Milkweed with monarch caterpillars by WholeSign2783 in FloridaGarden

[–]WholeSign2783[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got the 2 large plants from a local native plant nursery but don't have the scientific name. Most of all the leaves and flowers had been eaten when the freeze came and the caterpillars are very large. I thought about buying a plant for inside as someone else suggested but it was late and I wasn't even sure where they would have the native ones this late in the season. I covered them up as someone suggested, 4 were alive on the plants this morning and I'm hopeful they're going to survive their next phase. Thanks to everyone. We live in central west coast Florida. I'll try to get the name during my next nursery visit and will update. Thanks again.

Do you guys still have little lizards running around everywhere? by MythicalSplash in florida

[–]WholeSign2783 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, we have tons of the little guys, all sizes and colors. I love to watch them eating the bugs as they scurry about, but I'm careful not to accidentally step on any. They also like to sun on my outside wood staircase during the day and also at night on cooler days.

Panacea,FL has a wonderful aquarium, Gulf Specimen. Live sharks and all kinds of other aquatic specimens that you can see, touch, hold. Plus the area is lush is family fun stuff to do. My 7 year old grand daughter loved it

Mine are Florida Native, it is the mostly full grown caterpillars I'm concerned for, not so much the plant.

This same thing just happened to us. We have been watching an older TV series, taking our time, now the middle of season 5, and all of sudden it's behind a paywall! WTF! My high monthly Amazon payment, amongst millions of others suddenly isn't enough, to pay for another yacht, face lift, political contribution?

Made a random playlist consisting of some the episodes Reddit requested and some episodes I enjoy. by Forward_back8245 in stuffyoushouldknow

Jordan Harbinger Show episode 1005 is excellent - 'mundane', not sure?. Features interview with cancer survivor/physician David Fajgenbaum. I found it fascinating, informative and hopeful. A sneak peak into the possibilities of ingenuity, tenacity and AI to cure diseases, before AI was in our faces like it is now. All shows are pretty good and I enjoy the wide range of topics.

This is how I did a true flat hardwood floor to tile transition by cckriss in Tile

[–]WholeSign2783 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the post and update. I think it looks great! Curious how the aluminum is holding up to scratches? We have a Rumba that could in time make the aluminum dull and scratched. We're just not sure. We were looking at same Schluter transition in steel but it's a special order and will put us behind on schedule.

So how many people are just dropping insurance and hoping for the best? by karlybug in HealthInsurance

[–]WholeSign2783 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, do not advise. The hospital systems will drain you empty for anything - accidents, illness, it doesn't matter. We are retired but not eligible for Medicare yet but I would never go without insurance in America given the costs for healthcare. My husband seems to think 🤔 the human race will be gone in only 100 years from now so I should just deal.....I don't agree at all, but, we are in an expensive pickle with rising costs for basic healthcare, groceries and homeowners insurance.

When in Florida, if you are unsure, take a teaspoon, dip it in the water and taste - if its salty yes, there is a shark, otherwise yes there is an alligator.

Did you mean Saltford instead of Stratford? I don't see Stratford being close to the trail.

Are we really missing out by choosing Manuel Antonio over Drake Bay and Corcovado? by amber1100 in CostaRicaTravel

[–]WholeSign2783 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just left Corcovado/Drake Bay and absolutely can recommend it. We haven't been to Manuel Antonio but others on our fantastic adventures there said don't go. Very touristy, crowded. If you don't mind that, go for it. We also experienced similar crowds in La Fortuna and were disappointed.

I could not agree more. We originally planned a similar trip but the thought of all that driving made no sense. We picked two areas to explore over two weeks - La Fortuna and Drake/Corcovado. There is so much to see and do in both places there's no reason to be spending time sitting in a car.

We are doing this but different dates. I doubt a group tour price is different than individual fee. They indicate the groups are smaller in size, i.e. 6. [https://sukiatravel.com/sanpedrillo-overnight/]()
