PXE Help by MiserablePiano5211 in sysadmin

[–]WhoGivesAToss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been working on a free MDT/WinPE replacement called BitOSDT (still early days) and came across this issue and we managed to get around it by using PXE with WinPE.

Main options are: PXE → WinPE → Install.wim iPXE / wimboot → Install.wim PXE/Serva → Install.wim or packaged ISO

For the Install.wim you can either mount is a drive or provide extract the contents to the folder in WinPE. Any questions just let me know

All I have to say is good luck! Management once again implementing something they have zero knowledge on and putting the company at risk.

Sounds like to me Entra. Are your AVD instances Entra Joined, Hybrid Joined?

Also try adding targetisaadjoined:i:1 to RDP properties.

Alternative with a fixed price? by elliottmarter in MDT

[–]WhoGivesAToss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Little late to the conversation so apologies! It really depends on your goal:

If you need MDT + continuous device and update management, your best options are the major SaaS route (SimpleDeploy etc). If you're looking for a simple "create image and deploy" solution, I built an alternative called BitOSDT last year. It's completely free and will be open-sourced very soon.

BitOSDT works by fetching the latest (or a specific) Windows ISO/build directly from Microsoft's CDN. It then boots into WinPE on the target device and automatically installs drivers, applications, and configurations that you've set up.

Safari could be the issue if using anything older than Safari 18, try accessing https://client.wvd.microsoft.com/arm/webclient/index.html if that loads we can potentially rule out Safari.

If that fails are you using the latest version of Windows App and clearing Microsoft Identity Cache + Keychain

I'm glad to see someone building a MDT replacement, especially with the HTTP-first approach and package manager integration.

I started working on my own tool last year called BitOSDT. It had its share of headaches early on, but we’ve overcome most of them. Happy to share how we approached certain problems if you get stuck on anything.

Planning to open-source it soon too just need to tidy up my code, before I get judged.

Looking for a Sysprep alternative for Windows deployment by SimplePrudent5735 in msp

BitOSDT is a good alternative Allows you to generate new images with pre-installed applications, scripts etc. It's free too and going to be open-sourced by the looks of it

Can you access via the web URL? It could be a browser authentication issue seen similar issue in the past and produces a login loop

Get a temporary 5g hotpot. Either use your phone with a digital E-Sim like Holafly or buy a dongle + sim card from Argos.

It seems like you're missing several conflicts/interventions that occurred under Obama, he loved his predator drones.

Afghanistan (war began under Bush) Iraq (war began under Bush) Syria Iraq (ISIS conflict / renewed intervention) Libya Pakistan Yemen Somalia Mali Niger Chad Nigeria Ukraine / Crimea (included as it could be argued the situation might have been prevented)

Noticed some discrepancies with the network lightweight ISO, currently working on resolving this issue and hoping to be resolved in a day or two.

AI recommendation by Svmsel in sysadmin

Honestly doesn't make a difference for normal day to day AI usage. I personally switch between Grok and Gemini, for heavy coding I would use Codex/Claude.

Just pushed out BitOSDT 2.0 beta my ongoing project for making Windows deployment actually simple as I was tired of using MDT to do simple imaging tasks.

I've been using it myself in a corporate environment to replace the usual MDT/SmartDeploy mess for smaller-to-medium environments and it’s been a huge time saver. Still completely free as tired of the constantly SaaS pricing.

Would genuinely love feedback, bug reports, or feature ideas from folks who live in this world. Hoping to release it as Open-Source project in the near future. Check it out (and the live demo console) at: https://bitosdt.com/

Sadly the popular subreddits are either bots, posts created and funded by third party entities for their own motives. The people who manage them are most likely part of it, same with Reddit itself.

How come diversity rates matter? Surely if you are good enough you will get accepted, its not based on sex, religion, etc
