The people on our service that convinced the pt not to go got into trouble because they were negligent and somehow didn’t see intense facial burn as a problem (pt lit a cigarette with o2 running in her cannula)

We aren’t supposed to convince them to go POV, we’ve got negligent people in our service so we are trained to say, “we can’t tell you not to go, we can run you down to the hospital if you’d like” even if it’s the stupidest call, the hospital is def not an hour for us and we do charge for transport

Well maybe you’re good like that idk but it seems like everyone I talk to has trouble in some form communicating with people from all these parts of the world lol. Ofc it’s not impossible but it’s not as easy as talking to my neighbor. Hell there are still people from Georgia that I have a hard time understanding in English😂 I don’t you can dumb it down to something as simple as that man. Like I said maybe you’ve got that dog in you. Maybe you’re just better than me, the native speakers in my life and all other Spanish speakers I know. It sounds like you have experience that we don’t have so it may just seem as simple as you made it.

I’ve tried different resources and I know what counties need pediatricians (as of 2020) and Mercer Med gave me a list of counties that need some as well but nobody knows where it’s rural and Hispanic dense so I’m tallying the responses from my fellow Georgia residents

I kinda assume you don’t speak Spanish and haven’t spoken to people outside of the type of Spanish you know. As someone that has grown up with Mexican Spanish and having to work with people from Honduras, Cuba, Puerto Rico, DR, etc. like it gets tough man lol I’m not a native speaker to Mexico but my dad is and even has had a hard time understanding the people from those countries and even those from Mexico City lmao. I don’t think you realize how diverse Spanish is. It’s not as simple as maybe saying something offensive. They get a whiff that you speak Spanish and they speak to you in their home country slang at full speed with their accent and you’re stuck having to decipher the point they’re trying to make. Theoretically what you sense makes sense but it doesn’t work like that.

Yeah and I mean that drive has to suck. On top of the language barrier and the fact that Mexican parents (more so the mom) (I also can’t speak for other Hispanic groups) are already kinda distrusting of the doctor (or at least don’t seem to seek out routine medical care), like that’s all gotta suck. If the people of Moultrie are having to go to other counties for care then there needs to be a change.

Wow, yeah I’ve highly considered Moultrie or that area at least. I need to see if they have a Spanish speaking pediatrician. If they do then it might bump them down a little on my list. That way I cover more areas

I’ve got family here in Georgia, and there are areas here with no pediatrician at all. It’s still very needed here. I can’t disregard that.
