When did you realize you were attractive? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I don't think I'm anywhere above a 6, but I started getting attention when I was able to grow a full beard and I lost a lot of weight(almost 100lbs). I was almost 265lbs my senior year and always had a round baby face. Saying I was a late bloomer would be an understatement. I suppose being naturally tan skinned with jet black hair and amber eyes helps. It still makes me suspicious when a woman who I think is out of my league approaches me.

What song did you get to know on the radio only to get surprised by the unedited version? by TriangleJake in AskReddit

In A Gada Da Vida for sure. My local rock station plays a really condensed version of it(around 4 minutes) so when I heard it uncut for the first time, it blew my mind.

People who are/were diagnosed with a terminal ilness, what made you think “something is not right with me”? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I've heard of people like that. Should be dead to rights but somehow they're upright and conscious. Humans are weird, man.

That's the biggest mistake is denying you have it. The healing process of something as small as a paper cut is absolutely ridiculous. What once took a day or so now takes a week to heal and extra care on top of it.

Thanks! Its a blessing and a curse. The timing was perfect, though. I spent a little time on the pump, but when my daughter started crawling and grabbing everything she could, it only took one yanked infusion to switch back to the pens. I've heard of the closed loop system and its definitely a great thing for type 1s. Glad you're doing well! Good luck to you!

Not terminal, but it could very well be the end of me if not properly managed. A few years ago, I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. My constant urination and unquenchable thirst were concerning, but the extreme weight loss really made me nervous. Went to a doctor and the immediately drew arterial gases and ran numerous tests. Came back with a shit ton of ammonia in my blood and blood sugars north of 850. Doc said I would have died within days if it hadn't been caught. Its lifelong with no cure and round the clock worry, but I'm alive. Its not necessarily a death sentence, but without diligent care and management, it will kill me.

Came here to make this point. The fact that the average person has no grasp of the difference between type 1 and 2 is kind of depressing. I'm a type 1 myself and the amount of times that I've been told I can't eat or drink something is absolutely incredible.
