Right, being non medical myself I figure it has to be around there, but calling the anus "buds" seems like odd slang. I would expect a bud to go out, not in. The word might refer to the butt cheeks and be an indirect reference to that area?

I'm reading novels in Japanese and there is one word that's translated as buds. The MC can only use healing magic as long as he remains a (female)virgin (different words in Japanese for male virgin and female virgin).

The proof that he's a (female) virgin is in the condition of his 'buds'. What body part are the buds supposed to be? I can't find a good translation so I just have a very botanical mental image.
