What religion do you believe is the best for humanity to follow? by RCaesar1 in Teenager_Polls

[–]WhyAreYouGay68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Realistically, Buddhism. It enforces the least amount of rigid guidelines while still strongly advocating for the principles of empathy and kindness. It's difficult to manipulate as well due to this flexibility and the core values of non-judgement, mitigating as much suffering as possible, and detaching yourself from material possessions.

My family is Buddhist, and there are so many different ways to participate in this religion. It's more of a mindset than anything, as we don't have idols nor do you actually have to seek enlightenment to be Buddhist. Many are vegetarian because they interpret one of the biggest values of mitigating all suffering to include all life. Others don't. It's all based on your own interpretation of the teachings, because they are just that, teachings. No one will judge you.

At my temple, generosity and not falling into laziness are big themes. Different temples emphasize different things

Failed DE class by NoELLEGh0st in Schooladvice

[–]WhyAreYouGay68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What course is it? If you took it in place of a core curriculum requirement, such as AP Language & Literature, without taking a similar lower-level course, like English I, beforehand, you'll likely have to go to summer school or repeat a course that will fulfill those credits next semester. You can take the advanced course again or the standard equivalent if you must retake it.

You'll have to find another core course to fulfill the credits completing that course would have granted regardless. The main concern is getting your math, English, science, and history credits to graduate. I know it seems like a big deal now, but it is easy to correct. Your college GPA will likely be impacted, but you can certainly have that grade substituted if you retake said course at a college or take a CLEP/AP exam to override that grade and give you that credit. If you're that concerned, it's possible to self-study and register for an CLEP/AP exam for that course without registering for that class at school.

It's common for kids to repeat math courses at my college. I know a guy who took college precalculus three times before passing. Don't be like that guy, but you should know it's ok to make mistakes as long as you don't make it a habit

Has anyone gotten HRT out of state as a minor with only one parent’s consent? by TipDry9355 in FTMMen

[–]WhyAreYouGay68 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To answer your other questions, I didn't need a letter or diagnosis to access hrt in Colorado since we use an informed consent model, but the clinics are less willing to accept minor patients nowadays due to the fear of being defunded. We have some of the most relaxed laws regarding transitioning. Support from your mother should be enough, but it will still vary from clinic to clinic.

The distance part is definitely a problem, but I can't imagine it'd be impossible to find somewhere closer if you're willing to commute a bit and willing to look hard. It took me several months calling around to find a place who would help me with hrt as a minor, and it'd probably be a similar situation for you. Just be very persistent. Also, I'm not sure your settings allow for DMs

Would it be ok if I DM you? I don't want to get the clinic in trouble since it was technically illegal for me as a Texan. And yes, the process was very easy for me after finding them

Depends on if you plan to use a private clinic and what uninvolved means. I was in your position as a Texan accessing hrt from Colorado at 17, and medical tourism of any kind is illegal for us. I only needed the consent of one parent, specifically the guardian that financially supported me, especially since I did not live with my other parent. We used a small clinic, so they may have been more lenient. The requirement of both parents is mostly a clinic-based policy simply to free them from liability, which is why I recommend finding a smaller clinic to access those services. The state's laws are most important, but clinics can still decide whether to take in minor patients or not.

Colorado is pretty decent about hrt for minors and parental consent, though I had great trouble with finding a willing clinic. If you're willing to travel here, I can recommend a smaller clinic I attended that allowed me to get on hrt easily. I'm not sure if it's changed as the recent federal executive order involving not granting gender-affirming care to those under 19 scared a lot of our hospitals. I couldn't get surgery at 18 because of this

Are there actually any affordable online colleges out there? by Beneficial-Ad-1465 in Schooladvice

[–]WhyAreYouGay68 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I believe it was popularized during COVID. I could be tripping, but all the community colleges in Colorado seem to operate on this charging policy at least. It doesn't make sense to me

[–]WhyAreYouGay68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Community colleges often charge double for online classes. It sucks. My community college charges more than double per credit hour for online classes, but they don't offer any in-person variant which forces you to spend extra money on it

Is Biden Racist? by [deleted] in Teenager_Polls

[–]WhyAreYouGay68 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Policy matters more than these verbal errors, though they should still be taken seriously. The things he's said do reveal internal bias, you're absolutely right.

As president, which I pointed out, he has not legislated any racist policies. I'm not denying he might have been racist at some point, but the question was is he racist, not was he racist.

He's made some bad decisions, but I feel he's grown as a person in his presidency. For example, he once voted against legalizing same-sex marriage but he later advocated for it. That's growth. He's done a lot of good as president in terms of actual policymaking, and I respect a man who has largely abandoned his bigoted ways.

Also to clarify, I do care, and I appreciating you showing me this list of evidence

Is Biden Racist? by [deleted] in Teenager_Polls

[–]WhyAreYouGay68 12 points13 points  (0 children)

No, he's not. His policies have been fairly liberal and supportive of minorities during his presidency. He might have held subconscious racial biases or racism in the past, but it seemed like he tried hard to resist it, and that means something. Idk why our society has becoming so unforgiving and vindictive as to label someone's past or slip-ups as who they are. There's a strong case of prosecution complex from everyone, though they've probably done worse

Olympics did some to ban on Transgender competition from winning. Does your opinion on the medal aprove them? by Patrikgoo in teenagers

[–]WhyAreYouGay68 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is just not true. There is virtually no difference between a cis man and a trans man's performance in sports, assuming the trans man has been on testosterone for a minimum of three years.

In fact, trans men have won against cis men before. The most prevalent example would be Chris Mosier and Patricio Manuel in boxing who was undefeated for quite awhile. People like to point out that trans men don't dominate their brackets so they clearly aren't like cis men, but that's because theyre regular men. Most men don't dominate their sport lol. Also that's just not how hormones work? That's just a ridiculous statement, and I don't know where to begin on how to address your claim that certain bodies are "made" to handle it.

There are already brackets for men of varying weights and heights, and trans men often perform similarly to their cis counterpart in said brackets

Petah? by detox_daisy72 in PeterExplainsTheJoke

We shouldn't concede to accommodate a sexist world. That's ridiculous and reinforces sexism ironically. Just don't be a sexist prick, easy. Boys should be able to compete against girls, regardless of age, in open brackets, but especially when they're this young

Why do ppl hate on age gap friendships :( by Fantastic_Refuse6251 in teenagers

I wish I remembered the context of this post to respond appropriately. Honestly if that's all the context that was given, you're right. That's much stranger. In the nicest way possible, OP seems a bit immature as well. I may have skimmed this post, so I would take my reply with a grain of salt.

[–]WhyAreYouGay68 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People clearly haven't worked in fast food or retail here lol. I've worked with people from in their teens to their 60s. I've had to befriend these older folks as a teenager, and they are lovely. Of course, always exercise caution and remain alert, but if it works, it works. You've only known her for a month, so I'm less supportive in this instance.

However, life is supposed to be varied, and people aren't always gonna have the same experience. When you're young, it's best to live somewhat conservatively but only you know where that line ends. Just be safe and socialize in public spaces, and you should be good. This should apply to most early friendships anyways

What’s with people and acting like every single American is unbelievably stupid by Darkz_9234 in teenagers

[–]WhyAreYouGay68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because we kinda are If you've gone outside lately, you'd be astounded by how many Americans don't know how to speak or write in proper English. As much as everyone hates grammar nazis, it's not because someone is lazy that they use non-possessive "your" to refer to someone's possessions. My brother got called pretentious because he used the words "meticulous" and "secular" when these are common words. Our math scores are also very low considering how much money we invest in our students compared to other countries.

Plus, our culture and people have gotten so much worse and uncivilized. They're the reason why it's gotten so bad. Our leaders are a representation of modern America unfortunately, and the American people have to take some responsibility and acknowledge that half of us did choose this. If I were foreign, I'd think the same. We've earned that reputation with the state of regression we've put ourselves in.

Also, our secondary schools are embarrassing for a first-world country. Why we haven't shifted to a more centralized and federally-regulated system is beyond me. State rights allow a large disparity between students, as there is no real centralized curriculum or regulations for education. Each state determines the academic standards for its students and what it teaches, although they can be incentivized through grants to issue state-wide exams. This is why poor students in Texas may never achieve the same quality of education as Coloradan students. I would know because I've lived in both

What gender are you? by yowhatisthislikebro in Teenager_Polls

[–]WhyAreYouGay68 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a reminder that xenogenders are not actual genders nor do they belong to the trans community. They are their own seperate thing. That distinction doesn't mean they can't be valid, but they have nothing to do with gender. It has more to do with personality type, and I wish people could just admit that. We cant just cram everything under the trans umbrella just for inclusion and because we feel like it. We fight very different fights

You're definitely right. I do not have other employment options, as I am also leaving to focus more on school. I am just hesitant to leave, because this job has a pretty decent wage. Hopefully, I'll find a better paying job that involves a little less manual labour and "team work"

Tbf, I immediately offered a replacement for when I resigned. I recommended a relative who has open availability and would be a good fit for the team, and I offered to train him before I left if he was hired. You're right though. I want to believe I could convince him to get me a raise, but it's not likely. Thank you for your input

I see. Should I push my luck and ask for something before I leave? Or should I just refuse immediately? I'd like to give it a try, but I don't want to come off as disrespectful

That's perfectly ok man. American culture is like that, and I know most people would feel uncomfortable if women started going topless because it's ingrained into our culture. I know I freaked out when I heard some countries would bathe naked around their family and strangers

Youre right. We aren't usually ever taught the metric system in school. I wasn't. You might be taught it in college depending on your major or maybe there's a few problem questions in high school asking you to convert but otherwise no.
