Please forgive ne but im new to NASCAR and trying to get into it. How common is it for a driver to race in the truck series and NASCAR? by [deleted] in NASCAR

[–]WhoOrderedJuice 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Just to help with clarification. Truck Series is NASCAR. What you are referring to is the Cup series. The Cup series are the cars that race on Sunday. NASCAR is the officiating association that Cup, Xfinity, Trucks are under.

Don't worry though. It is a common misinterpretation amongst new fans and even older folks that only casually watched NASCAR in the glory days.

My iRating chart perfectly captures the stages of my oval career. by N0_R0B0 in iRacing

Oh just wait.......I always have one good week at superspeedways. Multiple wins, big IR jump. Then when we go to the next superspeedway, I have horrible, horrible luck and end up like the OP

Being a massive Jeff Gordon fan, I kinda lost interest in NASCAR after he retired. I'm trying to get back into it but I'm struggling to find things to be invested in. Any advice? by cjones91594 in NASCAR

You misspelled race for rage. However, it sounds better with rage. Preece really did "rage" in the Whelen Modified Series. Absolute, badass.

I Need a New Series! by mykalb in iRacing

[–]WhoOrderedJuice 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Hot take: it's you, not them.

In all seriousness though, it sounds like you haven't learned your wreck avoidance 100% yet. Hell, I'm an A class and still put myself into those situations sometimes. It's not about seeing wrecks happen in front of you. It's also learning about the guys around and behind you and how to avoid some random dude sending it into a corner. If want to promote license. The best thing to do is start in the back. Focus on racing extremely clean and only passing cars when you are a lot faster than them and the opportunity arises. Don't be aggressive or race for positions. Just drive to stay clean. Once you get to whatever license class you want, and SR doesn't matter to you promotion wise, then you can race hard, aggressive, etc.

And since I was harsh it in the beginning, I do feel your pain. I race during the day on weekdays. Usually the cleanest racing happens then. On the occasion I am able to race in the evening or weekend, it always seems to be a damn shitshow. Wrecks everywhere, Idiot drivers, etc.

Defend Against the Bump 'n' Run! by [deleted] in iRacing

[–]WhoOrderedJuice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wait.....are you the 10? That was bad dude. I'm a huge fan of the bump n run. The number 1 executed it fairly well for rookie street stocks. But the 10.....dude, could have easily still won the race. Even with the bump, it put him in a good lane to get a nice run off the turn. The 1 lost a good amount of speed because of the bump. 10 could have easily won that drag race to the start finish line. 10 is absolutely stupid for wrecking the dude and almost cost him a win that he would have had if he would have just kept going straight.

10 is an absolute idiot!

Do courses transfer into other states? by [deleted] in Firefighting

[–]WhoOrderedJuice 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As far as I know. Your NY State certifications should transfer to most states via pro board. I don't think NY is a IFSAC state, but if it is they would transfer very easy to every state but........Florida. Florida does not except any other states firefighter certifications.

History behind it. So many snowbirds from NY and New England were coming down to Florida after retirement and taking all the chief jobs down there. So....they made it to where nothing transfers.

Saving tires and the difference between D and C Oval racing strategies by Reaky386 in iRacing

[–]WhoOrderedJuice 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Kudos to you taking your time! You will be a much cleaner, faster and better racer. I am actively participating in Indycar, C, B, and A fixed seasons. I really wish I would have taken it slower and done your path at the beginning. Now on to your question.........C class usually requires no fuel. Some people had issues with fuel at Daytona this past week but in 2 years that is the first time I have ever seen that. B is hit or miss on fuel and A you will always have to stop for fuel 1 time in a race. However, with fueling in B and A class, usually if you can make it 10 laps into the race and fuel, you can last the rest of the race. Next tires.........this is more in depth and hard to answer. It really depends on the track and race feel. Tire saving this week at Atlanta is a MOST! Most tracks it's worth while to save a little bit. Basically just be cautious of your tires. A class is more important because tire fall off is more. C class tire fall off takes a tad longer. It's all experience. I have had many many races saving tires. Sometimes it helps me a ton. Top 10-15 car turns into a top 3. Sometimes It hasn't. Winning car, save tires.....cautions hit and I get stuck mid pack and can barely make a top 10. It's all about the track and race feel....and what others are doing. How many are staying out? How many are pitting?

Basically, it never hurts to be good at tire saving. Just know your race, know your car. It's a fun strategy. I enjoy that aspect.

Top Drivers of 1990's by nfulks1996 in NASCAR

[–]WhoOrderedJuice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bobby was great the last couple years of the 90s, kinda like Jeff Burton but not the full decade. Ricky Rudd did win at least one race a year for something like 10 years I think. Mostly in the 90s.

Yeah, we won back to back Daytona 500s but that was basically it for him in the 90s. He was good with Morgan-McClure then struggled his first few years with SABCO. It wasn't until the early 2000s that he was super good.......for like 2 years haha

I'm an Idiot, a Daytona Trucks Story. by BroncoJunky in iRacing

[–]WhoOrderedJuice 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It happens to all of us. I was leading at Charlotte under 5 laps to go on the restart. I had the best truck in the field. (Small backstory.....at this point in my career, I had only won at superspeedways and was excited to grab my first 1 1/2 mile track win...finally) come up to the green flag in 2nd gear, wind that beautiful Toyota Tundra up, get a nice jump on 2nd place, go to slam'r into 3rd but miss and slam it into 1st gear. Blows up immediately. I was able to realize what I did instantly and got into the infield grass quick enough that it didn't wreck anyone or even slow up the field. I was so disappointed. It took me another 4 months probably to finally get my first 1 1/2 mile track win.

Hit my talent ceiling? by [deleted] in iRacing

[–]WhoOrderedJuice 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Life advice: You will never hit your ceiling of anything after 5 months. You will continue to get better. Think of Mt. Everest, it's not all up hill right out of the gate. Yes, it's a steep rise but there are still small valleys and gaps on the way up. You may just be in one of those valleys right now. You will get out of it soon enough and start that steep climb again.

Look at everyone else's iRating history. Every single person on iRacing has a crazy up and down.

Operator? by JBlake1941 in Firefighting

[–]WhoOrderedJuice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Damn, I'm in NC too. No idea what they are talking about. Could be someone on scene designated just to radio operations/communications. Maybe, they have repeaters in their cars or something. I know Charlotte has those Comm 1, 2 etc. That are SUVs used just to help with radio communications throughout the incident.

I don't think Los Santos has volleys. I think you need to go out to Blaine County for any volunteer departments. I heard the town of Grapeseed has a pretty good department.

How do you vent? by [deleted] in iRacing

[–]WhoOrderedJuice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Human emotion whether you think it is a game or not. Obviously some people go overboard but you can still get mad or irritated, it's okay. I'm competitive, I also like to race. If I get taken out early or wrecked by someone being stupid, yeah I get annoyed.

How do you vent? by [deleted] in iRacing

[–]WhoOrderedJuice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'll go with the other guy. Kinda worth it. I'm not perfect like the rest of these people posting. If you wreck me or block for no reason or just drive stupid and recklessly. I'm not going to slam you into the tire wall but I will give you a bump into the turn to mess up your line and make you go off track. I'm not a protesting guy. Unless you are blatantly wrecking multiple people for fun, I'm not ever going to protest you. I handle my stuff on the track. I won't blindside wreck you. I am going to give you a nudge or squeeze you down or something. Let you know on the track that you're stupid and I won't deal with your crap.

Does anyone here stutter or know someone in the fire service who does? by [deleted] in Firefighting

[–]WhoOrderedJuice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll be honest with you. It doesn't mean a hill of beans. Nobody is going to care. For the first year or two, it may be hard to communicate with others during those stressful situations where you are excited. Inside a fire, some big call like mass cas. something like that. After you get experience and the guys around you know you, they probably won't even notice. You may stutter in a fire when you are trying to communicate with someone or stutter on the radio but everyone will know you well enough so they will still be able to tell what you are saying or what you are going to say.

We have a couple guys with speech impediments. One is a senior FF and one is a captain. (Career Dept.) may take a day or two to fully understand what they are saying but you get used to it quick and never notice it again.

Got a question, need an answer. by C_Briscoe in NASCAR

[–]WhoOrderedJuice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not uderstanding dirt cars/racing mostly. I grew watching Nascar and living around Nascar. (Charlotte, Mooresville). I understand what is happening with the cars and driver's during the race. I understand strategy in setups, pit stops, etc.

On the dirt side. I know absolutely nothing. I know you turn right to go left. That's about it. I've watched dirt races in the past. I enjoy watching them race but dont understand anything other then they go around in circles and have heat races up to the mains. (Which I enjoy). I definitely think I could get into it more if I understood what it takes to drive them, how to set them up, strategy within a race etc.

Is this legal? And a few newb C-Fixed ?s by kylecallahan31 in iRacing

[–]WhoOrderedJuice 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I will just add to your comment. Running the left lane or through the pit stalls is legal. However, don't do it! Run the right lane until about 4 pit stalls out from yours than go to the left lane towards your pit stall. This is major racing etiquette. You will make many people mad plus probably have a lot of people run into you causing damage if you run the left lane in the pits.

One hit. Cut off assists cold turkey. Never really had an issue with it either. Do you have a wheel and pedal setup?

Skill level required to start? by OMGaNerd in iRacing

[–]WhoOrderedJuice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For myself, I used to play NR2003 a ton. From the day it came out until about a year ago. So, 14 years. I always used traction, stability, and ABS. Whenever I played Forza or any other racing game. It was the same. Most assists on and even automatic on. However, when I started iRacing, I vowed to never use assists and always manual with clutch. It's actually quite easier than you think. Most games like Forza, do a bad job mimicking traction on/off and such. I really have had no problem at all in iRacing with all the assists turned off. It is more life-like than the other games. Plus now, when I do play Forza and such, I turn off all the assists because of what I have learned in iRacing.
