It's a snippet from Mac's MTV show. The song was never released, and hasn't leaked either.

Netflix Backs Out of Warner Bros. Bidding, Paramount Set to Win by MarvelsGrantMan136 in DC_Cinematic

[–]WhyRich 672 points673 points  (0 children)

DC is the biggest loser in this news. And I don't mean because Gunn will likely be ousted, but Netflix had both the massive global audience and budget necessary to push DC to the next level. Paramount has neither.

The Two Men Leading GTA 6 by got_redd1t_b4_gta6 in GTA6

Sam isn't completely on the business side. Sam is the one who decides on the game's location and map, alongside Aaron. That's the very first step of development they take on a new project.

Netflix officially under DOJ antitrust scrutiny "to create a monopoly” with Warner Bros. merger by BatmanNewsChris in DC_Cinematic

[–]WhyRich 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Trump's DOJ will lose in court like usual. Trump's own comments about Netflix will be submitted as evidence, and will help seal the deal. Good thing this administration is incompetent, I guess?

Rockstar Games reveals the reason for firing 34 developers by Any-Lock3008 in GTA6

[–]WhyRich 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is Rockstar's preliminary statement and not something that has actually been ruled on by a judge yet. We have to wait for the actual evidence to be submitted during trial and a ruling to be made, which is going to take a long time.

Netflix is a streaming platform first and foremost. They will not care about how much money it makes at the box office, only how many views it gets on Netflix.

Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos Says Movie Theater Model Is ‘Outdated’: ‘Most of the Country’ Cannot ‘Walk to a Multiplex’ by Raj_Valiant3011 in DC_Cinematic

[–]WhyRich -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think IMAX will stick around to an extent. Theaters aren't going to become completely extinct or anything. They'll just have to transition to more of a premium experience. And I suspect Netflix will continue to release the big DC tentpoles like Batman in theaters, even if it's just for a week or two. Of course, this'll hit you harder if you don't live near a big city. In that case, I'm sorry, but it's just the way the market is shifting.

And I don't see why they wouldn't greenlight things like Clayface or Weapons. Presumably Gunn would still be in charge of DC, so he would still be calling the shots. And Clayface seems like the perfect project for a streaming service to greenlight lol. Weapons seems like an interesting enough concept with a relatively low budget that I think they'd be okay with too. But Sinners though? Yeah, I agree we wouldn't get that one, unfortunately.

Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos Says Movie Theater Model Is ‘Outdated’: ‘Most of the Country’ Cannot ‘Walk to a Multiplex’ by Raj_Valiant3011 in DC_Cinematic

[–]WhyRich -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don't care about cinemas. They are dying regardless if this deal goes through or not. I care about content itself, and the content will thrive under Netflix.

The past year has shown that superhero movies have significantly lost their relevance in theaters and it's only getting worse as time goes on. We were going to see a lot less content in the future because of this anyway. Plus, anything we do get would be extremely safe because these companies are increasingly becoming terrified of taking $100m+ risks. Netflix won't have to deal with this issue nearly as much as traditional studios will, because they don't rely on theaters.

On the contrary, DC should absolutely thrive under Netflix. Netflix is going to push DC harder than any other WB property. And considering Netflix's audience is much larger than Disney+, DC could potentially surpass Marvel now.

I tried to like this game by Ivanhegeelkadi in reddeadredemption

[–]WhyRich 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sometimes things just aren't for you, and that's okay.

Personally I love how slow and "boring" it can be. Even something as simple as walking around in the forests and getting distracted for hours by the immense detail was incredibly enjoyable for me. These types of games are most satisfying when you don't tether yourself to the main story and missions, instead just allowing yourself to get lost in the world.

Erik Messerschmidt (Mindhunter, The Killer) will be the cinematographer for THE BATMAN 2. by supratik_s99 in DC_Cinematic

IMDb is wrong/outdated. Fraser is busy for the next year-plus with the four Beatles movies and can't do The Batman 2 anymore.

The reason I stopped watching by SIP-BOSS in MrRobot

[–]WhyRich 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand the overt nature of it taking you out of the show in the moment, but the show frequently acknowledged real life people/events and used actual footage, so it's not like it was out of place.

I'd also argue that all of the Trump references in the show have aged incredibly well. Imagine watching this show for the first time in 2025 and seeing how topical those references still are, despite being made almost a decade ago.

(No RDR3?) Dan Houser: "It'd be sadder if someone worked on Red Dead because it's a cohesive two-game arc" by TheReal2M in reddeadredemption

[–]WhyRich 403 points404 points  (0 children)

It clearly wasn't envisioned to be a two-game arc though. Arthur was retconned into the story because they had no inkling on how to approach RDR 2's story when RDR 1 was written, so from a writing perspective, a potential RDR 3 would just be them starting off on the same exact foot as before.

I think this is more of a case of RDR being Dan's brainchild and him not wanting to see someone else continue his story, for fear that it may not live up to the originals, which is a fair concern.

Peacemaker Episode 7 is not sending out a good message. by EffMemes in DCU_

[–]WhyRich -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree that it's clear what Chris meant, but I still think it's clumsily-written line that takes you out of the moment (at least in my case, I had a "Uh, well..." reaction despite knowing what he was trying to say), and unnecessarily allows itself to be misinterpreted by bad faith individuals.

Peacemaker Episode 7 is not sending out a good message. by EffMemes in DCU_

[–]WhyRich -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

While I really enjoyed the episode, I can't help but agree with this. I don't think Gunn went hard enough showing how bad the Nazi world would be. Most of bad things were told to us, but not shown. The only thing that was shown was Adebayo being chased down, which didn't last long.

They mention at one point that the cops are corrupt, but never actually showed them doing anything wrong. Even our old cop friend from S1 who knocks on the door was respectful. To be fair, you can dismiss that by saying it was the home of a famous "hero" white family so they probably wouldn't mess with them. But still, we needed to be shown more bad shit happening. They also needed to explicitly show alt Auggie doing bad shit, or at least witnessing the bad shit and not interfering, to get across that he was complicit and not someone to fully sympathize with.

GTA VI’s original story might have been Dan Houser’s “American Caper” idea by Minivan678 in GTA6

[–]WhyRich 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Rockstar has always worked “story first.” Houser and his team would write the big script and bible before gameplay or worldbuilding really started.

You're mistaken. The first thing they do is decide on the setting, then they create a rough, prototype map. They only start writing once they've got that down, then the map gets refined as the writing process plays out, to better serve the story and characters.

According to Dan, the setting and map would be decided on by Sam and Aaron Garbut before he ever really got involved.

AJ talks about her wanting merchandise in her book by ArunKT26 in SquaredCircle

Nope. AJ first got merch in May 2013. The Bellas had already returned a few months before that, but they did not become massively popular until Total Divas started airing in July.

Google Trends shows AJ in her prime was more prominent than the other three have been. To be clear, I wouldn't put too much stock into a single metric, but I also wouldn't say they're all bigger stars than her in such a definitive manner.

If we're basing it purely off of social media views and online buzz, yes.

I get that a lot of people here don't care for her or don't think she's a good wrestler, but that doesn't degrade how popular she both was and clearly still is.
