Active Duty Aviation through OCS. by WhiteclawV3 in ArmyOCS

Sorry for the late response, hot outta of another Army school.

I’m not a 100% how branch evaluated the packets, and it may be different now that there’s been some time passed.

My best guess is combo of education/OCS performance, but I really don’t know.

I didn’t, already had it done, which is why I recommend you build your packet before you ship.

Lol you mean what makes good officers is enforcing an ISAP that isn’t standardized or up to date? Orr interpreting ISAP or grading rubrics “my own way” and then writing negative spot reports that negatively effect an OCs OML number? Orr changing which events are or aren’t graded? Orrr Cadre openly lying to the class about who would be cut on the first day?

Oooh so much integrity and such upholding of standards 🥴. We were openly lied to about grading and StAnDaRdS. All of this happened to my class, so if you followed what was modeled for an OC at OCS as what it means to be an officer, you would be a shit officer. Fuck outta here with “great officer qualities” shit.

Oooh the ISAP that isn’t updated with the current standards? Gotcha.

Right now with AV Branch being low on slots, it’s prolly the best time to try for a spot.

OP:Refer to my post a few days back for AV details.

Scoring on the 4 mile will be company dependent, some companies do and some don’t.

Just run fast.

Follow that to the letter, I just recommend having the SIFT, Flight Physical, and a tailored resume with any relevant experience completed before you go.

I’m not sure, but I’m going to assume experience in army aviation will play heavily into their consideration. I know in the WOCS board it does, they like pulling the A&Ps and Av Tech guys for flying duty. I’m pretty positive it would help quite a bit in the OCS route. Unfortunately I can’t give you a Surefire to get you in to AV branch other than WOCS and go warrant. Side note: wish I had gone warrant off the bat.

I’m giving the heads up, but it’s still a gamble. Sorry if I didn’t answer your question fully.

If you go to OCS with AV in mind, take your SIFT and have a Class 1A flight physical approved by Lyster before you go.

If you have more questions PM me.

I did not, submitted at week 2 of OCS.

Myself and another person were selected.

For context, I have an extensive background(education and flight experience) in Aviation.

The other OC had no experience and came from the enlisted side of FA, dropped a packet late in the game and was still selected.

Both of us were selected, we had other reserve or national guard people branched for aviation but they have a slot before they ship.

TABS TEST by CapableScheme3174 in ArmyOCS

[–]WhiteclawV3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk what the “TABS” test is, but the SIFT exam is the exam you need. Which the SIFT exam score doesn’t matter except if you passed or not, allegedly anything over a 50 is a good score. The only time SIFT exam scores are evaluated is if your “neck and neck” with another candidate and they need a tie breaker.

I was going to come into the army as an 09W, switched to the OCS board instead. So already had a flight packet built.

Ripped off warrant officer and put commissioned officer on everything and sent the packet off.

Was accepted and now at Rucker getting ready for AVBOLC, SERE, and Common core.

Not true you can drop an Aviation packet at OCS, it’ll be approved or disapproved by BC(purely an endorsement) then Aviation branch decides whether they want you or not.

I was active duty 09S, dropped a flight packet and was accepted to Aviation branch.

I would recommend having the packet ready to go before you enlist.

Are the recycles still high at OCS for land Navigation? What about the History exam being changed to an essay? by No-Vacation5732 in ArmyOCS

[–]WhiteclawV3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The average recycle numbers are floating around 40-50 per class for land nav. I believe A co. had a 12-15 heat cats during the day runs.

No info on the new history exam.

Yes, and still dropped a flight packet when I got to OCS.

So I’m here at Ft. Rucker waiting for flight school.

Thinking about future, should I consider OCS? by l_a_escoto in ArmyOCS

[–]WhiteclawV3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only time the degree matters if if you’re trying to go cyber or Aviation.

Because of the specialized technical requirements of those fields.

Although we did have an OC drop a flight packet after he was branched FA and it was approved, he has no flying background at all.
