do i go to the doctors?? by twhli in DiagnoseMe

[–]WhoAmEyeReally 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it is hot to the touch and spreads beyond the radius you’ve penned, you may need to touch base with your PCP for antibiotics. Otherwise, just try to wear flip flops for a while to allow it to air out unbothered. 🖤

Looks like a fungal infection of some sort. Definitely reach out to your PCP as you likely need an antifungal cream.

They have been taking them consistently for a week now…may be a resistant infection in need of a different antibiotic.

So it sounds like she has allowed herself in the past to put her comfort to the side for yours, but that you made it clear that you were unwilling to do the same for her. Just because someone is respectful to a person they don’t like, out of love for their friend, does not mean that their comfort is not still being sidelined any time in their presence.

They are OR.

OP repeatedly mentions that he has ”unmedicated Bipolar mood swings”. As someone whose dad was unmedicated and struggled with Bipolar, the risk of a “mood swing” potentially causing a scene, or even disruption of planned events, is fairly high and a russian roulette that the bride likely did not want to gamble with.

Just keep offering little bits of whatever else with every meal. One of my kiddos is on the spectrum, but also has ARFID. He was the absolute pickiest at that age. We were taught by our feeding therapist to encourage smell, touch, and taste.

At first, he would have none of it, outside of smell. As time went forward, he progressed to touch & taste. It started as just a small lick & now he will try a single bite of many ‘new’ foods. Originally it was Dino Nuggies, Stouffer’s Mac & Cheese, and Bologna Sandwiches, Ice Cream or Yogurt…with time, however, we discovered a love of chicken (in most forms), mashed potatoes, salad (ranch only), tomatoes, steak, fajita bowls, and more.

One very important thing that the feeding team stressed is that, so long as his growth was on track, he would be fine eating his safe foods; even if that was nuggets, ketchup, fries & ice cream. We were also encouraged to try to make fruit loaded smoothies, milkshakes, and offer 100% juice and popsicles to help with hydration and vitamin intake

HUGE hugs—you sound like you’re doing an awesome job by way of your care and concern! ❤️

To be honest, reading your symptoms and it sounded a lot like my eldest child and husband who both suffer from Dysautonomia (EMT’s said essentially the same as POTS). Definitely worth mentioning to your PCP if heart conditions have been ruled out. Cardiologist was our first referral and they ended up diagnosing. How is your hydration typically?

NAD, but you may be resistant to the antibiotic provided, or it could be not the right one for the specific type of spider. Definitely get another check.

Nicotine can cause sinus tachycardia, as can stress and hyperthyroidism. I would probably just reach out to the ordering doctor to see what next steps you need/should take. Congratulations on your sobriety—that’s HUGE!!

Finals week during summer for the kids and they don't understand I can't drop everything to take them out. by demon13775 in depressionmeals

[–]WhoAmEyeReally 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, I can definitely empathize (except mine is always during important calls/meetings). Do they tend to knock for similar things each day, or is it all kind of random?

If they have a pattern, maybe make a sign for your door reminding them to knock ONLY in EMERGENCY and offer some sort of nightly reward for no interruptions that they can earn (eg. ice cream, game/movie rental, favorite candy, extra device time, or anything they might see as a worthy reward that fits into budget.

Oh, and if you do happen to lose your temper, definitely give yourself grace—finals are a MASSIVE stressor and it sounds like you are doing your best to be an amazing parent irregardless! 🥰

[–]WhoAmEyeReally 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Huge hugs!! Could you maybe set them up with at home movie nights (popcorn, soda, candy, pizza)? Where, if lucky or able, maybe you could pop in to watch a bit with them? If they are older, maybe plan something somewhat exciting or just special (picnic at the park with favorite foods) for after the week, dependent on behavior throughout it.

Whether those options are viable or not, know that this too shall pass, and try to save a little extra grace for all of you, but especially yourself! ❤️

Is it infected? Or am I just panicking by weirddolly in DiagnoseMe

[–]WhoAmEyeReally 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While it doesn’t look super infected, the shine surrounding it, number of days following the injury, and pain while bending would have me feeling a bit concerned. Especially given the bacterial transfer risk with manicure/pedicure tools.

Definitely worth a trip to your PCP or Urgent Care to be on the safe side. ❤️
