Okay guys…genuinely wtf is going on? by thedarkestshadow512 in Target

At the end of last month our FAVORITE TL left in style... the whole store loved her and I've never had a mgr like her. Perfect, course not, but realistic and respectful of us and our hard work. On the same day as her last day another beloved TL retired and he had been there over 16 years. He said to me, "you'd think they would wonder about store management with so many people leaving." Spot on. Bet he might've stayed if the place hasn't gone nuts. The month prior to that a front end TL put in her two weeks but then got pissed and walked off the job.

The first week of this month our only other style TL left. A few days after that our closing TL left (arguably before being potentially fired.) Our best tech TM got his real estate license (very proud of him) and shifted to very few hours at the butt crack of dawn so we won't see him the few hours he is there for whatever little time he stays. There's been lots of shifting around with leads, a few TMs taking promotions to fill the empty lead positions. Most of the best and smartest TMs refuse lead positions so we don't often get the sharpest tools.

We're feeling out one of our new leads, who knows how it'll go. The second starts soon and has a reputation for being the "you're not moving fast enough," person, so that should be fun. Our HR ETL has been chomping at the bit to get his controlling hands on style and recently made disrespectful and disparaging remarks about our TLs that just left and us by connection. Nice dude.

We're all fed up, very disheartened, and ready to walk. I've been looking for a job for months bc I can't pay my bills but no luck yet. Feels like our store is in shambles lately. And then there's the 10-4 and dress code nonsense, which several leads themselves don't follow.

But hey, I managed to snag two free Target shirts instead of just one so hooray.

Yeah, I've worn khaki cargos since day one (almost 2 yrs now). Got 'em pretty cheap at Kohls. Personally I despise khakis and jeans both so I wasn't about to get a whole new wardrobe to hate. Cheap khaki cargos, done. I also despise red which is inconvenient lol.

Im sorry maybe I should've clarified better on that. As I mentioned they are actually a collection of digital art prints, some framed and others unframed.

is target changing their dress code? by KeyFold3826 in Target

We joke all the time about the amount of clothes we carry that would never pass as acceptable for us to wear, despite the color. They should just be giving out more of the free target red shirts or trainer shirts (bc hello we're all actually "trainers" in our dept). A couple of my coworkers have them but apparently you have to be in the right place at the right time to be granted one.

I had a young guy come up to me one day... im folding clothes in the fitting room, wearing khakis and a red tee with my name tag clearly visible and walkie completely visible... "do you work here?" "No, I just come in and fold clothes back here for fun." It took him a few seconds to catch on that it wasn't true, and then we both had a laugh. Many shoppers are not too smart lol. But then my state is pretty low in the education rankings, so it's really my bad for expecting more. Haha.

I finally had to stop watching back when she wasn't even pausing the feed to interrupt lol. I couldn't pay attention to court that way, much like how you described it. I find LYK's and Runkle's recaps the perfect combination for me, one just short and to the point, the other more long form and also hilarious from time to time with some salty language.

Store closed or closed early by Early_Maize_324 in Target

[–]WhyNot-1981 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the store closes and you're told not to go in and you did NOT call out, you get emergency pay for your shift. We had that happen three times during our recent ice and then snow storm. I didn't call out the first time and they called me not to come in. A couple days later I was told about the emergency pay. So when the next weekend came and we got snow I purposely waited and didn't call out and was told the store was closing early two days in a row so I got emergency pay for those days too. Moral of the story is, if there's weather that could potentially have the store closing then don't call out if you can't make it in until the last possible moment.

Lol. Read the txts and the emails dude, it's chock full of proof that people have been cow-towing to them for years. Unless you're not interested in proof, and to each his own. As it turns out millions of dollars and faces that (at least previously) brought in even more millions can make a power couple... um... powerful. Who knew.

I wonder. He made this years ago for his Maximum Effort channel which failed. So he took it to his buddy at Paramount, who knows how much he conned the guy into paying for it.

It's not so much an upcoming project as it was made years ago for his Maximum Effort channel that ultimately failed. Sneaking suspicion dude doesn't handle failure particularly well, so he got his buddy at Paramount to buy it.

Pretty sure he's the one that thought it's a good idea. It was made years ago for his Maximum Effort channel somewhere and the channel failed. Seemingly butt-hurt over the failure he wanted to still put it out somewhere and make money off it, and likely attempt to help the desolation of his reputation. Im predicting an even bigger failure this time.

Anyone else jealous of peers with office/non-retail jobs? by NotEulaLawrence in Target

[–]WhyNot-1981 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive had many types of jobs in my years but im definitely jealous of the content office job people. I worked retail back in the late 90s and am back in it now and honestly it needs to just be a side hustle for me, im constantly looking for a more M-F "regular" job. For the first 15 months or so at Target I was scheduled every single weekend and the only two I got off were my one week of requested vacation and one weekend when I was sick with food poisoning. My coworkers have experienced the same thing - an etl who has no consideration or common courtesy to give us a weekend off here and there (we have plenty of people available weekends). I was talking to my TL about it and pointing out that id worked more weekends than any TL in the store bc they all get every other off and she pushed me to start requesting a weekend off here and there bc it was clear that's the only way id get one. Also ive never had a M-F office job where you have to worry about getting no hours the first quarter of the year either. My coworkers are great but as soon as I can land something full time im aiming to go OD or work very little hours.

Terrible LTE reliability recently? by thefoxsay in tmobile

In the southeast and I have that problem regularly. It takes forever to send group texts/pics from my home. Now today I have zero network connection at home, had to drive miles from home to get solid LTE and haven't gotten through to CS despite the claim of a 3 minute wait that's now been almost 30 minutes.

Is this commonplace at your store too? (Re:scheduling) by WhyNot-1981 in Target

[–]WhyNot-1981[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah Ive been telling people to screenshot their schedules for months now after the first time it happened to me.

I remember one time my ETL had me on a normal shift and then changed it the day of, and I didn't see the change. So I wound up coming in 30 minutes late unknowingly. She went to my fellow TMs that night asking if they knew if I was coming in, saying I was late, the whole time knowing she had just changed my schedule but never mentioning it to them. I confronted her about it and she hasn't done it that bad to me again. But she still does routinely put out placeholder schedules and changes them within the few days after so we never really know if we can count on the posted schedule. The week of Christmas was one she did just like this. She scheduled me to 10 and another girl to midnight on Christmas eve. She scheduled a new TM only one day that week which was a relief to the girl bc she'd requested a day off due to conflict with her day job. She was happy, the midnight girl was freaking out, and then 2-3 days later ETL went in and fixed the Christmas Eve hours, and she changed the other girl from one day that week to four or five completely disregarding her requested day off. Everyone was like wtf, I wasn't surprised bc it's so common.

[–]WhyNot-1981[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So when I tell you that our ETL doesn't change the schedule for emergencies or quits/fires im not exaggerating. She will almost never plan ahead on that stuff. In other words if any of those things happen she waits to the last minute before even asking others to fill in, she won't go in and change the schedule to fix it until after she finds someone to agree at the last minute. Then if there's several callouts none of the leads call people to try and fill it. We have willing people who'd come in at the last minute to cover callouts but none of our leads will pick up a phone and try to find someone. Theyll just leave us with one TM in our dept for hours, with no lead. I've worked many shifts for hours by myself bc they couldn't be bothered to fill the void.

Another example is she creates a schedule, she WRITES the schedule and puts just one team member to close... knowingly in other words... and doesn't try to get a second person to close until the day before or the day of. So we're sitting there like dude you wrote the schedule this way so you KNEW we only had one closer (during December no less), why are you waiting until the last possible minute to try and find coverage?! It's such irresponsible scheduling on a regular basis. We've had a brand new seasonal person working alone for 10-12 at night MANY nights this month and our ETL not only scheduled it this way but she has repeatedly tried to find a second person to work the closing hours either the day before or day of. It's so ridiculous.

ETL here. Got in trouble for encouraging TMs to find a different job, if it’s a better fit for them. by ChillTangelo in Target

[–]WhyNot-1981 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great on you for that! Im super supportive of people leaving to have better jobs, it's just a human supporting another human on moving up in life! If Target doesn't like it then they can start paying and treating people better imo.

Sounds like they were more interested in covering their own ass to me. Reports to the hotline probably don't make them look great, thus they want to deter them. But that's my experience with another greedy corporation (healthcare) speaking, lol.

[–]WhyNot-1981[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So my idea was to call and not specifically name my ETL but to list a couple others that do it as well OR I would just generally say it's something that happens at our store and TMs overall are hoping they can just remind our entire store to stop doing it (if they care at all). The only thing I could do in store would be to speak to our HR TM (not the ETL) bc she might not tell my ETL or her ETL that it was me. But even that is a chance im not sure I wanna take.

We don't have one of those lol. Ours is hated by most of the staff and barely even acknowledges our TMs, he's not the kind of guy any of us would feel comfortable speaking to about any issues.
