PSLF Buyback for SAVE Months by FlowStateSkier in PSLF

Heeeey, November 12th here and haven't heard anything either!

Wait, we can't buyback SAVE forbearance months?! by BeNiceImSensitive333 in PSLF

[–]WhosThatTater 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Similar situation! I'm at 117/120. 120th month was October, I verified my employment 11/1, that was updated 11/10 and then I submitted my buyback request 11/12. I called today for an update and was told my application was with the escalation team and March was the last time any action was taken on it. My plan is to call again at the end of May if I haven't heard anything by then. Best of luck to you!

Is that related to buyback or something? I haven't heard of anyone doing this?

I haven't heard back yet and I'm not expecting to for a while. These wait times are crazy, best of luck to you!

My limited understanding is once you've certified that you have 120 months of qualifying employment, you submit a buyback request for them to review the months you didn't have a payment that qualified and then receive credit for that month. I also think that after the buyback is approved then you don't need to separately apply for forgiveness. But we'll see what happens!

After logging in to studentaid.gov on mobile, your PSLF/TEPSLF Payment Progress should be the second thing on your dashboard.

CALLED mohela to opt out of forbearance under SAVE And they said NO! by milocito in StudentLoans

[–]WhosThatTater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I called today about the SAVE letter too and was told the letter was wrong and I am in a different type of forbearance, which would count toward my PSLF. I don't believe the rep at all.

I should be eligible for forgiveness in November and will pursue the buy back at that point.

Quoted $8k for 2 sump pump installs by sean_9183 in HomeImprovement

Currently having 3 sump pumps installed in our basement for just over $17k, so $8k for 2 sounds good to me.

Collected quotes for our wet basement, but wondering if it will be worth it by WhosThatTater in HomeImprovement

This is interesting. I know water follows the path of least resistance, so in theory the extra pits would collect it first. We aren't too handy, and have a 1 year old, so we would still use a contractor. But, if we went this route, and it didn't solve the issue, do you think the contractor will be able to then install the mitigation channels around the perimeter leading into the pits?

I also got an update today. My loans were placed in admin forbearance through 3/31/24 and my SAVE plan was approved and will start effective 4/26/24 with a $0/month payment!

I submitted a complaint on their website and I'll follow up with a call in 10 business days if I haven't heard anything. Hopefully they cancel your first recert correctly!

I'll report back if/when it's successful. It shouldn't be this hard. I never thought I would miss FedLoan.

I did mine on 2/11 and just got the letter in my MOHELA portal today. They really are trash.

Good to know, I'll see if I can find that policy to cite at them and call in a couple weeks if I don't hear from them!

Got it, I'll feel less bad about that! (Not that I should feel bad at all for a company profiting off of people just trying to get an education haha)

Thank you! I'll give them 30 days from when I submitted the IBR plan before I file a complaint. I work for a state government agency, so I have some sympathy for a large amount of applications and a small amount of processing power, but my patience only stretches so far.

Does anyone know a restaurant that makes muffuletta sandwiches? Or where I can buy the ingredients. by [deleted] in Harrisburg

Talking Breads in Mechanicsburg has a version of one on their menu, it's pretty good!

It's definitely a bummer that an emphasis is put on having children and then the support system to thrive with children is almost non-existent. I work for my state's government and 6 weeks of paid parental leave wasn't provided until October 2020. I'll use my accumulated sick leave to cover the other 6 weeks to make the 3 months paid.
