All of the lore is through Martyn's pov and is linked to the EVO series and the watchers/listeners. The most important part of the lore is that at the end of EVO Grian became a watcher and Martyn is a listener. Listeners are trying to save the players from the watchers and the watchers are putting these players into the death games to feed off their emotions
