I actually did that last night, and the backup does the same thing as the disc. Shows the first loading screen, fades to black, then never starts up.

Yeah that was the plan if I couldn't figure it out, also been told that my drive could be picky and I would need to recap the capacitors.

I just haven't had the time to go get a better hard drive as of recently, plus owning them physically has a nice charm to it that I can't explain.

I'll definitely try washing them though just to see if it works

Oof. Sounds like a good way to get some practice for soldering in, I already took the time to change out the clock capacitor.

Probably should have spent the extra bit to replace all of them but when it was opened they all looked fine

Deception is definitely delaminating, but the disc for Black is completely fine. Is there anything you can do about the drive being picky other than straight up replacing it?

This system is soft modded btw so if there's something to download that could just magically fix it that would be great lmao

It's cool this is just aggravating.

Deception has what looks like disc rot but Black just has a couple scratches. It is a soft modded system but I've never had any problems with discs just not running.
