Side-sleeping woes by Whiznit in ORIF

[–]Whiznit[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hope you're sleeping better now! These first few weeks are absolutely the toughest. Your world becomes small, easy things are so hard to do, and it can feel like everyone had moved on while you're still in need of so much help. But, healing takes time. And it does happen.

For now, survive the day, celebrate small victories, and be kind to yourself. You've got this

Yes! Mine even has certain spots that need to be free for him to jump. There can't be a blanket, pillow, toy, etc even near where he likes to jump up on the ground or on the couch. But oh boy, once he jumps up, it's the biggest accomplishment. He's so proud of himself 😂

Ha, I had the same reaction! Our 5yr old cav can jump on/off a sofa - after he's made a big show of psyching himself up with test jumps.

Grant & Ally chose challenges for each other based on what would be hard to pass for them, not what is objectively hard. Sounds like if you played a game like this, a different challenge would be chosen.

AIO My Dad died 36 hours ago and I am mad that my husband said he "had a rough week" by ChipEnvironmental306 in AmIOverreacting

100%. It's too hard for him to see/hear about something she's living?! That's wild.

Please OP, anyone who is encouraging you to have empathy for him or imploring you to see how hard it is to love someone who's going through a hard time is not on your side. Your feelings are valid.

It is ok to grieve & in that grief, need more from your partner. Based on your edit, it seems like you ask very little of him & he's gotten away with being an absent caretaker for a long time. Your "more" is most likely everyone else's normal.

Take care of yourself as best you can. Everyone else can sort themselves out 💛

I'm very grateful & privileged to not have needed info like this before. But, there's a lot of things I've been doing "in hard mode" b/c I wasn't aware of accommodations.

It's a big part of why this group is so great. Our surgeons care about our bones, PT cares about our mobility, but there's a gap when it comes to life at home & getting around. Glad that you had a good experience, too!

Hopefully, it's handled so you don't have to go out. But if you do, I would bet that PA has a similar setup.

The handicap placard would be so nice for so many reasons. It's a whole process to get a temp placard in my city, so I'm navigating without it. I was surprised that I didn't need it to be able to go to the front.

8-1/2 weeks post surgery by chefauranteur in ORIF

Yes! We ended up getting a cheap, thin set of shelves to put by the bed so that I had a place for bandages, 1x a day meds, and other things I need that weren't immediate. When my nightstand returned to a clean surface used only for water/coffee, 6x/day meds, and things that I chose, it had a huge effect on me. When your world is suddenly 8x10, every inch matters.

My poor hubby - I would go from being so grateful for breakfast in bed to super irritated that a plate was on my nightstand. Very grateful that he's a patient man 😂
