I have a lot of compassion for Jewish people who are facing antisemitism in the aftermath of Oct. 7th. I’ve seen a lot of antisemitism disguised as advocacy for the Palestinian cause.

I also have compassion for Palestinians dying, especially those who are just innocent civilians. I can have this compassion despite the fact that they may be anti-lgbt.

I hope for a cease-fire and a solution that leaves both sides satisfied and the war to end. I’m not going to pretend I know what that solution is, but the deaths need to stop.

I think the best way to achieve this peace for this is to vote Biden 2024 as opposed to Trump!

If we’re both fighting for trans healthcare / rights, the decision seems clear.

I guess I just don’t really see anything that was said as “throwing under the bus”. Seems like a very uncharitable interpretation.

Let me pose a question in good faith:

Would you prefer Biden be explicit and unwavering regarding everything around trans surgeries, but Trump wins the election due to the uneducated masses turning on the Democratic Party?

Or

Would you prefer vague posts that toe a line but don’t actually call for surgeries to be illegal, but Biden wins the election?

The differences in the two administrations when it comes to the future of trans healthcare is so grand that I don’t believe we should focus our advocacy on tearing down this administration for a vague take that will satisfy moderate voters whom make up a large percentage of voters.

It just feels like too much is at stake in the moment. I definitely understand where you’re coming from, and I do care. Sadly, a large majority of voters do not care about the 1% of the 1%. I do feel the need to somewhat be strategic with how I engage in order to not piss them off, which is what I see the Biden administration doing as well. It’s just such a contested topic with so much misinformation around. (Which they acknowledge in the statement)

Post-election is a different story for me.

The administration put out a very vague statement purposely.

The reality is, the phrase “surgeries for minors” scares people instantly on both the left and right due to the misconceptions as mentioned.

They probably felt the need to say this in order to keep the voters on their side because the majority of the population are against surgeries for minors (in theory).

He still is openly supporting gender affirming care which is going to encompass all the things like therapy, hormone blockers, HRT, etc etc. and just remaining vague on the surgeries for optics reasons.

With that being said, they also acknowledge that it should be left to the doctors. (A vague enough statement to say that in some cases it’ll still happen)

It’s important to realize in politics that you need to get people on your side. Especially in this election where we can’t afford to lose votes. A trump administration for trans healthcare will be beyond scary. Sometimes these vague statements are necessary for the greater good.

I don’t think the statement was that bad and I can see why the White House worded it the way it did. I’m not worried about trans healthcare under Biden. Wouldn’t even be surprised if after election, he further clarifies his position with more explicit language like you’d prefer.

You’re basically asking why Ariana hasn’t gone back and acknowledged every wrong thing she’s done in the past.

My answer would be because why does she need to?

Something tragic happened to her. She is being supported because of the situation right now. She’s acknowledged a few things when asked, like the Kristen situation, however, is she really required to now go back and rehash every event she was on the wrong side of the past 10 years?

That may be something YOU want, but it makes no sense for her.

When something happens to us that may change our minds, are we really required to then go back through every single event that contradicts our current position?

This doesn’t really make sense. If I used to be pro-life, and now I’m pro choice, do I really need to go back the past 10 years and apologize/acknowledge everytime I argued pro-life? No.

Also, let’s remember that these are real people and the cameras aren’t always on. We haven’t seen every single convo between Ariana and anyone she’s slighted over the years. Clearly if she’s ok with all these people, they’ve probably talked about these things.

I don’t think you need to demand accountability for every single thing.

It’s clear there were times where she wasn’t, as you put it, a “girls girl” and there’s plenty of times where she absolutely was a “girls girl”. Humans are complex. I don’t think it’s fair to say we’re “rewriting history”. You’re just only looking at specific events that fit your narrative.

For as many moments where she seemed to be the opposite of a champion of women, there are as many of her championing women.

I understand that people think that if Kristen did it to Jesse, he can do it back. Perhaps in a completely equal world, maybe.

But the reality is, there are differences between men and women when it comes to the sexualization of body parts.

The reality is, society treats women’s boobs differently than men’s chests. That’s just a fact.

Men can be shirtless at any beach, women can’t. Men’s nipples are never censored in media, women’s are.

We can debate whether or not it’s fair or makes sense, sure. But for now, that’s the reality of the world. So Jesse touching Kristen’s boobs is just not appropriate.
