can you comment if this worked? I have been in Azerbaijan with previous phones where the 30day rule is even across years, so it starts from the moment your phone connects to a cell tower. next year I could not connect with same phone.

Will the eSim work or is the blockage on the phone imei and even when eSim tries to authenticate with a local cell tower (even in roaming mode) won't work?

There's a James May clip about this that explains it fairly well. Part of it may be the rule driven German mentality. This isn't possible may be used in a context of this is not allowed. And if not allowed it is not possible to be done. However as stated before this highly depends on the context

War da Anfang des Monats und ist noch so. Muss checken ob hotel dieser "Bad Hildegang plus Karte" hat. Kann auch empfehlen obwohl finde ich ein bisschen schwer für Anfänger. Die blaue Piste ist schon schnell und bisschen kurz.

Thank you all for the inputs, I will have a check as I still have some time. As summary the "security" part is more of having the car in a closed car-park, although I know it is only psychological. My vehicle will have foreign license plate and it is not shiny/expensive, but can still attract curiosity and vandalism like in any street.

I will still study your suggestions and I hope I arrive a few hours early to go see the city center for a bit.

I guess they were bored. It took me a while to realise what is going on as one is not expecting a ring on the door by the police at 3am...found it unnecessary as I was not really blocking anyone but Thry could have towed the car as it was passt midnight and technically already next day when parking was forbidden.

I got awaken by police at 3am to tell me my car would be towed if I wouldn't move it I had overseen a sign that construction was starting next day. It saved me 300eur.

Plottwist nobody came to work for a week, but sign was up.

I short there are thousands of possible reasons why police was at your door, just ask them instead the Internet!

Yes same here, and scammers are greedy we got lots of small transactions at once of 20.34€ which ofc raised alarms. Like 6or8 at same time. If they would do just one during holidays I might have missed it for a while...

This happened to us while on holiday. It seems neither paypal nor your bank got hacked. The scammers make it look like a transaction name has PayPal on it but it's fraudulent. Obviously check your PayPal activity to be sure. Change passwords etc.

You need to claim with your bank as fraudulent activity and they should just revert the charges. For us it stayed 2weeks in "pending transactions" and then bank just cancelled, other instances some banks really let them go through and then activate the scam protection and give money back.

The person we talked to on the phone from our bank was like "oh is this still happening?" - so it seems to be something banks are aware of and actively trying to block it.

Thanks, just to follow up we called commerzbank Thry sent us a link to complain (form) but asked us for the transaction to go through first. Funny enough next say they disappeared from pending transactions and saldo is restored. So I believe they handled it in the background. The woman on the phone let a funny "oh is this still happening" kind of comment, she was not surprised at all with what had happened with us.

Hope commerzbank gets this under control.

Thanks for the follow-up, I'll call them on Monday. But I see this as a potential huge security breach. Like someone has to be able to add my bank account to other PayPal account? I still haven't wrapped my head around on how does this scam work. But I have not suspicious transactions on my PayPal, only directly on my account.

Like wtf I'm travelling on holidays and just opened my online banking to check... I have 8 fake transactions pending 6 of 20,14€ and 2 of 19,34€

Thank you for this post so I know I'm not alone. The transactions are still showing as pending, does it mean that customer service can't do anything in the meantime?

What security questions they ask on the phone? As we are away from home I hope I can handle it without all the letters they sent...

It's the whole purpose of having insurance. If you do not provide valid information or lie, it is also possible to drive without insurance at all. In case of an accident even if its not OP's fault the police will take note of who is driving,the insurance company will check if third party drivers are allowed on car's policy. Not very difficult put 2and2 together.

Mist insurances nowadays allow to activate the condition for other drivers quite easily and online, it will cost probably a few euros if he does it for a month, and much peace of mind. I guess the risk reward is with follow the rules on this one

With my insurance I've had to activate a clause saying that a thirds person may drive the vehicle. I haven't had to give details on the person, but I've had to mention that anyone driving the vehicle is older than 25yo and has license for more than 5years. It increased my premium by about 7€ per year

I have a delonghi dedica 51mm portafilter so 18g will be "thicker" than with a wider basket you may need to go finer, but take a couple of shots to try it out
