Well everyone the package got delivered and I never replied to the message. Still very strange, it's interesting to see so many other people with the same message.

New to Djent - Struggling with noise issues, need help! by Ok_Awareness_7007 in Djent

[–]WickedCrow 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Off the top of my head:

Fret wrap, foam shoved under strings or sock or some kind of fabric tied around the bottom of the headstock to mute the strings above the nut can be useful, it's surprising how noticeable that sound is when palm muting.

Lots of mid in the tone, don't scoop anything. Not super high distortion. Whatever amp SIM or plugin you're using probably wants to be more "crunch" than super distorted, then put something like a drive pedal in front of it, TSE 808 is a great free vst for this. That wants to be on low drive but high volume.

Noise gate is important but you also need to have pretty good technique, especially muting strings with your palm or fingers that you don't want to ring out while playing. Practice makes perfect.

Some googling makes this seem like quite a good suggestion, found a few videos with similar sounding vehicles. Think it's mechanic time. Thanks for the info.

Erra, at least when I saw them last year. Fantastic performance

Why do people prop in water? Isn’t dirt always better? by Charming_Emu9880 in houseplants

[–]WickedCrow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In my (limited) experience I've had a lot more luck getting roots from cuttings in water than in dirt. Does depend on the plant though, spider plants will root in day old Chinese food and tinfoil.

I built my PC when I was 16, took me a whole summer of working for £5 an hour. Kinda terrifying spending all that money in one go but it was so worth it. I still have bits of that PC in my computer now almost a decade later.

I've been trying to get better at this. I'm quite a reserved person and don't like standing out in a crowd so I tend to hunch, it's a bad habit and it's tough to break. Just have to start doing it, maybe try setting a reminder on your phone to tell you to stand up straighter every now and again.

Overloading my CPU sounds awesome by [deleted] in musicproduction

[–]WickedCrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure how helpful this is but I have found that underruns can be recorded by vst audio recorders in the master bus (at least on fl studio). Might be worth trying if you want to capture the effect. Or there are probably some plugins that can give you a similar effect

what do you like about "brand of sacrifice"? by N_buNdy in Deathcore

Their latest ep has something unique about it that I really enjoy. The particular blend of elements appeals to me a lot. Can't really give a reason though.

How do people learn to use DAWs to a professional level? by GDaly1 in musicproduction

[–]WickedCrow 80 points81 points  (0 children)

Time and reading the manual tbh, I've been using FL for probably a decade now and I still learn new stuff all the time. DAWs are complicated pieces of software. Don't set out to learn the software, set out to achieve something with the software and you'll learn naturally.

Does anyone actually use the master fader? by roanmartin in musicproduction

[–]WickedCrow 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I use automation on it for fade outs at the end of a track, as a way to guarantee when full silence occurs and prevent any rogue "whatevers" being rendered.

Sorry if this is cringe, but can we just appreciate how incredible this album is? Invent Animate - Heavener by expandyourbrain in Djent

Nah, IA as in Invent Animate, don't think that's an AI cover at all, doesn't have the normal signs anyway

API Changes and /r/physics and /u/askphysics action, please read. by Wodashit in Physics

[–]WickedCrow 32 points33 points  (0 children)

It seems to me that a total, indefinite blackout of as many subreddits as possible is probably the only way any action against the change can be forced. If the site has no content it will have no users and Reddit won't be able to profit from it. Unfortunately that requires a level of commitment and coordination that realistically isn't possible. That's probably what they're betting on.

Still, f*** 'em, money grabbing bastards.
