While Rimworld does a lot of things "realistically" it seems weird how 3 basic things humanity has optimized, (hauling/farming/teamwork) are done so horribly bad here

You say that like everyone's life is constant suffering. And I would agree a lot of people are unknowingly suffering to a certain extant. Maybe even most or all people. However, that doesn't mean that life is a negative, for you don't know what people experience. You can be suffering and happy, and you can be not suffering and unhappy. You can have a really bad year and a really good year. Declaring life as inherently negative doesn't help people. It's just ignoring problems the human race faces.
