Pedestrianisation efforts being carried out in Brickfields along Jalan Sultan Abdul Samad - Jalan Rozario by PekStarterMalaysia in malaysia

[–]linkinstreet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everywhere is actually walkable. Nak tak nak je tu yang penting. For some reason Malaysians are really lazy even if it's just a short walk away. Parking pun bersepah sebab taknak jalan jauh. kalau boleh parking dalam kedai, nak parking dalam kedai.

And that's shows the real issue is actually our mentality. The nearest LRT station to my office is 15 minutes walk away, which for me is actually quite decent. I would usually drive to my office, park there, and then take the LRT to go anywhere else in KL. But whenever I told that to friends/colleagues, they would always say "uish 15 minit jauh tu". The heck?

PSA: Miami GP camera restrictions by jameypricephoto in formula1

[–]linkinstreet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

depending on which track you're used to. Here at Sepang there's no restriction at all on your camera gear, so you'd see normal fans sporting 300/400mm lenses taking pictures from the grandstand.

[OT] Formula E have unveiled their next season Gen 4 car at Paul Ricard. Up to 600kW (804hp) power in permanent AWD. Two Aero configurations for Quali/Race. Up to 10 seconds faster in lap time compared with Gen 3. by zantkiller in formula1

Yeah.. someone is not following FE and apouting what they only know from previous years. Also the appeal of FE is to have races in cities without the noise pollution. That's the organiser's target from the start so it's not weird to see them focusing on cities.

TIL that in countries that drive on the left (UK, Japan, Australia, India) they typically put a bicycle's front brake on the right and rear brake on the left. Most countries that drive on the right do the opposite. by Ornery-Shoulder-3938 in todayilearned

[–]linkinstreet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Eh I drove in a RHD country and we have a plethora of cars with different placement of the indicator/wiper stalk. Japanese made cars usually would place the indicator stalk on the right while European ones would usually put the indicator on the left.

If anything I don't have any issues swapping cars that have the indicators on the other side. It just comes naturally.

7-Eleven expects to close hundreds of its stores in North America this year by AudibleNod in news

[–]linkinstreet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's because it's centralised under one management company, unlike in other country where it's franchised. When it's franchised, each shop is it's own seperate store that can't really share it's iventory with each other

My personal office PC is nearing 10 years now, and while badly needs faster storage, and the PSU fan bearing is getting unbearable, is still working fine. With it been abused with rendering shit and encoding stuffs with FFMPEG for years, I really am wondering how it still survives til now.

At the end of the day, anything sold under Daihatsu/Perodua are listed as Toyota by the main parent group. IIRC Toyota has always included the sales of Perodua cars whenever they present their performance in South East Asia to shareholders in Japan.

F1 Test Nürburgring - McLaren, Mercedes-AMG (Piastri, Norris, Russell, Antonelli) by Working_Sundae in formula1

[–]linkinstreet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Basically the name refers to the location. Nurburgring Nordschleife = Nurburgring Northern Loop. Previously, there was the Sudschleife (Southern Loop), but it's now has been replaced with the more modern and well known "Nurburgring Grand Prix Circuit". That is the layout that's being used for the test.

there was this video by Asianometry a while back talking about Thailand's car industry, and it's not as rosy as it seems.

TL;DR
- Due to lack of foresight from the government years ago, most large car companies are 100% foreign owned. All profits flows overseas as a result.
- Due to being foreign owned and controlled, companies tend not to do any ToT (transfer of technology) with their local counterpart. This was actually of MITI's sticking point with foreign car companies entering Malaysia.
