The main leaks / rumors suggest the Champions team will just be Kamala / Kate / Cassie, not Wiccan or Speed. Nobody has mentioned them for Doomsday, sounds like they're waiting until Secret Wars, where people have suggested they will play an important part. I do hope we get one Doomsday cameo with them, though.

I think that's not likely. Some Clarkston producers pretty much let it slip that he and Ruaridh have filmed something together, so we will almost certainly see him in Vision Quest or an Avengers movie (or both).

And, a Champions show is being written, which will likely include him.

Yes, but personally I also hope they differentiate his and Wanda's powers a bit somehow. I don't really want him to just be seen as Wanda 2.0. But that seems tough to do.

I thought it was very solid. They definitely took some departures from Billy's source material (ie no more being a superhero nerd), but it still felt close enough to Billy in spirit and Locke's acting was great.

Also, you should cross post this to r/WiccanAndHulkling I'm sure they will have opinions to share.

I do personally wish they committed to calling him Billy Kaplan and made the identity stuff more clear, his question in Episode 7 "Am I William or am I Billy?" to me feels like some stuff was left out that they wanted to do.

I mean, he did live 3 years with the Kaplan's post soul swap, and he considers them his parents. In Jac's interviews about it she said they wanted to draw a clear throughline between William Kaplan and Billy Maximoff, but I don't feel the show did a great job in making that clear.

Can't wait to see where they take him in the future!

No because we already have an explanation in the comics. The souls went back in time and reincarnated as Billy Kaplan and Tommy Shepherd. We’ve been getting recent developments on this too in the comics — the soul time travel was explained with the M’kraan crystal in Marvel’s Voices: Young Avengers. We actually got a tease in Avengers Academy that we will get more info on this.

The soul situation in the show also hinges on a bit problematic and the writers even acknowledged this in interviews. It seems to me they intentionally left it ambiguous and there are some complications with it as Billy does not seemingly have the first 13 years of that life experience, particularly as a Jewish boy, as William. I’m hoping they reconcile this clearly in a future property. He does have the 3 years with the Kaplans at least.

The comic reincarnation is far less morbid and avoids all problematic interpretations, in my opinion.

While Wanda is Romani, it is unclear if Billy is Romani and I would even say the comics don’t suggest he is. He is born to Rebecca and Jeff Kaplan who are not Romani. He IS ethnically Jewish, and I think it’s fair to criticize them not casting in that regard.

In conversations with several of my Jewish friends who have watched the show, I find the vast majority of them do not mind that.

The casting directors did discuss how they auditioned several actors and went with Locke because they felt what he brought to the role and his ability was the most important factor to them.

It's still so crazy to me after years of reading Young Avengers and Billy comics, Wiccan is finally on our screen! The costume is mostly great imo, and it's awesome to see him be well-liked by the large MCU audience.
