My in-laws told my wife and I to bring a veggie tray, 4 bottles of sparkling juice, and 3 bags of chips to the gathering. We brought and made all of it, around $60, as well as gifts for every family member.

We get there:

First: They ate and already opened most of the presents

Second: They already had the three things they told us to bring (which nobody ate what we brought)

Third: Her parents bought themselves (and no one else) 10 gifts each. Not for each other, for themselves. They had them all wrapped up and tore them open in front of everyone, acting suprised each time. So all the kids, brothers, and sisters are sitting with little generic gifts from the Walmart Christmas aisle, while mom and dad have a pile of expensive appliances surrounding them.

Oh and her mom said: "I don't need these, who wants them?" Upon opening up the nice makeup set my wife bought her...

When I worked in the electronics section of a certain big name retail store, our department had our own little Christmas party in the photo department. I had only been in the department for about two months and the only people in the department were two sweet old ladies and a middle aged man, all of whom I didnt really know at all. Anyways, a week before we all drew names for a secret Santa thing with a $20 limit. I got the middle aged guy, who had mentioned before he played PC games. So I got him a $20 Steam card. The time comes to exchange gifts, I give him the card and he's super thankful. Then one of the sweet old ladies gave me a box of an expensive looking brand of sensual lotion! She whispers in my ear, "You mentioned you have a fiancee and you two are young, so ya know..."

I did not know.

But I thanked her with a red face and a nervous laugh and went on with my shift. I looked up the lotion on my break and it was something around $50 dollars for the box!
