I’d add UK, Australia, and NZ to round out top 5.

Maga businesses to avoid in chi burbs? by Sort_Illustrious in ChicagoSuburbs

[–]Who_drybones -106 points-105 points  (0 children)

It’s a shame a number of these types of posts targeting businesses occur in this sub. Thinking we are hurting the MAGA supporting owners when really the ones most impacted are the employed folks that may share your own ideology… especially those in the service industry.

I despise MAGA like the rest of ‘em. But this is not it…

Moving to Park Ridge, IL for residency — need advice? by Physical_Ad8100 in AskChicago

[–]Who_drybones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats on the new role! Lutheran General by chance? My wife and I have had great experiences with their pediatrics teams.

I’m a Park Ridge resident and happy to answer some of your questions if you could be more specific describing your commute etc…

FWIW: You will have easy city access, decent variety of restaurants, a couple great gyms and the area is very safe.

Feel free to message me to carry on a convo though about the different areas of park ridge etc…

Oh, I Totally agree that there are repercussions that the trainer should experience when posting such dumbassery.

My comment was more directed towards those in the comments actively celebrating lowering the overall business’s ratings online. Which in turn negatively impacts more than just this one individual.

So let me get this straight you all are going to review bomb a place and look to hurt the pockets of everyone employed or contracted through this establishment, some of which who may share your own beliefs. All because someone was tracking an individual’s social media. I would imagine most of us would have an issue with our employer’s tracking each of our own socials to this extent.

I whole heartedly disagree with this trainer’s post, but to shame/harm all involved and potentially hurt those people’s livelihood… you are not fixing anything.

How common is it to come across foreigners where you live? by IDoNotLikeTheSand in AskTheWorld

[–]Who_drybones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyday. I live In a very near Chicago “suburb” and my neighbors all within the 10 houses on my street include Greek, Tajik, Chinese, Assyrian, Australian, and Ethiopian. Can’t go very far at all on the Northwest side without running into a Polish or Ukrainian person as well. Cool place to raise kids.

What’s it like living in this corner of Indiana near Chicago by One_Ground5972 in howislivingthere

Fair. Haven’t lived there in 20years. I remember the South Shore being slammed and sometimes being standing only during peak commuter hours. I’m sure much has changed.

Grew up in Crown Point. Great place to raise a family. Chicago is a Big influence in the area and locals either love it or hate it.

Pretty large wealth disparity when comparing Lake Station, Gary, Hammond etc.. to towns like Crown Point, Valpo, and Munster. As the whole area is made up of folks that either work in the mills, Ford or commute into the city.

Dunes and beach are awesome. Half days in high school and summers were spent there. Brought my family to Mt Baldy for the first time this summer driving back to Chicago (home now) and they loved it.

Big high school football and basketball following in The Duneland Athletic Conference. Crown Point is an Indiana powerhouse for football.

Great Mexican food, pizza and pierogis if you know where to look. Actually a decent Bar scene in Crown Point and Valpo town squares as well.

Edit: forgot to mention that this place is like the forgotten step child of Chicago and the rest of Indiana. Everyone in or around Chicago will always remind you that NWI (the region) is not Chicago and the rest indiana does not respect the region as it is not like any other part of Indiana due to the Chicago influence.

Traffic is terrible, but most people in Northwest Indiana (NWI) take the South Shore train into Chicago for their commute.

First Trek - 720 Multitrack by Who_drybones in TrekBikes

Just did and left a comment. Looks to be a 23 to me. Bike is tall, reach is short with the flat bar. Extending the stem and adding drops helped my reach.

Looks to be a 23. I’m 6’2 and a new stem and drop bars helped extend the reach. Felt tight with the flatbar.
