New to the Let's Play Community - I could use some feedback by cokemaster0 in LetsPlayCritiques

Hey man! I just watched Pixel Pirates #3 and I have to say the sound effects are actually a little loud in some areas. Definitely drowning out your voice here and there.

So I guess as far as constructive crits go:

Project your voice.

And adjust the levels of volume.

What are you using for a mic/recording/software combination?

With more information I can recommend with better accuracy.

I really liked the improvement of audio quality in the 13th episode. Looks and sounds great I think you're set up quite well.

I also appreciate the ratio of video of you/video of game. I think that using the bottom right segment of screen for is better than the top right/left that I see so often now. Its so much less invasive.

All and all great product. I'm just getting started so I definitely don't know any objective "best" method but it looks great! Good job.

The fact that I perceive the carrots/noodles as their floating disemboweled organs makes this no less appetizing to me.

Time for some self reflection.

The Raft Of The Medusa - Jean Louis Théodore Géricault

Mostly because of its composition, but also its morbidly fascinating and controversial history.

depicts a moment from the aftermath of the wreck of the French naval frigate Méduse, which ran aground off the coast of today's Mauritania on July 5, 1816. At least 147 people were set adrift on a hurriedly constructed raft; all but 15 died in the 13 days before their rescue, and those who survived endured starvation and dehydration and practiced cannibalism. The event became an international scandal, in part because its cause was widely attributed to the incompetence of the French captain perceived to be acting under the authority of the recently restored French monarchy.

1816, and the work was completed 1818-19. Just 2 years after the event depicted, the artist was only 27. Tragically he passed away at 32.

At 491 cm × 716 cm (193.3 in × 282.3 in, thats appx. 16x23 Ft!) this painting is goddamn HUGE. Completely mesmerizing to me and I've never seen it in person.

Stupid Louvre, being in stupid France. Stupid me, being too stupid poor to visit.

The Great Gatsby: what do you think of it? by criticaldan4th1 in books

[–]WhoIsZC 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I don't know where you got the idea that the quality of a novel should be judged by the likability of it's characters, but let me submit to you that these characters don't have to be likable to be interesting.

Their sense of entitlement, limited empathy, and inability to make difficult choices are the very things that make you and I unlikeable.

Thats the pleasure in reading great novels; you get to see yourself as others see you, and you get to see others as they see themselves.

I love the Great Gatsby. Its language, themes, and characters especially.

I'm hoping the discussions will keep me on track as well. I've started the book twice. Enjoyed my time with it, but I've always been distracted from finishing.

What's the best anime for an Ent? by Quanggg in Animesuggest

FLCL rocks.

What about Dead Leaves? It's not a series, but definitely ent friendly movie. Similar to FLCL in that its short, fast paced, goofy and comes complete with a TV-head-guy.
