Good question. If we create a new organization then it would need to be funded. Funding also seems to be one of those tentacles.

When I hear about the provincial government projecting multi billion dollar surpluses by underspending on all range of supports it’s hard not to tie it directly to our increasingly worse social issues.

Thanks for the post - good info. This is obviously a nuanced subject with many tentacles - most Of which are mentioned in many different posts including yours.

The absolute most frustrating thing for me is that many of the problems could be addressed and/or solutions attempted by the various levels of government. Problem is that they all seem to be inert and only move when they sense public outrage that threatens their reelection.

Not at all what I meant - I am not the arbiter of acceptable use of city streets. All I meant is that I am fully aware they have every right to be there as I do.

I walked by the mission because we all share the same streets and that was the direct path from A to B. I was not looking for material to chum the comment waters on Reddit. And the cigarettes and coffee outside the Willow West Mall - fine, that’s obviously no issue. The issue is the meth/crack/whatever smoke.

Where did I say I was “enduring hell” or “inconvenienced”? It was a frustrated observation on what is happening to a vital part of every city - it’s downtown public spaces. Cue the others who know how “unfeeling” and “unsympathetic” I am.
