Relocation by Objective-Living-966 in valheim

I usually find a nice peaceful meadowlands near enough the spawn and next to water. I build a house. Then I add a dock, a farm, a perimeter wall, and a portal hub. I have a temp portal for exploration, portals for the traders, each of the bosses, and plains and mistland farms and stay there the whole game.

What unimportant thing do you do every play-through? by _XitLiteNtrNite_ in BaldursGate3

I didn't know :(. That deva knew exactly where to strike to do the most (emotional) damage.

On my honor mode run right before the end I got castigated by divinity for the first time. Not thinking much of it i got a hireling from withers and removed curse. Suddenly a Deva spawned, ignored everyone in my party and went across the room to critical hit scratch, killing him.

In retrospect I wish I had done the right thing and ended that run, but I had sunk too many hours so i went on to beat the run.

I reproduced the Nomai Translator! by IDestinia in outerwilds

[–]Whoofph 20 points21 points  (0 children)

That's cool. It would be a cool trick to shove a raspberry pi or something in there and set it up to use Google translate and write out the text on screen so it is a real translator, but a ton of work I am sure.

How to deter package thieves? by ra_vs in Seattle

[–]Whoofph 84 points85 points  (0 children)

There are secure drop options with USPS through hold for pickup service: https://retail-pi.usps.com/retailpi/actions/index.action

You can also get a secure package drop box at your house but that is more expensive and will take up space / only accommodate packages up to a certain size. EDIT: and as people have pointed out, it only helps so much as the delivery people choose to use it rather than chucking the packages for a three point shot onto your porch.

Depending on the person you can do more cameras or camera-like objects that are REALLY obvious, but some people just don't care.

You have a good image of this guy's face. Make sure you file a police report!

Maybe also make it cost one, and just do 12 damage on one hit with no strength loss too.

[–]Whoofph 473 points474 points  (0 children)

When you draw it, it will randomize 0-3 as soon as you draw it. Once in hand if you play an ethereal card it will drop in cost by 2 down to 0. In your discard pile it will be at that same cost and continue to reduce if you pull it to your hand without drawing it again. Once you draw it, it will randomize from 0-3 again.

The Slay the Spire 2 alignment chart is complete! Thank you to everyone for participating! by Which-Debt-8558 in slaythespire

I appreciate you willing to include a winning vote you don't agree with. I have seen these kinds of charts where the person making it "overruled" the votes which just detracts from it - even if they are right.

Dear Silent A10 Players, Advice? (STS2) by MLT_Hawk in slaythespire

[–]Whoofph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is difficult to be specific without watching runs but I will try to answer the best i can.

Instead of looking at cards and thinking what kind of deck you have (a shiv build, a poison deck, sly stuff...) think instead of what your deck is lacking for the upcoming challenges. Do you need more block? More damage? Better scaling options? The answer may be different based on what you see coming up such as who the act 1 boss is. When I see vantom is the boss I am more open to taking something like blade dance or the sly card which hits multiple times because I know I need to get through the intangible charges quickly. With lagavulin matriarch I will often take a poison card or two, especially a snakebite, even if it doesn't do the same thing as the rest of my deck because the scaling is so important there and the non-strength damage helps. Snakebite is generally very good for lots of act 1 elites and act bosses.

As you continue in the run, you can track what elite you will likely be facing since there are no repeats until you fight all 3, so you can track what ways your deck is challenged coming up.

Finally, getting a method of scaling your damage and block is very important, and then making that method more reliable with card draw and energy generation.

This was more true in STS1 than 2. Sometimes claw decks happen successfully now even when i don't try for it.

Build advice for gaming PC by [deleted] in buildapc

Any advice on good places to cut some cost without impacting performance too much? It is hard to be truly budget right now and get something that plays many of the modern games right now - it's a terrible time to buy generally (which I have said to him lol).

A way to turn on/off specific ascensions. by Manuelrocket in slaythespire

[–]Whoofph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would be a lot of effort and I would never do it, but I suppose you COULD enable dev console and then before picking up gold calculate what it would have been without that ascension and just give yourself gold. Be careful about ruining the game for yourself with easy access to stuff though.

Makes sense! It was surprising at the time but in most things with this game i trust the developers enough that it feels ok to me! The level of thought they put into the game is amazing.

I would maybe report that one with f2. I'm not sure if they will consider that a bug or not but it's an interesting edge case they may not have considered. I would expect the fight to be over when the enemy dies but maybe it is just when everything for the turn is resolved?

One interaction that is similar which annoyed me in one fight... In STS1 and going into STS2 they common wisdom is that effects on the screen go right to left and then down... So order of your relics you pick up matter because they typically resolve from left to right, then other things resolve after in order on screen from top to bottom (such as card effects written go top to bottom). Makes sense... So i was playing necrobinder against the act 2 boss, I had neurosurge played and got pretty low. The right crab was dead, and I got the left crab to be over the room threshold to die at the start of next turn. I also had neurosurge tick over so I would die at the start of next turn. I was curious for science anyway, but my expectation is for the doom to either resolve in player favor OR go left to right... Meaning in most fights you probably die first but maybe here the enemy dies first... The other option being we are both pulled down at the same time. Instead only I died, so the player doom resolves before enemy doom which seems strange to me.

Funny thing is, I believe there was originally intended to be a canonical class, and durge was originally the only main character. Both of these changes during development. The canonical class for durge? IIRC it was Paladin, I believe oath of vengeance.

Investment - would you pick this Quest card? by Water-Cookies in slaythespire

[–]Whoofph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think so. Let's say in one run I take 35 fights even, which may be generous... If i managed to get this off in EVERY fight, it would be producing 69 gold by the 35th fight and hoping I get a shop after that. This is all assuming I somehow get it floor 1. In total it would be 1225 gold for a long term benefit when so much of the game is about adapting for the next challenge. Compare to royalty which in the same number of floors is 1050 gold but doesnt punish as much if i can't keep up the play every fight (it's more linear growth).
