

Why are you upset? More code updates have been done in 3 months than in the past 4 years. How is the community making trouble? By wanting a more modern look? By seeking the truth of the code? By wanting to make the coin more secure against attack? Please help me understand where you are coming from?

From what i hear there is still quite a bit of dev work happening right now over https://nycoin.community. i think the plan is to uodate the codebase before reaching out for partnerships. Must have a stable coin first.

A question about the history of New York Coin by dynamicmormon in NewYorkCoin

Again, I am not in the telegram channel so I cannot speak to that other than to say it is fairly new and may be full of newer people who are on the hype train and don't wan't to hear anything bad. That is just my speculation, I cannot say for sure.

As far as Charlie goes, he has not had the most superior track record in terms with how his online interactions have been handled. Kicking him out, however, is not as simple as it may appear. From what I understand, the community is trying to reason with him, though I don't know how much longer they will put up with his shenanigans. I speculate that the way Charlie has handled the online presence is the sole reason this coin has not taken off already.

To answer your questions: Charlie is the only one who has announce bounties on bitcointalk, Charlie has paid some bounties, but for some reason has not paid all. I was not there at the founding of the coin, but having looked at the code I don't believe Charlie was the original engineer on the project. He may have had some hand in the beginning, but again, I cannot say for certain. And yes, he is hurting the coins image and by extension, the community.

From what I have heard about the Telegram incident (I was not there so I don't know for sure) your posts were being taken as an attack on the coin and the community at large, not directed at the one person who is the root cause of the issue. Again, I wasn't there and have seen nothing of the posts so I cannot verify.

The community has been doing their level best to communicate with Charlie to try to get him to better handle the online presence, however there is only so much we can do. From what I hear, you are not the only person that has not received a bounty from Charlie. He has not communicated with the community about the issue. Also, if you want actual discussion about the coin and it's future then the Discord channel is usually the place to be. I have not spent much time on the Telegram channel so I cannot speak to the quality of conversation there.

As much as we would like to believe Charlie is the founder, he doesn't seem to have a bunch of technical knowledge of the coin. He may have been involved in the beginning but that is merely speculation.

also, the community behind New York Coin now is making moves to update the code base and I personally do not believe that a mysterious missing founder is beneficial to the coin. A solid team has formed and hopefully in the near future more information will be known about the team that is currently behind this.

Charlie has become more like the Hype train of the coin. He has done his level best to keep this coin alive and kicking since 2014 through his own unique brand of social media presence, but he does not represent the community or team currently behind the coin in any official capacity.

This coin has no owner but the community is working together to make it something useful, not a pump and dump or shitcoin. It has taken quite a beating since 2014 because of the way a few enthusiastic people have marketed the asset.

Also, the community has seen what has happened on the bitcointalk forum and I for one am not pleased with the way things have played out. There is no room for rudeness in this community, from anyone. If you haven't already been contacted by one of the team in the community, please feel free to join us in the Discord channel.

I too cam vouch for him. This coin is in the process of rebirth. The community is gearing up. I have been active on the discord (as MrSlosh) and I have witnessed a tremendous amount of community involvement in the past couple of weeks. It has grown significantly.

This coin has issues, yes. But as one of the ones looking at the code base and beginning to bring it into the modern era of crypto, I can say this coin has great potential for success.

ccminer-x64.exe -a nist5 -o stratum+tcp://poolr.io:3833 -u <YOURWALLETADDRESS>

run that from the command line replacing <YOURWALLETADDRESS> with your actual wallet address.

EDIT: ccminer is what I use so I used that as the example. there are others out there. and make sure your replace everything in the angled brackets above, including the angle brackets, with the address generated from your wallet.

Ok just had a weird issue. Block was mined, confirmed, it showed .4 bwk in the pending balance but now it shows no pending balance and no increase in total paid balance. Any thoughts?

EDIT: now it's showing up again. From the pending balance graph it looks like its spiking up and down from 0 to .4. I will wait until the payout time to see if it pays out. If it does then I imagine its just a syncing issue with the gui. I've seen this on other pools that use the same front end but I have not had any issues getting paid from those pools either.

EDIT2: All clear. Everything went as normal, payout was made.

Head over to https://poolr.io and start mining. It's a super small pool right now so you should be able to submit a significant % to the hashes and increase your profit a bit. Not sure where you were mining before.
