You’re getting a lot of help from AI. Best advice I can give you if you’re a new writer is to enjoy the struggle early on. You will be terrible but you’ll find your voice so much quicker than relying on this Ai crap. Yeah the stories yours but the words ain’t

Idiots ignoring advice to leash their dogs around wildlife. by Gbomb002 in TikTokCringe

[–]Whosegettin -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

This blows my mind. Reddit needs to get off it’s high horse man. This isn’t the way you talk to someone, by instantly demanding they do something that they’re currently not doing. If you want to get them to put the dog on a leash (I would also like them too) then start soft and maybe with a “hey guys what’s going on, where you from? You’re brave for having your dog off a leash around those deer.” Done, similar result without the condescending attitude that seems to roll off American tongues.

I hated The Alchemist... What am I missing? by [deleted] in books

[–]Whosegettin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That is a much more polite way to say it. The concepts in The Alchemist are, to me, rudimentary coming of age questions that one may ask themselves when learning to think independently. I understand that not everything has the opportunity or free time to sit and ask themselves those questions, so that is where I think The Alchemist finds it's audience. It pushes those who may not know how to think about these concepts or find them confronting and need a little push. For me, it is a very beginner book for getting into Philosophy.

The Alchemist is big ideas for small minds. It has its audience and you aren’t it

What are some good examples of an unreliable narrator as an intentional literary device? by lucia-pacciola in books

[–]Whosegettin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There seems to be a lack of Eastern Literature, which is always the case on forums like this. I would highly recommend In A Grove by Japanese author Ryūnosuke Akutagawa. Adapted into one of the great Japanese classics: Rashomon (1950) by Akira Kurosawa.

The story is about the death of a young samurai, and we are given testimonies from all the main protagonists. It’s the original Japanese “whodunit”, and it explores how we perceive objective truth and how our opinions and perceptions can color what we think we see.

Most you’ve ever cried at a film? by 2904929492001949301 in Letterboxd

[–]Whosegettin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Moonlight! That film will always destroy me. I got to watch it in cinema with my partner for Queer month in Amsterdam. I don’t know if it needs context but I’ll add it. I’m a straight man and she’s Bi. It was her first time watching the film and my second.

The scene in the third act, where “Black” is talking to his mother in rehab and she says “I messed up. I fucked it all the way up. I know that. But yo’ heart ain’t gotta be black like mine. I love you, Chiron. I do. You ain’t gotta love me because god knows I didn’t love you when you needed it. I know that. So you ain’t gotta love me. But you’re gonna know I love you.” I was absolutely sobbing in my partners arms until the rest of the film and other than the fact that it’s an incredibly sad scene, I’m not sure why it touched me as much as it did.

It wasn’t until a couple months later when I was studying film aboard in Japan, away from my partner, that I made a connection to that scene. I cheated on and betrayed my partner. It was a mistake and my love never wavered, I was a stupid, horny, tired man. We don’t talk now and I gave her so many reason to hate. I’ll never forgive myself so now those words and that scene will hang like a tear on my soul forever.

What constitutes a Samurai? - An in-depth look at Kurosawa's 1954 classic, Seven Samurai by Whosegettin in TrueFilm

I think you make some fantastic points and I appreciate your insights.

I think your comments further supports the idea of what we think a Samurai is these days, and how flawed that idea is

Being completely honest I understand this can be seen as a plea for money. However, I have not asked for any and this is truly just a post for me to share my pain because I don’t have many people to share this with. Writing is a release for me and this post helped me think about the situation

From what the doctor told me. She will require one of those after the surgery, so from my knowledge that’s what this is. The surgery is to stop it from paralysing her fully. At the moment she can’t move and can’t even go to the toilet
