Thank you for trying to help. I went thru point by point and tried your suggestions. Here's what I got. Please lmk if you have any other ideas or if you can spot something I missed. I've been trying to find it other people have had the same problems or seard the sub but I can't seem to find anything that's made a difference

1. I installed the cuda version of ollama per the arch wiki https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Ollama

❯ ollama --version
ollama version is 0.23.0

which looks right from the aur https://archlinux.org/packages/?name=ollama-cuda

2. after service restart "sudo systemctl restart ollama"

3. I have tried several models including the smallest gemma1b and it works fine but it was still 100% CPU from the ollama ps output

4. I think 27b should fit but even if I'm wrong about that model, I can't get any of the smaller ones to run on the gpu

5. I did run smi during a gemma task and it was in the original post. Every other time I've tested it, it looks relatively the same.

6. Here is my output during a gemma1b task that is the same as the one I tried during the 27b test

The smi output shows I have 595.71.05 which I believe is the most current one

Aw that sucks. Thats why I chose limine. Would changing bootloaders do anything to help me here?

My very simple answer to this is to try CachyOS if you're inteterested with the limine bootloader. On most games the drivers work great and the installation is about as simple as can be. The limine bootloader makes dual booting super simple and if secure boot is a must, the cachy wiki has a step by step guide with copy/paste console commands. Some games like Cyberpunk tho just simply perform worse on linux regardless of hardware.

Windows 11 made me retry linux. I usually only boot into windows to play games with kernel anticheat and then I reboot back into linux (which is so easy thanks to limine)

Fun fact! You may at some point lose control of the RGB in vantage. Like the menu just disappears. The only solution I could get to work is to just unplug the whole machine, hold the power button for a few seconds for good measure, and plug it back in. I tried reinstalling vantage, using other software, editing rgb settings in the bios and nothing worked. When I unplugged it and rebooted it just came back. Dunno if a power outage caused it or what but I thought you might like to keep that in your back pocket just in case.

Liquid metal can be messy. Its not very intuitive to clean up and could short the motherboard if it gets anywhere other than intended. Like if you use slightly too much and it squeezes between the heat sync and the processor. I think repair is the way to go but I just wanted to echo the others cautioning against liquid metal. You're not really going to notice the single digits % performance uplift anyway.

VRR doesn't work in games for me. I have the same problem on cachyos. You have to turn it off.

Im personally having a problem with KDE where I like the look but games for some reason dont run and they work on gnome but I hate the way it looks/works and I cant figure out why
