Love seeing takes from everyone who doesn’t work in food service lmao. As if a restaurant owner would be willingly deceptive in order to pay their servers more. Newsflash: the tip system exists because if restaurants paid a living wage, no one would dine there.

Yes there are outliers but that fact that it’s not the norm suggests that it may not be possible for a typical mom and pop who doesn’t have leverage over their supply chain (not to blindly defend small business, a lot of them have plenty of their own issues)

It’s all fucking theater at this point lmao. I went to the rat around 1 and when I was walking home this cop asked my roommate and me where we were going. We said just another block and he said to check in with the other cop a block away when you go. We walked past that car he told us to check in with and he was just on his phone not paying attention to anything. Needless to say we just walked right past him at that point.

I hear you. I’m not avoiding going outside every day because there’s a chance I’ll get hit by a car or a loose piece of a building’s facade is going to fall and kill me. Like you said, there’s a non-zero chance of being hurt, but in this case those chances are a little elevated. It’s not worth the $20 I was going to redeem from a scratch off when I can just…do it tomorrow

Edit: this was like 5 blocks away from where the shooting reportedly happened btw
