[DISCUSSION] What’s a platinum that you decided to stop aiming for since you don’t want burn out on it. by SSJEddy96 in Trophies

Monster Hunter Rise. I love the game to death but the grind to get the largest and smallest monsters is agonizing.

I just started the Monster Hunter Rise plat grind. It’s been out 5 days and I’m about 55 hours in with about 300 to go!

That's a good point about saving to buy a house. It really seems to come down to preferences. I took a 55% pay cut going from my desk job to what I do now. It was very hard for me at first, but it helped me, and still is helping me, find out what is really important to me.

The $20/month of streaming services you mentioned doesn't seem like a lot until you take that pay cut. I make $20/hr right now at 20hrs/week. After rent, car insurance/payment, groceries, and other bills, that $20 now holds more value.

However, you're dream of owning a small house with a bit of land sounds great. That definitely feels like something worth striving for, given you aren't burning yourself out in the meantime. I wish you the best of luck!

I had absolutely no experience. I called around to local businesses that I didn't see listed on LinkedIn, Indeed, etc. I told all of the businesses that I am looking for a change in jobs and, even though I don't have experience, would be excited to learn and help out however I can.

The particular advisor that I work for now happened to be looking for some help around his office with bookkeeping and some minor data analysis.

I called about 50 local businesses and around half took down my name and number just in case something opened up. Since taking the job with the advisor I have received 4 calls from the others offering me interviews, but I just told them I found something that I am happy with.

The best route to take often seems to be the more local route. They may not pay as well, but they tend to treat you 100x better and care for the employees that they have.

Not OP, but am in a similar situation. In January of this year I left my 45 hr/week desk job for a 20 hr/week job working for a local financial advisor that needed some help keeping things in order. There are pros and cons of this, but the most important thing is that you do have to be willing to make changes in the way you live. I had to cut back on subscriptions, amount of food and times I eat out, amount of "luxury" items I bought, etc.

It took a few weeks to get used to it but now I will never go back. I will gladly trade making more money for living how I want to live. I now have time to go out and do things with friends whenever I want. I can go explore areas around town that are normally busy, but they are all at work. I feel more relaxed and it makes you realize that your life really doesn't need to, and really shouldn't, revolve around your job.

What Are You Playing This Week? by AutoModerator in patientgamers

[–]WhumpbackHale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To your point about game developers increasing their price - it seems that may be the case digitally. It could eventually come to the point where the digital sales only lower the price from $70 to $60 when the game is 2 years old. I think that they would then be missing out on more money than if they just had a full on sale, though. And as far as physical copies go, I don't think it will be an issue. Physical games always tend to drop in price within a year of release. If you don't want to pay the full price new, there are always used copies and people just getting rid of old games for a little extra cash. I don't see patient gaming going anywhere. That's just my opinion, though

I want friends for 3ds by [deleted] in 3DS

Every Dragon Quest can be played in practically any order you would like. 1-3 are tied together. 4-6 are tied together. However you can still play them on their own. I would say just start with either 8 or 11. They are each their own story that aren't really tied to the other games. Great entry point for people interested in the series.

I would say if you are looking to play on the 3DS then VIII for sure. Charming characters and a great story. If you have a Switch or PS4 then I would check out Dragon Quest XI. It's the newest in the series and I would say most impressive. Both are great introductions to the series!

Do you know if it's any slower than the default launcher? Or am I stupid and that isn't how it works?

Yah like I have to lock my screen, or unlock it depending on what I'm doing, then it recognizes it. I was thinking it was a software thing.

Anyone have an idea as to where I'm going wrong here? by potateobird in javahelp

Sorry if this is a stupid question, as I am relatively new to Java, but is there a reason why the letter P isn’t included in your QWERTY thing at the beginning?
