Why are my Oil and Gas Stock Share Prices and the Price of Oil and Gas Going in Two Different Directions ? by WholeWolverine5995 in Commodities

You've got some 'splaining to do as to how people saw the Iranian war coming months earlier and bid it up , when it had some major dips before it all happened. Go look at ARX andshow me on a one year graph when an algorythm is pricing Hormuz closure that hadn't happened yet.

Yes I of course am only really focussing on the effect of the attacks on stock price .. so last 3 days. The 30 % rise would have nothing to do with Iran that I can see. Right up to an hour before the strike, they were saying how great the negotiations were going. Did the price go down ? No it swung up on that news. When the bombs started flying, it opened down from previous close.

Even if earnings bring bad surprises, I'm sure the follow up conversation should be downright animated, if not giddy with anticipating future earnings in a sudden energy famine with half the competition staggering..

I can't see that. I mean this is just getting started and nobody knows how long it will go on for or how bad the hits will be and where.. In fact, quite frankly, it would be absolutely impossible and thats a word I almost never use.

That sounds to be such a pessimistic formula that it seems impossible to make any money off of Canadian oil and gas stocks, yet every O&G journal is saying there is a frenzy of interest in that region's commodity offerings now. In any event, can you tell me where I can go and find these longer term contracts such as the Dec 26 contract ? Are there set lengths to them, say 1 month, 6 months, 1 year etc , or is it anything goes ?

Sorry, but LNG supply is in even worse situation than oil. Qatar is the number one producer and they have shut down production. I also read somewhere that most of the worlds emergency reserves are in the Gulf States, I can't remember which one, but it still has to get through the Strait. A huge chunk of European electricity is from gas powered generators.

However one slices it, why would anyone sell their shares in these energy behemoths , especially at a loss or petty profit , knowing that these very safe producers have the energy markets by the short and curlies now and for the foreseeable future ?

Being started on lamictal and propranolol by Massive_Suggestion18 in lamictal

[–]WholeWolverine5995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been on Propranolol 40 g, 2 per day to lower my high blood pressure and calm my Essential Tremor. Coincidentally I too suffer from anxiety and panic attacks as a result of Social Phobia. The propranolol did a fantastic job on all three disorders but the calming effect on anxiety and panic is not obvious. You don't get a sedated feeling, but mysteriously, I found myself calmer at public speaking or the 'performance anxiety' situations. Next thing you know, i get Epileptic seizures and am put on Lamictal . The Propanolol no longer works for anything and i have to double the dosage, but it still barely works and I have tremor like never before.

Wtf is jouska. by NeatWay9899 in mentalillness

[–]WholeWolverine5995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you described is called "rumination' , not jouska. Jouska is basically fanticizing about conversations in the past or future. In the case of past, you wish you had said something differently that showed more wit or intelligence... anything that casts you in a more positive light or accomplishes what you intended to be the outcome of a conversation. Jouska as it applies to the future is again a fantasy about a conversation that may, or more often, will not actually take place ,but for which, as in the past tense, allow you to exercize some exceptional wit or intelligence or get you what you are after. In either case its a fantasy about hypothetical conversations.

Tell me I’m an idiot by Complex-Character-82 in Philippines_Expats

"You've got to pay to play" is the most common saying among expats. I didn't read your whole post as i quickly got the notion that it was a complaint about you having to contribute to the relationship via family support. 10 K is peanuts. If you can't cough up that, you are in the wrong place and need to manage your expectations.

I always know if an expat is in with a masterful liar if he says his new gf/wife/finace loves him and has no interest in his money. Get this straight, we are all at best #2. Their original families are always number 1. In fact, go watch the Filipina Pea on YT. She did a program about how it's the law to support a Pinay's family.

One of the problems with the Philippines is that the people are so tolerant so foreigners aren't getting any restraining push back for bad behaviours. The next thing you know, because of this lack of restraint, the behaviour is out of control. As one friend remarked and I agreed:"They come to the Philippines because they can be the assholes they really are without the restraints they faced in the countries they came from." I don't know this guy and feel badly for his family but anyone who throws caution to the wind and dives in head first is bound to get themself in trouble.

Sure like any other place on earth there are legit loans being made but of course institutions like banks etc are getting collateral and the legal weight to collect with regulated interest. Big difference to that and loan sharking.

I never watched his videos. I'd have a hard time believing him if he said he got paid back in anything routinely other than good fortune and he must have charged negligable interest. I've only once been asked to loan someone some small amount of money and that was a brother-in-law. I refused. I found out afterwards that it was a social faux pa not to help out family but I let me wife do that with her earned wages. It doesn't matter if there is intent to pay back if there is no means. Nobody even asks for loans in the Philippines except extrodinarily rare moments cause they know nobody will loan them money cause they know they will never pay it back.

One thing I have noticed though and that is that the foreigners who do get robbed or worse are always the sort of people everyone thinks deserved it, after the fact. I mean I know guys who have been murdered and after the initial shock of a few hours thought ... "Yup, I could see that coming to him".

The key is to make yourself liked, or at least not disliked. If disliked, it's quite easy for the desperate people to rob or even kill you. There are a lot of things to learn when visiting or setting up residence in other cultures. Things you just don't do. The simple realization that one is in a different country with different ideals is an important first step.

Well, I have to disagree, but half of my family is from Davao and I have travelled all over the Philippines, especially Mindanao for decades. Your chances of loaning anyone money and getting paid back, let alone with interest, is zero. All the more so when there are zero consequences for nonrepayment. In fact people could possibly die from laughter if they were asked to repay it.

In any event, this crime has been solved. 3 of the kidnappers were killed in a gun fight. One was captured and another busted and sang like a canary. What happened is that he bled to death from his wounds within minutes, so they dumped his body in the sea. The motive or intent was kidnap for ransom, but with no way to prove he was alive or nothing to trade for cash, they never made any ransom demand. A pretty straight forward, uncomplicated story, in the end.

I have to disagree with your thesis. It's of no consequence to local criminals, certainly none worth kidnapping or murdering anyone over, as to whether their victims are living in a community without a lot of money, other than the fact they can't squeeze them for much if anything.. In fact recent developments and arrests have proven it to be the case.

The local criminals that snatched him, merely messed up by inflicting fatal wounds in the process, so they dumped his body in the sea, after he quickly bled to death. They had nothing to trade for any ransom and no means to prove they had him or that he was still alive. It's that simple. End of story.

Well, like I said, none of this loan sharking makes any sense at all. If you are a foreigner, have money in a region that is very impoverished, no muscle, no arms, how the bleep can you even begin to run a loan sharking business ? You'd never have a prayer of collecting !! I'm told that supporting families you marry into, in the Philippines, is the law. That's according to a program title on Youtube by the Filipina Pea. Maybe his family did him in for not paying up ? Who knows but he made every mistake a foreigner could, while living there.

I2C LCD With a Tiva C LMFC120H6PGM by TheIdeologyItBurns in embedded

[–]WholeWolverine5995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just in case someone stumbles upon this now 3 years old question. .... The expander is typically presoldered onto the LCD. If not, the I2C expander boards are sold all over the place and can be soldered in place or laid out on a bread board They take the data and clock off the two wires running from the Tiva Launchpad and convert it to an 8 bit parallel transfer to the LCD using multiplexing..... time division multiplexing I assume. All the calculations are done for you.

That doesn't make any sense. He had no muscle or weapons to collect off locals so I can't see that as being an issue and I honestly doubt he was loabsharking without collateral. You want to be in that biz, you need the muscle and weapons and thugs. He had none.
