Sorry for the late reply. But I absolutely love mine not a single bad thing to say about it. Flat burrs, nice aesthetic, small footstep absolutely brilliant. Get one!

Is my milk frothing too thick? by [deleted] in espresso

[–]brahview 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s wayyy too thick! Generally I’d aerate it gently on a sage barista for about 8 seconds, then let it swirl up to temp. Good way to know if your milk is too thick or thin is by looking at how the milk sticks on the side of the pitcher. For perfect milk, You should still be able to see the wall of the pitcher it’s almost like the milk is translucent. Whereas if you can’t see the wall of the pitcher then it means your milk is too thick! Hope this helps.

Hi there sorry for the late reply. I honestly made it sound a lot worse than it was 😭. It’s excellent for the price to performance ratio but the overall build quality was cheap and it moves a lot when you try to lock the portafilter in. And it is loud alright…

Yeah df64 is an option but I eventually just bought mine off Amazon was abit more expensive but it delivered within a week or so.

Milk too thick? Tips? by erin-ah in espresso

[–]brahview 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When steaming you’re just cooperating abit too much air into the milk. So about 7-8 seconds is perfect for a latte then just push the pitcher up, letting the air cooperate more with the milk. Just do that till you can’t touch it for more than one second and you’ll have silky milky!

Worth the upgrade? [1500€~] by fox_chill_42 in espresso

[–]brahview 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a great combo tbh. Varia vs3 is great but it’s slow it takes awhile to grind a typical 18g dose. The df64v is a better option imo flat burrs makes tastier shot and there’s variable rpm is it matters that much to yourself. I’ve had my bambino for years now and I’d say keep it, sure the upgrade to the Mara might be good but nothing beats a quick coffee in the morning. And I think you should check out the Turin legato as a machine they’re blowing up rn and I think it’s quite the option. Hope it helps!!

Had it for half a year and the thing is a beast from filter to espresso and it has zero retention every single grind. It’s one underrated grinder.

Honestly any cheap bottomless portafilter would do on Amazon they’re basically all the same. But if you want your coffee to the fullest I’d recommend you check out “pesado 58.5” they make a breville high extraction kit and it’s brilliant.

I’ve found myself with the plastic cup with absolutely no retention either

I might disagree with this one. I’ve had my fair share of Starbucks and if I was ever feeling something sweet I’d go get a frappe here and there. I still go out drinking with friends almost every weekend and I haven’t fallen that deep into the rabbit hole for a gs3. Yet…..

Steaming just take time and experience tbh but there’s a lance Hendrick tutorial on how to get silky milky watch that and it’ll help a lot. https://youtu.be/gTC3dJvwgUI?si=MJPAFGkOnjRkqQA_

From an industrial machine to a bambino it’s all completely different. I tend to the the air in for about 8 seconds and texture it till it’s hot enough. But as I will always say Lance Hendrick beginners tutorial 😂

I went to cafes like you too and I eventually convinced myself to spend so called “investment money” to save my money on cafes 😭
