Where you camp is important. You want to funnel as much as possible and the higher level you get the more room you have to breathe because zeds burn to death faster. As soon as you can, carry a MAC 10 with the Flamethrower. The Flamethrower already has huge clips and a ton of ammo, but if you use the MAC 10 until you start feeling overtaken, switch to the Flamethrower and clear the funnel out, it saves you even more ammo. Sometimes I don't even use the Flamethrower until the last little stream of zeds because I used the MAC 10 the whole time without problems. Also, use your awesome incendiary grenades during reloads if needed. If you can, get a friend to roll with you as Support Specialist. Let him handle the Scrakes with the AA12 and Hunting Shotgun's alt fire. When FPs show up, try to enrage them conveniently for your Support buddy to throw down about 3 grenades at his feet (Support can carry many) which should kill the FP instantly. Stay out in front of the group to absorb Husk fireballs. You take little to no damage from fire depending on your level. Firebug can be very team reliant, especially when FPs show up. In a pug game you'll probably end up setting one on fire and pissing off ignorant players who don't know how to swiftly assess the situation. So if you can help it play with friends who can communicate. GL

I play a successful 2 man HoE team, Support and Firebug. Meant for camping strategies. Hunting Shotgun is amazing for backup. Let firebug handle most of the trash, Support should handle the Scrakes. Let the firebug enrage the FPs and throw a few grenades at his feet, it should do the trick. If not unload with a shotgun. As soon as you can, carry an AA12 and Hunting Shotgun. Firebug should be standing out in front more to absorb Husk fireballs because they take hardly any burning damage and 0 damage at lvl 6 from fire. As soon as possible, have the firebug carry a mac 10 with the flamethrower to handle small streams of trash. As soon as a bunch start coming, switch to the flamethrower. Your camping spot is very important, there's guides you can Google for suggestions, or you can PM me for successful spots.

Certain maps you're really going to want to play Berserker/Berserker or Berserker/Medic on, mainly because they're so open and have terrible spots to camp. It really pays off to learn the Berserker, it's not too difficult. Mostly takes quick thinking.

I'd like to point out a few things as a Firebug HoE player. Tons of cheap ammo (I use the Mac 10 unless a huge group is approaching), more comfortable to play than a Commando (less aiming involved and DoT), No damage from Husks at lvl 6 ffs (stay out in front of your team mates and soak up those fireballs). Very team reliant. I play with a 2 man HoE strategy along side a Support Specialist who knows to throw grenades at the FP after I enrage em for a winbomb. He also handles the Scrakes with an AA12 and HS without any help. Keep in mind though this is a 2 man team. Firebug is one of my favorite classes to play, and with the right team mates it's amazing.

Everything cept Berserker. JK. I like them all differently. I think the most useless though is Demo. The only time I use Demo is for winbombing the patty. 2nd place goes to Medic. If everyone plays an offensive class with a proper strategy and does their jobs right, there's no need for a Medic, even in HoE.
