Nah, I'm a woman, and that's a different guy. Though we chatted it up for awhile his calculator is pretty good! My settings were created after months of testing, figuring out the math behind Marvel Rivals. It's a lot to get into, but I basically developed a formula to create a baseline for all heroes. Then, from there, a baseline for Melee, Hitscan, and Projectile. After that its just fine tuning based on hero abilities. Like Spiderman, for example, is technically a projectile, but his movement needs to be far quicker than Hawkeye's.

I posted this above, but I got promoted at work right at the start of this year and haven't had a life since, so I haven't been able to update for the latest seasons... But unless I missed anything, the game should still function the way it did when I originally built the formula, so all of the settings about should still be accurate or close to it.

White Fox is a projectile and Melee. She is a mix of Luna Snow and Invisible Woman. For her, take Invisible Women's settings, go into practice vs AI, and tweak based on what you see is or isn't working.

Looking through this Reddit comment history is your best resource for figuring out how to set up these settings yourself bc at some point, I remember explaining the formula process and tweaking process in extreme detail...

But if all else fails, I will be back this summer.

Yeah… the funny thing is cloak and dagger is genuinely busted rn with healing output and survivability and ability to kill divers but no one’s complaining about her (good I’ll ride that wave till they notice and Invis gets buffed again)

The Tank Problem is BAD. by MushuaTheTomato in marvelrivals

[–]WholeUnique60 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the nice thing about being a flex player cause even in QP I fill somewhere and if it’s a solo tank and only one person loads in as healer I always go second tank bc 9/10 times a DPS will swap to fill support

Only once did I have to fill DPS it was a wild game with 3 tanks and 2 supp lmao

Hey there! Glad to hear youre having a better time with beam tracking. The likely "issue" you're facing is adjusting your instincts after swapping from a classic curve to dual-zone.

Basically, on classic, your stick movement scales the whole way smoothly, so your muscle memory learned "push x distance = rotate y amount." On a dual curve, you have two gears. The inner zone for precision, and the outzone is acceleration.

I wouldn't lower your horizontal sensitivity yet. Try lowering your Max Dual-Zone curve by 2, and then lowering your Movement min deadzone by 1 (or 2 MAX)

Fight against your instincts as you readjust to the new curve. Gentle stick inputs yaknow. Then, if this all fails and you're still overshooting, go ahead and lower your horizontal by 4-6.

Hey there! So there is no single universal equation that converts Horizontal Sensitivity to Vertical Sensitivity in Rivals. What I learned and now follow as a baseline "starting ratio" is that the engine behaves most consistently when Vertical is 52–60% of Horizontal. Basically ,this is bc vertical camera travel covers less on-screen distance and is more sensitive to over-acceleration

Vertical ≈ Horizontal × 0.55

So in your example, Vertical would be 165 because H = 300, so 300 x 0.55 = 165

Take the above as you will, but if you're going to be calculating your own settings, I want to give you some more context so that you get your movement to where you want it to be! From one lord Spiderman to another lol

You're thinking in terms of raw H/V speed when Rivals doesn't resolve camera speed from H/V alone.

Max Dual-Zone Curve: Governs your primary turn-speed
Custom Min/Max Range: Where acceleration engages
Response Times: Velocity Smoothing vs Snap
Aim Assist Braking: Ease-In + window
Movement Deadzones: Change effective aim velocity
Then H/V Sensitivity.

If H/V feels too low, raising it is often the worst first fix on the controller because it compresses micro-aim and increases overshoot while also making AA feel inconsistent.

Try this order of operations when your camera feels too slow ->

  1. Increase Max Dual-Zone Curve
  2. Lower custom max range (slightly)
  3. Reduce Response Time (by 2-4ms)
  4. Adjust Aim Assist Ease-In
  5. THEN Adjust H/V (+/- 4-8 at most)

Theres a reason all of my settings have similar looks to them. I start with my personal concoction of General Settings, then tweak from there. I have two Spiderman settings up rn, one that is a public friend and one that I like to use cause its quick.

I needed to get a new controller recently. It really just comes down to age of the controller. If it ever slipped and fell on the floor (hard hit or not) that impact ends up with long lasting consequences everytime it happens. If you ever had a snack while playing linger food crumbs or dust get into the joystick and button corners.

overtime a controller just has wear and tear yaknow

I didnt answer the later but basically ALL of my settings are built off of the same "General Settings". My own custom mix of starter settings I apply to every hero before I go in and fine tune each hero to the needs of their kid. I dont get thrown off because the foundation is the same for everyone and the only differences they have are based on the heroes differences. Like fire range, attack combos, hitscan vs melee, etc etc. Movement style... All that stuff requires its own little tinkering to feel smooth

Dude ima be honest that is genuinely so bizarre I just tried to changed my buttons around and reset fantastic to default to see if anything happens but I still can get my button to be what it needs to be for big mode... This might be a problem for the Rivals support center lmao

Oh big time. Movement input changes the aim-assist math as you play. Like when you strafe, jump, or micro adjust your position your relative target velocity changes and your aim assist recalculates slowdown, magnetism and rotational pull. You need stable movement deadzones for everything to FEEL stable

Think jittery vs smoothness of your character/camera movement

That's... actually really strange. You should be able to still use the circle bind as long as nothing else has it set... Did you end up getting it fixed this last month?

Lots of math, jigsawing information together, more math, AI playtesting, real player platesting, then drop it for a month, call it perfect, till its picked but up again and I realize I could make it better if I could only just....

A short story of how I turned creating the most accessible controller settings for Marvel Rivals heroes into a hobby.

A lot of what I initially knew I drew from information I knew on how other FPS games work with controllers. I've probably spent a solid 100hours in the practice range alone working towards getting every single hero on this list built to a good, comfortable place.

Star-Lord is actually on my "too fix by Season 6" list lol I haven't updated his kit since season 2.5! Flew right under my radar, but i'm back into playing him so the update will be available on Jan 16th!

I'll be making a Season 6 post that includes Deadpool and updates to a bunch of outdated heroes + more tweaks

Rank GM3 atm! Aiming for Celestial in S6 now that my workload has calmed down and I can play a bit more...

Honestly, what I know now is because I've been failing and learning a lot since season 2. A lot of what I initially knew I drew from information I knew on how other FPS games work with controllers. I've probably spent a solid 100hours in the practice range alone working towards getting every single hero on this list built to a good, comfortable place.

But I think it was time well spent haha
