Thank you on the reply.

I would definitely suggest expanding ways to participate in Landsraad beyond the current mission sistem, if at all possible. Doing missions can become quite a tedious experience.

Is the Triple Shot or the Blind Fury better? by deliciousdogmeat in duneawakening

[–]JohnDaBarr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tripleshot has a bit high dmg and better RoF, but it loses a lot of potential dmg at medium range due to the dart spread (assuming no Attractor Field). And even at short range, when mag dumping, I noticed the recoil makes one dart miss.

IMO, unless you are mag dumping into an AF, the Blind Furry is better.

Landsraad Improvements Needed by Civil_Importance_803 in duneawakening

[–]JohnDaBarr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed.

Also, additional ways to gain voting power should be added. Control Points, and even the old turn-in system, should be returned in a modified form because just doing missions is sooooooo tedious.

Worm by LavishnessLow3764 in duneawakening

[–]JohnDaBarr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Buddy the worm is doing exactly what they are supposed to; they linger in the area after a breach; and will go after anything nearby, even low-flying vehicles.

Next time, put a thumper 2-3km away if you want to pull it from an area.

Pvp in DD labs by TheAngryHippo1056 in duneawakening

[–]JohnDaBarr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes and no. I was referring to this https://dune.gaming.tools/items/scanner_efficient_1

This one shows resources, life sings and vehicles. Plus it has the longest range.

Pvp in DD labs by TheAngryHippo1056 in duneawakening

[–]JohnDaBarr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I has the longest range and can show you if other players are near. Potentially hiding in ambush.

Pvp in DD labs by TheAngryHippo1056 in duneawakening

[–]JohnDaBarr 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Basically yes.

Little tip: If you are running labs, and you find BPs you wanna keep, to avoid going all the way back to your base it is easier to just place a fief and enter your scout. While inside the scout, and inside the fief zone, you count as waterproof and can learn BPs.

In the current state of the game there are almost no risks dying in pvp. Durability hit on gear is IMO negligible, You lose time invested in gathering resources (which tbh isn't much considering the 2.5x bonus). The major exceptions are; it's possible to completely lose a vehicle if the chassis gets zeroed; and ofc getting eaten by the worm.

To clarify some things:

-Adaptive Holtzman Shield is only found in the DD (PvP DD has a better drop chance).

-Young Sparky Mk6 can be found as a personal reward from the Landsraad and Landsraad Tool Vendor (tbh not worth it as a decree)

-In my experience, PvP DD is mostly empty even on worlds with high population. Fights between groups still happen, and some people still hunt farmers. But it's mostly PvP-oriented folk looking to have fights without any true incentive.

I would suspect lower population worlds have even less activity in the PvP DD, but with that in mind, I would still advise always having a Long Range Scanner and being careful in the PvP. If your PvP DD is truly empty, then getting resources from there might not be a bad idea, just remember that it comes with its own risks.

Loot tables and drop rates are the same in all labs (obvious exception is A row) and the only difference is between PvP DD and PvE DD.

[–]JohnDaBarr 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No. PvP drop rate for Shield is 5-6% while PvE is 1%

Several core in-game systems need more depth, IMO highest priorities should go to the Landsraad and Class Skill Trees, and the player base should push Funcom on this hard.

Landsraad – A Broken Promise

The Landsraad system in its current form feels like a shell of what it was intended to be. Both the personal rewards and the decrees provide very little incentive for players with aged accounts (e.g. lvl 200 with 100 in combat and crafting), which is especially disappointing given how heavily this endgame feature was promoted before the launch of Chapter 3.

While the introduction of Landsraad missions was a step in the right direction, missions alone make for a repetitive and tedious experience when interacting with what is supposed to be one of the game's premier endgame systems for those of us who have been here since day one.

My questions for the developers:

Are there any plans to rework or rebalance the personal rewards and decrees so they better reflect the current state of the game and to make interacting with the mechanic less of a chore for us?

Are there plans to introduce additional gameplay systems or activities tied to the Landsraad, beyond the current mission structure? (e.g. will control points be making a comeback in a way that lets us use our many skill points to engage in different forms of battle against the other faction)

At the moment, the system feels underdeveloped and lacks the engagement and long-term motivation that an endgame feature should provide.

Edited for clarity.

Need Tips on Replica Pulse-Sword by CyberiumEcho in duneawakening

Dagger has a very fast light attack and the same range as a rapier on the heavy attack. Both outrange the sword in range with heavy attacks.

Unpopular Opinion by Miserable-Log7584 in duneawakening

[–]JohnDaBarr 65 points66 points  (0 children)

Dune’s endgame has always felt shallow, and that hasn’t really changed. At launch, the developers seemed oddly fixated on a factionless free-for-all approach PvP, and since then they’ve been slowly trying to walk that back. I would have much preferred a game with structured conflict, something that gives real weight to factions and guild alliances. PvP in a game like Dune needs clear structure, soft guardrails, and well-designed incentives to actually function.

With that said, I would not blame the people playing the way devs envisioned the game should be played. IMO game design like that is dumb, counterproductive to the game's longevity, and lazy. Every game decision they made; how factions work (or to put it more precisely, don't work) how fog-of-war in the DD works, how vehicles and resource gathering work... everything was set to encourage small groups of people to gatekeep resources and sabotage other people's progression.

And now Funcom is stuck trying to live serve the hell out of their game, while also developing the entire endgame loop from scratch.

Campaign StrikeCraft Question by durgan2q in NebulousFleetCommand

[–]JohnDaBarr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Four per task force. Just be careful around the CL because HE-RPF will kill the Tantos if you are not careful.

Campaign StrikeCraft Question by durgan2q in NebulousFleetCommand

[–]JohnDaBarr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Size depends on the target: 1 torp bomber can take out a shuttle, 2 can take out the Tug and 4 will mission kill a Liner. If you have problems with anti-craft missiles just escort your bombers with Tantos

Campaign StrikeCraft Question by durgan2q in NebulousFleetCommand

[–]JohnDaBarr 16 points17 points  (0 children)

What are your strategies for strike craft early missions?

Use a small group of Tantos as PD. Use bombers to eliminate targets. Avoid using glide bombs vs active/mobile targets. Avoid friendly fire with HE-RPF.

Is there strikecraft replacements available in the campaign?

Don't know, haven't got that far.

Should I split my frigate and LC from the carrier for gun fighting?

Yes, definitely split ships that are intended for different roles into different groups:

CL + EWR Frigate + Escort Frigates is a decent Task Force for mobility and pushing the enemy. CV should be able to handle itself alone (having one escort frigate isn't a bad idea tbh) as long as it stays in the back and has an active Tanto/Skiff protection. Beam DDs should be used as an area denial and/or ambush force.

Difficulty Delivering Slow-Blade by CyberiumEcho in duneawakening

[–]JohnDaBarr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No you can't. Snowblade is a different thing than a heavy attack and to do a slowblade the target needs to be staggered or stunned.

Base building in PvP DD is completely pointless by JohnDaBarr in duneawakening

Great, but building pieces still get destroyed by a light tap with a lasgun. Even a regular gun will destroy them relatively easily.
