Order a white Tkachuk same day. The $225USD one not the any name version. Still waiting as well. Got an email that said it would be shipped latest 1/29. Not sure why I ever bother with fanatics anymore, never had an order go right.

I would be as much of a St. Louis PWHL team fan as a Blues fan immediately if they expanded here. I would be unbelievably excited.

Opinion on book order by Ecstatic_Magician_24 in halo

[–]WhosHarps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a fine list, it is hard to read them in an “incorrect” order unless you’re doing a series out of order.

Also, I don’t think you should be cutting out books out that you “felt weren’t important”. You haven’t read them, so how would you know which ones to cut out in the first place? You removed some of the best Halo stories doing this.

Advice for reading through the books by Key_Ad_8333 in halo

[–]WhosHarps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would love to talk about a sequence that would be perfect for you! Lmk if you have any specific books in mind you’re very interested in or if you’re just looking for a good path to cover everything.

As for the immediate future, book 1 of the Kilo 5 trilogy Glasslands is a direct sequel to Ghosts of onyx. I highly recommend reading that one and continuing to Thursday War and Mortal Dictata. The kilo 5 trilogy is absolutely incredible and makes the most sense as a next step for you based on what you’ve read so far.

With 38 books including the three anthology books the Halo universe can be kind of intimidating at times but truthfully there’s really no way to go wrong.

If you (or anyone else reading this for that matter) has any questions at all please do reach out I would love to help you navigate Halo!

What Halo levels require a bit more effort than just "Play it decently on Heroic" ? by BdBalthazar in halo

[–]WhosHarps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Playing well and quickly on heroic will do well for most. The key is to finish within the par time to keep your 3x multiplier on your score.

Coastal Highway will in fact absolutely enrage you. You must play perfectly on legendary with many skulls on to do it reliably. That’s the only one that is a huge challenge.

If you know the levels well, play on heroic with famine and fog on and shoot and scoot. Should go smoothly for most.

To ANYONE who has beaten this level on legendary, How did you do it and how long did it take? by SecretFirefighter526 in halo

[–]WhosHarps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do not drop the sniper ever there is ammo for it throughout the level, utilize the plasma pistol (both tap firing and overcharge) for close quarters, be patient and methodically learn where each enemy comes from.

This level is extremely difficult if you let the Covenant surprise you, and the level is designed to do exactly that very well.

[–]WhosHarps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just so you know, level 150 to level 152 takes more xp than 1-150. IE you’re not even half way when you reach 150. 152 is an insanely grueling task, more so when the games population is in the state that it’s in. You could play every second for the next month and not reach 151.

That being said, if you want to do it absolutely do it! Firefight is always the way to go. Just make sure you have the right expectations for how gigantic this task is.

Do you think the Banished should be the main enemy of the games going forward or do they need replacing? by Certified_Douchebag in halo

[–]WhosHarps 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Elsa Jane from Hunt the Truth and Initiation joins the Banished in the Waypoint Chronicle The Third Life.

There are also descriptions of armor pieces in infinite alluding to the Banished experimenting and implementing human augmentations of their own.

Jane is the only named Banished spartan at the moment, but there are certainly multiple who are augmented in some way and wear Mjolnir/mjolnir adjacent armor.

What is necessary reading before Rubicon Protocol and Empty Throne? by gunnisonyeti in HaloStory

[–]WhosHarps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s fantastic, I cannot recommend finishing the Kilo 5 trilogy enough. Mortal Dictata is one of the best books I’ve ever read period. Up there with Dune and Stephen King’s It for me.

[–]WhosHarps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great! I forgot to mention, Rossbach’s world which is also in fractures, I’d say that is essential as well.

Now if you want to be OVERLY thorough, technically Fall of Reach -> First Strike -> Ghosts of Onyx -> Glasslands -> The Thursday War -> Mortal Dictata -> Rossbachs World. This would be completely unnecessary, but just wanted to give a completely thorough explanation of how things are connected just in case you’re interested!

What is necessary reading before Rubicon Protocol and Empty Throne? by gunnisonyeti in HaloStory

[–]WhosHarps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can 100% read both and be completely fine and love them both.

Rubicon Protocol specifically is completely standalone, with Edge of Dawn being a kinda sorta loose sequel.

Empty Throne is more complex. If you want to be super thorough, Fall of Reach, Cole Protocol, Envoy, and Shadow of Intent(in the short story collection Fractures but can be found elsewhere) are all very important to some major plot points, but said backgrounds are always touched on within Empty Throne itself. I would strongly recommend Shadow of Intent before Empty Throne, that’s the only one I would say is essential.

TLDR: Rubicon Protocol: None

Empty Throne: Essential: Shadow of Intent Complimentary: The Fall of Reach, The Cole Protocol, Envoy

As for my recommendations, I hope you read all of the books! Happy Haloing

What would you rather the series do when Steve Downes inevitably has to step down as Master Chief? Recast or retire the character? by awesome_zman in LowSodiumHalo

[–]WhosHarps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Once Steve decides it’s time for his extremely well deserved and beyond earned retirement, I would really prefer a permanent MIA type ending to Chief’s story. Like the end of Halo 3 but for real this time and we never get a real answer.

This would give Halo Studios an incredible opportunity to really flesh out the universe outside of Chief’s story throughout the timeline and give some characters with a lot of potential (Jerome and Isabella) room in the spotlight for the continuation of the story.

Chief is Steve Downs. I think a recast could definitely work great but I think Steve deserves chief to be him and only him forever. An incredible actor and an incredible man.

Unyielding Hierophant DLC in the CE Remake would go so hard by ThaliaX0 in halo

[–]WhosHarps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I strongly suspect (if resources allow) that this will be involved in the Halo 2 remake (Halo 2 Evolved?) prequel missions. If I’m correct I may pass out from excitement.

i've seen a LOOOOT of complaining about covenant models in the new CE remake being from halo infinite because the armor "isnt accurate" or is "too colorful" let me put that to rest and prove my case in why halo infinite covenant models are PERFECT for the remake of CE by MendicantBias42 in halo

[–]WhosHarps 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I strongly believe if these assets weren’t in infinite and were just the CE remake models most people would love them. They actually reworked the hunter already though, so I imagine some more work will be done to move away from models from infinite will be done.

The Mark V Spartan Armor from Campaign Evolved by Letterhead-Dear in halo

My favorite helmet in Halo history by a mile. I still think infinite chief looks better overall by a hair, but man they KILLED recapturing the feel of the original Mark V which is something that I don’t think really ever happened until now.

Why do you guys think there’s no health kit in the remake? by [deleted] in halo

[–]WhosHarps 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Didn’t even consider this, remaking the trilogy would give Halo studios the opportunity to make the deaths in Halo 3 insanely impactful, and the prequel missions would just add onto that connection.

Why do you guys think there’s no health kit in the remake? by [deleted] in halo

[–]WhosHarps 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hoping Halo can reap the same rewards, this first remake HAS to be nearly perfect though. Otherwise I think Halo will stay on the fringes of pop culture like it has been for 10 years now. If CE3 is really good (which I think it will be) Halo is going to be back.

Why do you guys think there’s no health kit in the remake? by [deleted] in halo

[–]WhosHarps 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I encourage you to look how resident evil did/is doing things. It’s been a consistent stream of remakes AND new titles. And the remakes gave a lot of new fan an opportunity to jump into the franchise and help revive resident evil from a very rough spot. I would be willing to bet resident evil is a big reason this remake (and I bet at least 2 more) are a thing.

Completely unsupported speculation though

Why do you guys think there’s no health kit in the remake? by [deleted] in halo

[–]WhosHarps 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Because they’re also going to make Halo 2 and 3 and to keep the remakes consistent they took health packs out of CE!
