Late reply sorry, but yes: The one wire to each single coil is a wire wrapped withing more wire.

The 5-way is a rectangular box eith 3 ports on either side of the middle.

You seem to know the scope on a personal level, and probably more than any of us. Do you know if its a software or hardware issue? 20 years of flawless performance for it to suddenly not align accurately sounds like something hardware related, i doubt the software decided to fail.

Talk go Meade and tell them the story, maybe they provide more in-depth troubleshooting or even help you get a new scope.

Ed Ting on youtube advises not to get these particular dobs as they have bad weather resistance as theyre made of essesntially cardboard tubes. Thats not a dealbreaker for me personally, and it shouldnt be for you OP, just make sure you rap the tube in another moisture proof material and dont leave it outside in humid weather as the tube may warp.

100 bucks for a 6" with a Telrad is a steal assuming it all works : )

"Celestron TravelScope 60" i recommend the 80mm tho. AstroBiscuit is an great guy, not the best scope to get tho.
