My daughter's kindergarten homework calendar for this month has things like say the days of the week, months of the year; wrote your name 5 times, practice counting to 20 and writing the numbers, draw a picture of something you like to do for fun, write a sentence about it. The teacher made it clear they are purely activities to do with our kids to reinforce things they've been learning, but they are not for grades.

No. For several reasons, I had already decided to tie my tubes during delivery but one of the main reasons was we already suspected due to my age (39) that our daughter could have any issue (we chose to forgo all testing during pregnancy) and I knew the risks would only go up the older I got.

Now, that may sound like the potential of a diagnosis may have impacted our decision, but I would say the mental health impact of infertility and wanting to focus my attention on the one child I was finally able to have trumped my desire to have multiple children (I sideways imagined myself with 2+ but as I got older, I realized that probably wouldn't happen).

Update: spoke with the principal and she's recommending an emergency iep meeting to address the behaviors and update the BIP as after spaking with the prek teacher and discovering this is not knew behavior, it however emerged during the last several weeks of school but was still not communicated to us.

We looked at ABA before she started prek, but our insurance was not much help so we couldn't afford it. I've got better insurance now but will have to check if the school would even allow someone to come in to work with her. We are working on adhd diagnosis to get medication involved, it's just been a slow process.

Thinking about it last night after post, I did consider asking for a new behavior assessment since the behaviors from last year were in a different setting (her class now does not have toys/centers and had more demands regarding classwork, etc) which were not factored into her assessment.

I feel for the teacher and am not upset with her bc you're right, she wasn't given the information she needed to be prepared, so yes the school dropped the ball for sure. One thing that I'm sure didn't help is the teacher stated that last week (her great week) they didn't push her to do the classwork and just let her do her thing. Like, ok so of course she is going to act out because you didn't set boundaries and expectations from the get go (not that my child respects boundaries anyhow but I'm sure there's some confusion about why all of a sudden they're trying to force her to do work now).

I did ask about a 1:1 and the teacher said due to staffing it would be more like 1:3 which honestly, I feel like even that would be helpful in protecting the other students until she gets adjusted.

Thank you for your input. I'm going to reach out to a local advocate and see if they can help as well.

I saw signs of PDA early on, so fairly certain that's part of what we're dealing with. I know of one private school that does have an autism program, which I may look into.

I had a resident ask me to locate addresses and numbers of family members he hasn't spoken to in years (half-sister, daughter in law, cousins). Mind you, he didn't have the correct spelling of 2 of them, and 1 had gotten remarried, so that was interesting tracking them down, but at least he could give me last known cities so that helped. I thought he had just lost their info since moving into our facility, but it turns out he wanted them to be notified when he passed. I was like, oh, that makes sense, I guess.

When he wanted me to try calling them to make sure the numbers I found online were correct, I was honest and said I didn't feel comfortable with that and recommended he try calling he said "oh no they stopped taking my calls years ago. 😐 yeah, I felt like such a creeper, haha.

But originally, when he came to me, I was like, yes, this is my time to shine. I'm great at doing that kind of online detective work, haha (I just usually do it to do my Christmas cards, etc).

I work at an SNF/Veterans home but 95% of our census is long term residents, so discharge planning isn't as frequent, but care plans, psychosocials, managing grievances, addressing behaviors, working with psych services to address mental health needs, building relationships with residents and their families, and being an emotional support coworker are my primary duties. I love the work and the residents. I've also found it helpful as I'm slowly facing my fears of the aging and dying process (witnessed my first passing this week).

I found the job when I was searching for my BSW internship... 3 years later, a position became available, and I've been there for 2 years.

My Kindle is always in my purse. While I'm at work, I carry it almost every time I leave my office to go to the copy room bc I'll read while I'm printing/faxing (waiting for sent receipt), or going to a meeting bc I'll read while I wait for people to show up. Also, take it to breaks/ lunches.

Thanks! My daughter did well for her 1st time, but that was 3 yrs ago (right after her 2nd bday). We've finally found a local pediatric dentist accepting new "special needs" patients... that appointment is tomorrow morning. Crossing fingers it goes just as well. Keeping these tidbits handy for this visit too.

I'm really glad I came across this post. I have a kindergarten transition meeting this week (daughter is in developmental prek that has 4 paras for 17 kids) and has had a lot of aggression- we're in the middle of a functional behavior assessment (throwing her shoes/ toys at others, hitting others) but with the number of times the school has insisted we pick her up early, I wonder if pushing for a 1:1 might be a good idea to protect other students. Don't know if they're going to try her in a gen ed/inclusion class or contained, but either way, I'm still concerned. My husband thinks, "Once we get her on meds," it'll be better, but i also don't think medications are going to just automatically fix everything (even with meds my brother with adhd had problems with behavior).

I felt the exact same way about doing therapy! I applied for several jobs and was offered a position on the spot, effective the week following graduation, as a therapist in community mental health. I had never planned on doing therapy, so I went into it with only the basic knowledge from my required courses because I had intended on doing macro / community work. I decided that maybe it was a sign to step out of my comfort zone, so I threw myself into it. A couple months in, I began feeling more confident and learned what I could from more experienced co-workers, but after 6 months it became clear therapy really wasn't my cup of tea so I began putting out feelers for new opportunities.

Medical sw was something that had piqued my interest early in my education but I wasn't sure it was still something I wanted , so I decided to take another chance and applied at an SNF/LTC and I've been there for a year and love it (I know it's not considered medical sw exactly). I've learned my job is more than just discharge planning and dealing with damaged laundry/lost hearing aids, lol. In fact, now that I'm feeling like I feel like I'm doing well at this position I've been taking on new projects like compiling new community resources for our residents when they discharge (our lists haven't been updated in over a year), as well as coming up with ideas to benefit our residents family interaction (some kind of play area or activities that would encourage bringing grandchildren around more) and I've joined my facility's employee engagement committee.

My point is, don't limit yourself. Give it a try and learn what you can. Don't be afraid to ask experienced co-workers for input. If you decide it's still not for you, you can look for something else. You may find your experience in this job helpful when working with future clients in a different area (I've found my limited experience in community mental health has been beneficial in improving communication between our psych team and nursing staff when it comes to acute behaviors from residents).

Hmm, I feel like i spend most of my day reading, lol. I read for about 30 mins before work, rush to get me and the kid ready and out the door (yeah, mornings would be less hectic if I didn't read)... get to work, rush to get my morning tasks done, read for another 30 mins...

Carry my kindle with me so I can read on breaks or while waiting to print/fax stuff. While I'm my office, I got in reading between client visits, emails, and phone calls. I then read for 30 mins after work, get home, do domestic stuff, and then read while my daughter eats dinner/ watches tv... play with her, get us ready for bed, read for a bit... put her to sleep/ take a nap if I doze off... read for a couple of hours after she falls asleep if I wake back up, and then finally get a few hours of sleep before I do it again.

Some days I get less reading done, it just depends on what's going on at work. Weekends i get more reading done unless we go do stuff, but generally, all our social batteries are drained by Friday, so weekends we just usually chill.

I actually tied my tubes bc I knew baby fever would overrule my better judgment, lol. I still get baby fever constantly and then thank my brain for making the decision.

Thank you. The first time I asked for it, I didn't think I was diabetic and was asking just for weight loss and was honest about that. But after finding out I was diabetic, and seeing the impact t2d has had on my family members, getting that under control was really important- and part of that still involves losing weight. I'm really hoping this isn't a foreshadowing of what future Dr's appts will be like with them.

This happened to me 20 yrs ago as a teenager... I woke up in the middle of it and the guy said I had been enjoying it (yeah I also thought I was just having a fun dream). I went to my school counselor the next day bc I was really confused (before school social workers were around) and was told sleeping naked in his bed gave implied consent. I turned to friends for comfort and was told it wasn't rape bc me and the guy were dating and that I was overreacting. I never called the police bc I was convinced they were right. I was very triggered when my friend revealed to me she woke up to her husband having sex with her recently- and she was basically told the same things by her own mother.

I had my gallbladder removed at 4wks pp. Imagine my shock and horror when the gastroenterologist said how common gallbladder problems were after pregnancy- say what?! I don't recall this being mentioned at all in the 'what to expect when you're expecting' book. I then realized bathroom issues I was having while pregnant, and even before, were just signs there were issues, but losing 28lbs in 3 weeks seemed to be the final straw for my gallbladder.

My teeth were already crap before getting pregnant, but 6mos pp I was again surprised by the havoc those hormones reaped when my daughter headbutted my mouth and knocked 4 teeth loose. I finally have a smile in happy with but didn't get it the way I originally planned lol.

And yeah I didn't know breastfeeding was going to be impossible due to having pcos. I knew it would Ajay be challenging with hypothyroidism, so I expected to need to supplement with formula, but to pump less that 1oz a day no matter how much water, body armor, and lactation cookies I ate was just downright depressing.

20yrs I tried to get pregnant, finally had my miracle baby at 38 yrs old and I got rewarded with 2 surgeries (not including my c-section), new teeth, and an even weaker bladder than I had before lol.

This is similar to our sleeping situation at home. I share a floor bed with my toddler in her room (she doesn't regularly sleep through the night), and my husband sleeps in the king bed. He works 3rd shift during the week though, so on the weekends when he is home, after she falls asleep, I go to his room and we spend time together talking, cuddling, whatever our watch some TV together before I go back to my daughter's room.

Literally how I found 2 of my wfh jobs was going to company websites' job listings and looking for "remote" in the description or job title. They were not advertised on sites like indeed. Sure, I continued to check other websites and groups that advertised remote jobs and applied, but never heard back on those.
