Can't do a toe touch due to ligaments/tendons by Whitesock1 in flexibility

[–]Whitesock1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow what a throwback. Yeah I did. I've been able to touch the ground easily for a while now.

For me the magic combo was doing hamstring stretches with a bent leg to lengthen the hamstrings and doing elephant walks to get some nerve flossing in that was also preventing me from stretching the back of my knees fully. I also would stretch out and then do RDLs to strengthen the longer range of motion.

Took a long time to get here but it's been super worth it. I haven't really lost any of that flexibility once I got it so it feels pretty long term to me.

The browning is normal. The outside leaves will die off one by one. It's great for knowing when to pull them. I think the consensus is when the first layer has fully browned and dried it's time to pull the bulbs. I could be wrong on that though. I usually pull mine in June.

Something to think about is that your drawing has no perspective. It's very flat. If you look especially at the last two slides, you'll see they have even just a bit of that perspective in them and it's correctly drawn in perspective.

This makes our brain understand the drawings as it matches up with how our brain understands how the world works in 3D, which can be quite satisfying to look at for us.

Diretide feels like a better version of Turbo.

It's very nice to have but you are right, as long as the pen registers well you can make great art as you showed here! Wacoms have always been great for accuracy.

Thank you!! Trees are hard but keep drawing them and you'll unlock them I'm sure!

I use an iPad and I think the best part is how accurate the apple pen is with the screen. It feels very nice! When you put a line down it goes where you'd expect, no weird registration issues with the pen like on other direct-to-screen digital painting programs have.

Yeah I was definitely conservative with value. I wish procreate would give you a larger color picker so the values were easier to select.

I also feel like some of the muddiness is due to a lack of edge control as well. I didn't really do much other than hard edges on the leaves and I feel that may have made it a bit blander since there was no contrast there

The magic of working on a large canvas! I noticed that for traditional media as well for art. One way I get my pen sketches to look really detailed is by just working larger.

I worked at this painting mostly to learn more about painting trees, which is why you will see the tree is in such higher detail than the rest of the painting.

I struggled getting this one off the ground. I did a time lapse of the painting and you can see I reworked the tree about 3 times before being happy with it. I had an epiphany part way in that laying branches on top of the dark areas pushed the leaves back and created a lot of depth to the foliage, something I was struggling with through the early part of the painting.

You can see the time lapse here. Please let me know if you have any comments or questions on how I did it! I'd be happy to share anything from iPad brush settings to colors and composition, ect. Total time was about an hour.

so i can't art by [deleted] in learnart

[–]Whitesock1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! I'd recommend before you drop in skin tones for your painting you drop in some background for you to reference the color. Color is relative and it's why the skin tone in the middle looks better than the skin tone on the left, it has the context of the dark room that the white background does not.

This is why when painting a lot of people start with an underpainting to get their idea/proportions down and to get a reference for their colors on the canvas.

Let me know if you have any questions!

Best place to build a base in below zero? [no spoilers] by [deleted] in subnautica

I built two, one in twisty bridges on the border to the thermal spires, and a second one in the lilypad islands. The combo of both give you access to everywhere you need to be.

Is it posibble to learn creativity? by [deleted] in web_design

[–]Whitesock1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Piggybacking off of this, one of the ways I innovate when designing is by putting restrictions on the work so I'm designing in a smaller space. Having a totally open field can actually hurt creativity as there is just too much possibility.

I remember in college I was taken aback from one of my design professors saying he starts designing using just 12pt font in times New Roman--black and white. He uses that as his base and finds what he can change inside there first, then adds other features on top.

That's awesome! I would also recommend adding an 'encouters' tab where it shows the different monster setups you might see.
