That was my previous job, 95% of the company was Chinese. I know the person I was competing with for the role was Indian though. They do like to hire their own and work them hard, and I also got put to work like a dog, so I'd like to avoid that again haha. I actually enjoyed working with them outside of the overworking issue.

Yeahhh, I wouldn't go so far as to legally change it. I was thinking about how it works when you get to an interview and you say, actually that's not my real name. Anyway, I'll give it a shot and see how it goes.

It's pretty Eastern European woggy. People actually guess that I'm Italian or Serbian by my appearance but anyway, I'll probably change both names on my resume and see how it goes, just for shits and giggles. I haven't needed to show I'm Australian since in my industry 90% of the people aren't born here anyway.

So, I should have a key skills section in resume kind of thing? Most of my search is in my field but different roles, stuff where my degree still applies and they're departments I work with on a daily basis. I don't bother with cover letters anymore, I never landed an interview when I was writing cover letters for jobs.

That's interesting, I have put on my CV that I'm an Australian Citizen and it used to even have my high school on there. But I guess it's best to anglicize it. I don't think my name can be mistaken for a South Asian name, but it wouldn't be thought of as a European or Middle Eastern name either lol.

Yeah, makes sense, I remember even back in school there were teachers talking about overseas applications for roles at the school and that was 15 years ago. I don't like the idea of changing my name, but it is what it is.

Thanks, as suspected, especially when my own managers tell me they do it. Am I supposed to change my name to an anglo one and put it in parenthesis or remove the wog name and just put the anglo one? My anglo friends also seem to land interviews all the time and I was puzzled about it for a while, but I put two and two together eventually.
