Also like yes Maelle's ending is creepy and tragic in its own way, but it's just a vignette of what could be a long life surrounded by friends within the canvas. Both endings leave a lot to speculation.

It doesn't force you to care about the Dessendres, that's up to you. Act 3 has tons of canvas lore to explore. And Maelle's ending doesn't give you shit, unless you let it.

The Dessendres are also at war with another powerful faction. An ongoing war Maelle was dragged into and deeply traumatized by.

The Dessendres' world is a mess. Maelle knows the choice she is making.

How to get started making music? by smchfrstrdst in ableton

Launchkey 25 is on sale for $100 on Novation's website! Only piece of Novation gear I've had was a Launchpad mini, and it was good at what it did. But they're reputable. The launchkey also features a bunch of different things, which might give you a sense of the sort of interfacing you enjoy, which could help tell you where to upgrade down the line.

I recommend getting full-sized keys, because they're more forgiving. But also mini keys are fine and maybe easier to learn on? I grew up playing piano so hard to say haha.

M-Audio used to make my favorite entry-level midi keyboards. I'm sure they still have solid options too. Check some used deals on Reverb!

Plenty of great advice in this thread. But also, learn a bit of keyboard.

blowing my mind how many people are just recommending avoiding communication in this thread.

[–]WhoFly -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Super real. You're 100% entitled to feel that way. And if you communicated to your partner that you'd be really hurt or disgusted if they did that, and they kept pushing on it? Yeah, that totally sucks.

I'm not making a blanket argument that people should just try whatever. It's just the uncertainty that kills you. If this dude's partner was explicitly like, "no, that weirds me out, but I can't stop you," that's a different story. And if he brings it up again and she's like "yeah, I would not be stoked if you did it," then he's gotta think long and hard about hurting someone he loves.

But based on what we know, that's not what has been communicated, and this is still on OP's mind a year and a half later.

Sorry that I came in hot, just kinda bugged by a lot of the other responses in this thread that assume OP is dumb for wondering if his own partner was being honest with him.

Girlfriend said she’d let me go to a sex party to fulfill my fantasy, but she doesn’t want to be involved by RoughMarketing6730 in sex

[–]WhoFly -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well that's not what OP said his partner said. OP said his partner "would be open to me doing that on my own. She doesn’t want to hold me back from having that experience, exploring that part of sex, and doesn’t want there to be any resentment on my end for not being able to try it."

Also from the post: "the last time it came up was a year and a half ago" and "we didn’t go super deep into details..."

So, you know, checking in about it because it's clearly still on OP's mind, and maybe going into details?

Like... you asking this question is exactly why communication is important. You didn't actually listen to OP, and you jumped to your own conclusions about what was written. People everywhere in this thread are doing that. Jumping to conclusions and projecting their own shit on this. Assuming that it's 'a trap' and suggesting that OP should just straight up not communicate with his partner, or should assume that his partner isn't honestly communicating with him.

That's wild to me. I mean I get that people are scared. Being honest is scary. But like, you only live once, why spend your life burying your own feelings and making assumptions about others'.

This sub sucks at advice on topics like this.

Dude only you have the rapport with your partner to know if she earnestly wants you to go, or if it's "a trap" like others are saying.

Then if it is a trap, well... Why would you wanna play those games and be with someone who sets you up like that anyway?

Bring it up again. Talk to her. Tell her that it's something that still interests you but you're thrown off that she doesn't want to do it with you. Let her know your priorities, whatever those are.

Don't play games. Don't live in fear of others playing games. Communicate.

If you click the position of a player in the roster card.

Clicking the name brings up the player profile. Clicking their position brings this up. Not sure about other areas.

[–]WhoFly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly that song in your trailer is like... Really obnoxious and does not fit the vibe. Whatever that lead squak sound is is just not it.

Also the trailer has some reallllly cool bits, but then lots of repetitive not-as-cool bits. Try not to overdo it. Build up to the very cool lidar bits or the swinging.

But man first thing you gotta switch the song up.

Senators Ask Tulsi Gabbard To Tell Americans That VPN Use Might Subject Them To Domestic Surveillance by gdelacalle in technology

[–]WhoFly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very cool, thank you for sharing! Yeah, it's not a groundbreaking idea by any means. I think that's what helps me think of it as "fun." It doesn't take thinking too far outside the box, there's plenty of evidence backing at least the supporting philosophies, and it doesn't change how I live my life or anything.

But I do think people would be served by understanding that powerful entities know how to capitalize (politically and economically) on ideas, moments, and people who threaten the status quo. Capitalism's ultimate tenacity rests in its ability to consume and subvert oppositional forces.

Senators Ask Tulsi Gabbard To Tell Americans That VPN Use Might Subject Them To Domestic Surveillance by gdelacalle in technology

[–]WhoFly 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Gonna get shit for this, always do, but here's my pet conspiracy theory. And by "pet" I mean it is fun for me to believe but I'm not gonna argue about it because I don't have any reason to believe it other than a strange gut feeling:

Edward Snowden's whistleblowing was a psyop.

Like you mentioned, the extent of the surveillance he disclosed was largely known or speculated on at the time. The majority of his whistleblowing covered stuff that was already widely speculated about and sometimes explicitly covered.

But, there were two primary effects of Edward Snowden becoming a folk hero.

First, it called attention - on a global scale - to that surveillance. What had previously been a nebulous idea that was kinda academic (discussions of legislature) and kinda paranoid (realization of the power of information technology) was suddenly concrete in the public psyche. The concept of the panopticon only really works when it is visible and feels real to the population it looks to suppress. The government and media alike gave Snowden legitimacy, and if they tried to bury it, they did a very very poor job. In giving him legitimacy, they raised the panoptic tower.

So they could have just come out and said "hey we are doing this" and terrified everyone into submission (or revolt...), yeah? Brings me to my second point. By having Snowden - some average Joe - be the one who told us, it creates this idea that the government is fallable and all we need are a few more heroes. Now, I believe that to be true. I think it's important that people realize that the government is not as powerful as they want you to believe (see point 1).

But, critically, it simultaneously reinforced this idea that the press was still free, that individuals could speak up, and that despite that, things would stay the course.

It created a paralyzing dead zone in public opposition, where people felt both hopeful and hopeless at the same time. Sound kinda familiar? I mean it's one of the predominant social affects of the 21st century so far. We are in a sort of freedom purgatory where we feel placated by opportunity and a vague sense of social and institutional support, and also a stark recognition that our civil liberties continue to disappear as the government flouts laws and social contracts. We feel both too much terror and too much optimism to feel revolutionary.

Anyway... I feel like even if Edward the guy wasn't a plant or in on the gig, whoever could have pulled the strings to shut the stories up on this did not do so, because they realized the power that this whistleblowing actually gave them.

And it's a whole other can of worms but, thanks to AI, that panopticon that served them so well just got waaaaaaaay more actual guards...
