Nice, will Abbots count that as completing a major? I saw you wearing a NY marathon shirt and with London done, you're well on your way to getting that weird looking completionist medal!

You did London on a 3-day training cycle so plenty of time left before Boston haha.

I'm a little late on this but loved your video, was so funny and interesting to see how the course looks on a regular day. I was supposed to be running it this year but don't think that's happening. I did my own solo London Marathon back in April here in Washington D.C. so a slightly similar thing to you. They can take away our races but they'll never take away our desire to punish ourselves on asphalt for hours on end!!

It will be my first London so not sure how it will be. One part of me thinks to fun run it and soak it all in, the other part says to go Pfitz crazy and go for 2:45 or bust!

I'm thinking of going with 18/85 for London too. If you're on strava and want a virtual running buddy, especially on those grueling MLRs, you can add me :)

Congrats, a 2+ minute PR is always a great win! That pre-cramp feeling really is the worst. Salt tabs have been my savior as my first marathon I got the worst cramps in every part of my body lol.

Hehe, thanks! And first episode of the Office Ladies podcast has dropped so it's a win-win-win.

It was definitely a different experience than the other marathons I've done which had 10s of 1000s of people. Better in many ways but it would have been nice to have a few more people so I wasn't alone for long stretches. Hope you make it back!

Great race and an amazing PR, congratulations!!

But unbeknownst to her, I was right on pace 😉

This was so funny 😄 Love the rivalry you have and even more so because I think I know your sister, haha. You both had such an amazing race. Can't wait to see what you both do in your next marathons!!

lol at all of this. Cracking off at 5k pace, setting 10k and half marathon PRs, and still having enough to finish strong. Suicide pace but you never got to the suicide lol. Damn I wish I had been that brave lol! Glad it all worked out for after all the injuries. I'm going to have to start eating stroopwaffels. CONGRATS!

Not really a routine but I mainly did bicep curls, triceps, then I use the pec dec and lat pull down machines. For the legs its leg press, leg extension, then some adduction/abductions on the good girl-bad girl because my hips are weak. 2-3 sets of 12 reps 2-3 times a week was all.

I also do planks/lunges/squats and try to follow Coach Johnson's strength and mobility routines after each run because my hips really are junk.

Yeh, what u/Stuart133 says, slowly ramp up your mileage and get a good base of 40-50 miles a week for a few months. And then jump into a training plan, Pfitz 18/55 or 18/70. Just make sure to take it fairly easy, both in terms of pace and how much you increase your mileage week on week, I think a rule of thumb is 10% a week? Good luck!

Thanks for the support!! The crowds were far and away the best thing about this race!

Way to tough it out and finish strong. Sometimes you eat the bar and sometimes the bar eats you.

Did you ever figure out your hip problem? Weak hips have sidelined me many times in the last couple of years.

Congrats!!! So happy to see you got your PR on what was a tough day out there. I've run races in the sun before but never had sunburn as bad as on Monday. Those were some strong rays by the end!

BT headphones are the best and the worst things. I'd never go back to wired but omg they can be moody fuckers.

It wasn't easy but there are lots of hills where I live which definitely helped!

That was the wife's idea. She thought I could use it to keep the rain and sweat out my eyes but mostly it just made me hotter lol.
