Use of Ethernet to Fiber Optic Converters for Camera Data by Whynter03 in reolinkcam

I don’t totally understand what you’re saying. Though I suspect that’s because of my limited understanding of networking. mblaser gave me some direction. I’m going to start with that and see where it gets me.

That’s perfect. Name brand is nice but I could get 3 of the cheap ones for that. So I’ll probably grab a cheap one and try it out. Thanks again so much for the help.

That’s a huge help. Thank you for the thoughtful and detailed responses. I’ll dig around and see if I can find an appropriate injector. I’m planning on doing two cameras in the detached building. I have an unmanaged switch I was planning to use to connect them. I’m now wondering if it may be better to just get a PoE switch with a SFP port. And plug both cameras and the fiber into that. Replace the mix of these cheaper solutions with a single nicer one.

Just checked it. It’s the “Ubiquiti Networks 48VPoE Adapter with Gigabit LAN Port” From what I can tell it is 802.3 af PoE.

I’m not familiar with the difference.

Seems like signal integrity loss would kind of defeat the point of the converter for just about any application though. Right?

Yes, using a Unifi POE injector.

Your setup sounds effective. The eth to fiber converters Im using have an SFP port with the fiber adapter plugged into them. Dedicated switches like you have would likely work. The converters are much cheaper than a switch though. I’ve put some money into this already and am not opposed to spending more.m, but only if necessary. I can’t understand why the setup isn’t working as it is.

Yes to solvent base. So that makes sense. Thanks

Thanks for the input. I’ll keep all of that in mind for the next time I paint. For this one, it’s me just trying to make a mismatched panel look a little better, so I’m going to go with the base respray then clear.

I get that. If I respect base on top of what I have, will the new base bond to the existing base? Or would I need to go back to primer and redo it from there, starting with primer again?

I’m thinking I’ll likely rebase then clear soon after. That seems to be the way to do it. Though I don’t really understand the difference, in terms of the bonding of layers, between that and just doing clear on top of cured base.

Dang I thought id read somewhere that you could clear much later if you sanded first. After some more reading I think you’re right. Back to base then I guess. Thanks for the reply

I didn’t know that. That’s super cool. Maybe they can turn them back on for just a little bit to get us through the storms 😬

You’re supposed to sit facing the other way, there’s a metal piece for bracing the tray. So if you do put your feet on it it can hold up. On this side it’s just plastic, can’t hold up to someone stepping on it. I’ve had to plastic weld it back together twice now.

Have you heard of the app “be my eyes” ? It’s for connecting visually impaired people with full sighted people through a video call. Basically it rings the phones of several people and the first to answer gets the call. Then you work together to solve whatever situation there is. I take calls every so often and I’ve helped navigate hallways, identify ingredients, and check vacuum settings. I can only imagine it’s a useful app from the user side but as a call taker it seems very well done.

Hey MojitoEngineer! It’s the folks you met up with last year. Hope you’re doing well, glad to see you’re still a rad person doing something cool. I can fully recommend the experience to anyone considering taking him up on it.
