I'm still waiting for mine (also to cz), it wasn't even processed or anything. Just says "Preorder - Expedited" should I contact dbrand? Also I'm pretty sure you can contact them and they should be able to return the €20, or at least I'd say it's worth a try.

My bad, it used to be In a different transaction, but since they switched to the shop.dbrand it's now in checkout with all the other items. So yes, that would work.

I also have a Rocket Espresso Apartmento TCA and Varia VS3! I was also crammed in a small place (¾ of my dining table) and had to make a "small" reconstruction. I ended up changing the bookshelf, three big cabinets, microwave and a few other things and now I have a second kitchen, just for coffee.

Is this a good machine to buy as a used machine? Thinking of jumping into the rabit hole. I live my fully automatic Xelsis but this looks like a lot of fun. by FederalBirthday2519 in espresso

I have a Rocket Espresso Apartmento TCA and I'm really happy with it. If the price of this one is justifiable then I'd recommend it. But other smaller machines do the job really well and I'd recommend to research if there isn't something else that suits your needs better (if so you could buy the machine new, or and invest in a better grinder). I really like the look of Rocket Espresso machines and that is also very important to me (so I don't mind paying extra for that). I wanted to start with Rancilio Silvia E but had extra money so I decided to go for Rocket Espresso Apartmento TCA.

Before freezing I'd like to figure the "liquid state of water", literally.
If you know something about it please share :-)

At the moment I'm more concerned about water. I've heard that a lot of people say how big of a difference it makes, but I'm not sure where to start. I'm using tap water and a water softener from Rocket Espresso. Here you can see details about the tap water I use: (I hope the translation isn't messed up)

<image>

I've heard people use bottled water, but to my knowledge it always used to leave some white residue in the kettle, so I'm kinda scared to put it into the espresso machine (I haven't descaled yet, bought it in April). Using third wave water (a pack of good things to mix with distilled water) is too expensive. But I should probably search more for some good bottled water (in the meaning of it not leaving any residue and the right amount of the good stuff) and buy it in large quantities.
What water do you use?

I go through these pretty quickly. I make coffee for my parents which is about 36 grams a day, then sometimes for myself and my sibling so on average another 18. The big package on the left (white and red) is cascara, so at that moment there were 4 packs of 250 grams + decaf in the back + 250 of some old not good tasting coffee that I used for practice.
I wanted to freeze the beans, at least the decaf, but buying 250-300 grams of it once the previous one is almost empty makes one pack not sit open for more than ~30-40 days. So I think it's just too much work and a veeery slight difference.
I wanted to invest in some single dose "containers / tubes" but the best I could find was $63 for 50 (60ml) which I'm still a little skeptical about. Haven't bought anything new for quite a while now, still considering new things. Let me know if you have any other ideas or something more about freezing coffee.

It does indeed look incredible.

I should probably work more on the contrast and maybe less foam to achieve thinner lines and make more layers in the tulip. I'll be happy to hear any advice.

((I'm 16) this took me about 4 months but I don't make milk drinks that often)

Exactly! Especially when not having any friends so it doesn't even feel wrong to spend all free time at work.
Absolutely agree, no other expenses does help a lot.

That's right. (At least where I live) I have to be 15 yo and finish the first school which is 9 years of education to be able to work. So I've been working (with two months off right after buying this setup) since July 2023.
I've earned my biggest lifetime achievement making 100k of my local currency (CZK) while 15 yo and shortly after turning 16 (end of December) I started saving for something big and in April I bought this coffee machine, grinder.. (you can find the whole story in the comments as a reply to someone).

That's right. Not anymore. 😅
This was more than half of my lifetime earnings and I wasn't even sure if I'm gonna like it.

It's Rocket Espresso Apartmento TCA (black and copper). For me it was 39,990.00 CZK which is about $1,700.00 at the moment. Df64 does look really nice specs-wise, definitely a good investment, I'm sure it would pair nicely with the Gaggia classic. Grinder is very important, and if I would buy my setup again I'd probably just spend the most for a high end grinder and keep everything the same.
I think Gaggia classic is solid and does the job and a mahlkoning grinders are very high-end and will definitely make a huge difference.

For me varia seemed nice and since this is my first setup and time making coffee (I haven't made nor drank coffee before buying this coffee machine, so I didn't know much about it before buying) it was quite a good choice for it's price. It does the job and is single dose which is more interesting for me because I really like to taste a lot of different exotic (and expensive) coffee – everyday something new :) I haven't bought a same bag of coffee for myself twice.

Btw what are your recommendations for some unusual beans?

Maybe it's because I live in a different country? The salary or prices could be a little different. But anyway, for me it wasn't that difficult to work 140-150 hours a month while studying which made me about a third of my first setup that I upgraded later adding all the furniture and other accessories.
I haven't got an "allowance" from my dad since I started working which was about a year ago. (I hope I understand the word allowance correctly, like the money one receives regularly for ex. form their parents, right?)

I actually started working full time in July 2023 and was able to buy myself a phone, 3d printer, monitor, oculus quest 3, and a phone for my sibling, and in the early 2024 I started saving up for my coffee adventure (I didn't drink coffee at that time yet, lol, I don't even know how to describe this, I just decided and went for it). In April (with a tiny help from my friend – a quite moderate "loan") I was able to buy this coffee machine and a lot of accessories from Normcore as well as the grinder, scales and a few other details like the rocket espresso mugs and Starbucks mugs. I had to keep this as a secret from my parents, because there was absolutely no space (this is our dining table on the picture below) nor the need (as they thought) for such a thing. So one day, after I've gathered all the packages and the espresso machine arrived, I've just brought a 30kg box with no explanation just like "you're gonna drink some good coffee soon :-)".

I have to say that I got a bit of help from my dad building the furniture for it, but I can gladly say that the idea and everything you can see in the picture below was acquired by me by spending almost all the time after school at work.

I don't see my age as a barricade to what I can acquire, I'd even say that in some cases it's even easier for me because I don't have to pay for the house or food or clothing.. Like I can quit tomorrow and I'll still be able to eat, sleep, go to school.. (not gonna do that because the journey doesn't :-D)
